  1. Scalp hair stays in the anagen phase for 2-8 years and then goes into the telegenic phase for three months before shedding. Beard hair is the in the anagen phase for 2 months to 1 year and sits in the telegenic phase between 1-3 months before shedding. Chest hair stays in the anagen phase for 1-6 months and sits in the telogen phase for 2-6 months. So you can see when it comes to say a hybrid hair transplant like I have undergone these phases vary a lot which is something potential NW 7 patients need to take into account. That’s why I take oral minoxidil in the hope of keeping these hairs in the anagen phase as long as possible.
  2. When having surgery overseas I found it easier to pay the bulk of it from my Country on Wise which gave me the best exchange rate. After the surgery I would just pay any outstanding amount when I was there. Less stress too.
  3. Oral minoxidil is generally better in that it passes the liver and goes systemic and works on scalp and beard (sometimes body) hair. Topical works where it is applied and is more messy than taking a tablet. However it is really a case by case decision.
  4. @imasaint you appear to have a lot of miniaturized hairs that would respond well to finasteride. I would definitely give the medication 12 months to do it's work. You may be surprised at how many grafts you don't need to use in a year from now. In terms of hairlines you do not want a hairline that you are growing out of by the time you are 40 and beyond. Without seeing your whole face it's difficult to judge but an elite surgeon will have the right idea. Have a look at the recommended surgeons on the forum by patient results (not by surgeon results). Look for one who turns out results with patients that have the same loss of hair as you with results you are looking for. Ensure they have a strong body of excellent work. All the best!
  5. Elective cosmetic surgery is sadly, where the surgeon has stated that he 'did his best,' is very hard to prosecute. Think of how many bad results have been challenged legally over the years and how many have actually been successful. It's incredibly costly financially for the patient even just to send a letter of demand. However I would be going full guns on a full refund. I've personally been involved in two law suits as the plaintiff and they are very taxing not just financially but more so psychologically and emotionally. Trust me when I say that a lawyer's first duty is to be paid first. Unless you have been through it their are just so many variables. As a butchered patient as a teenager myself I wish this was not the case.
  6. @Marcelo Nunes Cravo this is incredible not only for just four months but also because you look 10+ years younger. I can't wait to see the final result! 👌
  7. For the past 39 years I have heard in the media that hair cloning will be five years away 'every five years!!!' True story. Not sure of the relevance of 'five?' 😂
  8. I think owing to the fact that I started repair/hair transplants as a Norwwod 7 and that I am taking oral minoxidil, I don't feel that I have lost ground. In fact my hair feels thicker and remains in the anagen phase much longer. I would still love to be able to take a 5ari for the future of my donor (and transplanted scalp hair). As to finasteride (I'm not a doctor) I would get off the drug until the sexual side effects disappear and then try micro dosing. That way you will have your normal baseline to compare to. All the best.
  9. The vast majority shed the transplanted hair due to the trauma of surgery. The transplanted hair goes into a resting phase and sheds and about 3 months post op the new hair begins to grow. This time of new growth can vary a little. Personally I have always found month two to be the worst point in the ugly duckling phase. All the best.
  10. Hey @Shadman. I had sexual side effects on oral finasteride on lots of different doses from 1mg a day to 0.25mg every second day. I tried topical finasteride at 0.25% but I found that my libido disappeared after three months. I might consider l going back to my dermatologist and try 0.1% topical finasteride but I’ll see. My advice would be to continue with oral minoxidil as it’s far more effective than the topical version and have your dermatologist prescribe 0.1% topical finasteride. That way your are getting the maximum benefit of oral minoxidil. All the best with whichever way you choose to proceed.
  11. Awesome results @JP34567. It was great meeting you way back in January 2022. Your results are super natural and the best birthday present you could give yourself. 👌💯
  12. @Buffaloboy that's a fair point and one that I myself like to point out that no surgeon/clinic is free from a bad result. Every surgeon has had a bad result and that's not meant as an excuse on the surgeon or techs in the slightest. It's meant that what happened to me 39 years ago is still happening today on a grand scale due to social media, just plain bad work or both. Surgery should always be a last result and medication the first option (if tolerated). All the best.
  13. @Sharkz your results are excellent and you have months ahead to go one even better. 👌
  14. You're more than welcome @Petroholic. The person on the street would have no idea you have had surgery. They would just think that you have a full head of hair (which you do). It's us hair geeks on forums that are our worst enemies including me! 😂👍
  15. I'm so sorry to see this and the pain you are now going through. My first two surgeries were 'plugs.' I was told the second 'plug' surgery would correct the first one but it only made everything twice as bad and I was only 18 at the time. The good news is that it looks to be an easy repair in the right hands and I imagine your donor is not too bad after this compared to some of the bad results from Turkey hair mills. This will pass but it going to take patience. I would push hard on this surgeon for a full refund and perhaps get opinions from other surgeons to put to this joker.
  16. I think personally you are on the perfect stack! I mean you could add oral minoxidil but if it ain't broken then why fix it. Perhaps keep oral minoxidil up your sleeve for the future. Great results and thanks for sharing! 👌
  17. With the greatest of respect @Buffaloboy, regardless of the surgeon/clinic the angle of down/backwards is exactly what I have, @MazAB, @Zoomster, @Bandit90, @SLA has many other patients from a variety of surgeons. Temples points if performed incorrectly are better left out from a surgery as they become very obvious. In no way am I saying you should go to Eugenix or any other surgeon. Temple points are an art more than just a procedure. All the best!
  18. I think Xyon would be the best option from results seen by 5ari sensitive people like Melvin, etc. It’s a pity it’s not available in Australia.
  19. Anything that makes your surgery more difficult for the surgery and the technicians is not in the best interests for your results. You want to guarantee that you are positioning yourself with everything in your favour for the best results possible for the long term.
  20. Don’t worry about the pain of the surgery. You need to focus on the pain of having your donor potentially ruined and either poor or unnatural results. Do your research by looking at patient results on the forum. You only get one chance at this. You are better off not having surgery until you are better educated on which surgeon is best for you. Every surgeon will say they are the best. A surgeon who says they can ‘guarantee’ their work is a huge red flag.
  21. They will generally give you a benzodiazepine before the surgery. This might help. Also make sure you are hydrated and can get a good night’s sleep prior to surgery.
  22. Yes I was really hoping that topical Finasteride would not cause sexual side effects. My dermatologist is a good one (Dr Bevin Bhoyrul) and he stated that only one of his patients developed side effects. Within three months on 0.25% my libido disappeared again. I’m fine on 5mg of oral minoxidil a day (and luckily do benefit from this one). But being on minoxidil is not the same as a 5ari. At least it’s better than nothing.
  23. Generally a clinic will ask you of any conditions/allergies that you may have. A blood test, blood pressure, etc should be taken pre op. Always disclosr any health problems, etc to a clinic/doctor before surgery. All the best.
