  1. Haha, even when I am leaner, I still have some double chin fat and fatter cheeks which makes my weak chin look worse. The perils of aging.
  2. Thanks I will definitely look into it. I’ve seen derma rolling mentioned here but haven’t researched it much. I am already using minoxidil though, been using it about 2 years. Been on fin about 2 years too. I have one of those iRestore laser helmet things too I have been using for about a year and a half. I doubt the helmet works at all but I paid for it so might as well use it until it dies. I would like to get on DUT but all the places I’ve seen selling it are charging a lot and I have no idea I’d they’re legit.
  3. I looked ok without a beard when I was younger and had a slimmer face, more defined chin, and a lower hairline. But now in my old age a beard is a must.
  4. Thanks I will. I’m a little embarrassed because I didn’t know of this forum before I made my decision. the place I went to isn’t necessarily a hair mill, but they are a larger organization that spans multiple locations. The name of the doctor that did my work only shows up in a few posts here, and they are really old posts. I believe each location is independently owned and operated though. All of the consultation was done via the person who owns and runs the clinic, and not the doctor, and I know now that’s a big red flag. I didn’t even meet the doctor until 5 minutes before surgery. But like I said, I didn’t know any better. All their results and reviews are all great, I couldn’t find a single bad review anywhere. I’m happy with the results so far but I wish I had found this forum beforehand, as I likely would have gone to one of the recommended doctors on here.
  5. I look awful without a beard. I have no chin and my face looks like a chipmunk. I pretty much have to have a beard just to avoid frightening people that look at me. coloring it isn’t bad at all. Every Saturday I brush some just for men on it, wait 5 minutes, the wash it off. I don’t mind the grey per se, I mind that it’s not cohesive. I have these giant white stripes and then a few white hairs throughout. I honestly wish it would go entirely gray and white, getting rid of the strip look and getting rid of the red. Whenever it goes full gray and white I’ll stop coloring it.
  6. Thanks, yeah it definitely looks suspect, like there is concealer or fibers on the scalp.
  7. I’ll definitely wait 12-18 months before considering another HT or SMP. This is more just fact finding and research I’ll likely be working from home forever, so hiding another HT isn’t a big deal. I just don’t know if I can put myself through this all again. I’m growing my hair out now, and after 12-18 months the length is going to be where I want it. So Having to shave it and start all over, then go through the ugly duckling phase, hide my bloody scalp from my kids for a few months (I wore a hat or a scarf over my head until I was healed), plus the entire healing process - just now sure I can do it again. But SMP wouldn’t require any of that, so it would be much easier to handle. i do likely have more than enough donor hair to completely fill in my crown (and even lower my hair line if I wanted to), just not sure I want to go through another surgery. Also, my beard hair likely wouldn’t work as my beard is naturally red with lots of gray, I dye it because I don’t like the red beard with my black hair. I’ll post a picture below of my normal beard color. my biggest concern with SMP is what happens when my hair goes complete gray or white. I will have dark brown/black SMP under my white and gray hair. I know SMP fades but it won’t fade that much from what I’ve read. I guess I’d have to dye my hair forever?
  8. Thanks! Hey did you see my post above where I tagged you? Any chance you could change the post title for me since it won’t let me edit it?
  9. Yeah that website is the same company. Did you see their before and after photos? They just don’t look real. Here are two of the most dramatic ones. I just don’t see how this is possible with SMP. I had an HT 6 months ago and I don’t think my crown is going to be as dense as I wanted. I was considering another HT but I saw this and wondered if this was a legit alternative or snake oil.
  10. @Melvin-Moderator can I get the title changed to: “My hairline and crown results from FUT in July 2020”
  11. Side note: does anyone know why I can no longer edit my posts in here? I used to be able to, but now I’ve lost the ability. I wanted to edit the first post and the title but it will no longer let me.
  12. Thanks! Yeah, trying hard not to obsess. I was going to post at 6 months but that was too close to my original post, so figured I’d post now, again at 7 months, then monthly increments after that.
  13. FYI I am able to edit this post here I made in off topic, but not the one I link to. Strange.
  14. Wasn’t really sure where to post this. I started a thread here: I was able to edit several of my posts, including the first one, after I made them. Now I’d like to go back and edit the first post, but it won’t let me. Any idea why?
  15. Well it’s only been a few weeks since my first set of pictures on here, but everything seems to be thickening up nicely so I thought I’d post some new pics. I don’t know if it’s the added length (my hair grows really fast, I shaved my entire head with a #4 guard 3 months ago and it’s already this long on top), the hair cut I got last week, or the new hair product I’ve been using, but I’m feeling much more confident in the results. The crown I’m still hoping thickens up a lot, as a lot of the coverage is decent but also kind of an illusion due to my hair being longer and covering it (sort of a combover.) the hairline I’m 99% happy with. there’s a little spot in the middle where it’s thinner, so I hope that comes in. it was thinner right there before my procedure, so I’m guessing they just didn’t add extra hairs there to account for it, or maybe some of my grafts didn’t take I’ll post again at 7 months, which will be in about another 3 weeks.
  16. This page came up on Instagram for me: https://instagram.com/newportsmp?igshid=24c2dh1pwxvi their results on creating the illusion of density just don’t look real. I’ve seen good SMP for covering scars and giving someone the shaved head look, but I’ve never seen it used to make a balding person look like they have longer hair. anyone know if there’s legit? I’m in Ohio so pretty far away and would likely not be able to go there, but I can’t stop looking at their results.
  17. I really hope that’s the case for me. I’ve certainly seen a ton of posts on here where that was the case, and they got excellent improvement after 6 months. But, I’ve also seen other posts on here where there was no real improvement after 6 months.
  18. I’m very OCD about my post transplant growth, probably to the point of it being unhealthy. I’ll examine my hairline and crown up close in mirrors once or twice a day every day. So I pretty much noticed every hair the day they popped out.
  19. I think it’s all personal preference. For me, my receding hairline hardly bothered me, but my balding crown caused me serious anxiety and depression. When I got my hair transplant, I told them filling the crown was my first priority, and only do the hair like if there was enough hair. IMO, it looks really weird when people have their hairline restored but then have a giant bald spot. Like President Biden. It just looks really weird when someone appears to have a full head of hair from the front, then they turn to the side and you see a giant patch of scalp.
