Question about growth 10-12 month
Gatsby replied to rumblefish7194's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
After my second hair transplant I was still getting tiny hairs in the hairline at month 10. This however is more of an outlier than the norm though. This didn't happen after my first hair transplant one year before this. -

Just incredible @mrmane85. Ten years ago this would not have been possible. ๐ -
FUE Surgeon in New Zealand - Help and Advice
Gatsby replied to george_nz_1's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
I can guarantee you that speaking for myself I receive zero kick back in discouraging potential patients from having permanent life altering surgery in Australia and New Zealand. Hair organizations mean nothing in real term benefit to patients. At best they can be a starting point and often benefit the surgeons in receiving more work and benefit potential patients from very little to bad work. You only get one chance at this so never choose surgery based on geography. I highly encourage potential patients to do their research thoroughly and independently. If a clinic/surgeon feels the need to market themselves on hair forums then that's a red flag to me. You will often hear as a defense that the risks are great traveling overseas from Australia (and New Zealand). Sadly if you have done your research thoroughly this is further from the truth. The clinic that is a thirty minute cab ride from home can be one of the biggest regrets you can make. Results speak for themselves. A surgeon who can show a huge body of work spanning a decade as a minimum with elite work ranging from Norwood 3-6 is worth considering. Finally don't be in a rush in your research as this is for life. We sadly see too many people on this forum who require a repair from poor work to disfigurement. -
Extremely depressed
Gatsby replied to Hairlossingfast's topic in Support Group - Discuss personal issues due to Hair Loss
I would jump back on minoxidil. I'm not a doctor but I would consider seeing one to get a referral to a dermatologist for a script for oral minoxidil. Minoxidil is not the culprit. Oral minoxidil will also benefit all of your scalp hair and beard (not just where topical minoxidil is applied). Also when I was 18 and I began to see my hair begin to recede I went from being a party animal to sinking into a deep depression that nearly took my life. Even ten years later with scars from botched hair transplants and a hair piece I was a thousand times happier. I respect your decision not to see a professional for depression. For me though it literally did save my life. I later shaved my head and had SMP which improved the scars quite a bit. The thought of shaving my head at 18/19 was an impossible thought to entertain. Yes hair loss is dictating your depression as it was mine. However I got to a point where I could deal with fighting the MPB. Today I am a different person and it was worth it. Feel free to DM if you like. All the best and you are not alone. -
@mrmajified this is an incredibly natural result! Congratulations! ๐

Eugenix 4801 grafts (TBC) by Dr Somesh NW5/6 40yo
Gatsby replied to artheus05's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
For less than two months post op itโs good news the shedding has stopped. I always found month two to be the hardest part of the journey. With a bit of patience by month four you may see some early growth. All the best! ๐ -
@chrisu I would definitely say FUE. The reason being that for the hairline FUE is able to cherry pick grafts from areas of the scalp to best mimic the natural quality of hair in the hairline. The doesn't require a strip in the sweet spot. All the best.

@DannyDevito your four month result is right on track and compare and look back to where you began. The fact you are on meds is a huge advantage. Thanks for the update! ๐ฏ๐- 33 replies

No offense at all implied @SeanToman as I am a huge fan of you and your results. I would (just my own opinion) first look for elite surgeons who turn out great results in hairlines such as De Freitas, Sethi, etc just to name a couple as their a few good names out there. Narrow it down to who you feel will achieve the results you are looking for. The real problem I see though however isn't a limited budget. It's the risk of ruining the hairline you have (which I think works great for you now and will far into the future) that you have that looks 100% natural. If it were me I would leave it and keep your money for the future 'if' you need further work in other areas of you hair (which you don't have any sign of now). Wishing you all the best mate.

Succesful repair ongoing with dr Feriduni in Belgium!

@Davy this is one of the greatest stories about redemption Iโve read. Things will just continue to improve. ๐ฏ๐ -
@londonbased not experiencing side effects to Finasteride and dutasteride alone is like gold for MPB suffererโs. ๐I agree that you also need to monitor carefully side effects for oral minoxidil.

hair cloning
Gatsby replied to sea of possibilities's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
I think youโll find that gene editing will come before hair cloning. We cloned sheep a couple of decades ago. We can grow hair and even an ear on mice. However growing hair on a human being is a quantum leap. -
Iโm not a doctor but perhaps you could drop the topical minoxidil and up the oral minoxidil from 2.5mg to 5mg. The Nizoral 2% shampoo is something that personally (and this is just my opinion) could be dropped as I donโt see how it benefits being on the scalp for only ten minutes in the shower to penetrate the scalp. But you are on a pretty much perfect regime. ๐

Dr Das, Dr Vinita , Eugenix - 4057 grafts, May 2023
Gatsby replied to Knightrider's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
@Knightrider if this is your second failed hair transplant now then I would be thinking strongly of having a biopsy with a dermatologist before going ahead with a third procedure. -
Eugenix medical history questionnaire
Gatsby replied to Buffaloboy's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
@Buffaloboy if a screening questionnaire requesting blood tests and what not warrants concern then personally I would give surgery a big pass. You will find a lot more about surgery itself to be concerned about. Take this in the spirit that it is meant. Not everyone is a candidate for surgery for a myriad of reasons. All the best. -
Any thoughts on my hair transplant?
Gatsby replied to londonbased's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
@londonbased for 2,500 grafts and with a large head (like myself) I think the results are good. The fact you are taking dutasteride and now oral minoxidil will also help you. Depending on your donor if you wanted more density you could opt for a second pass. From the pics your crown appears to still be intact and this is where the meds will help in keeping what you have and help strengthen the hair you have. All the best! -
Dandruff with hairloss 2 months after transplant
Gatsby replied to anoniem's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
It's just dead hair. Nothing to worry about re: your transplanted grafts. You could consider using a shampoo like Nizoral 2%. All the best.
