  1. Dr Bloxham - I assume this means you or Dr Feller will be responding to this comment in the (hopefully) near future. If that is the case, can you outline exactly what it is please? To my untrained eye, it is just strip surgery i.e FUT. I don't see the difference at all.
  2. Thanks for the advice. I will check the blog out. I do not trust what I read on the hairloss clinic websites until I have a base of knowledge that allows me to determine what is marketing from what is fact.
  3. Thanks for the reply Spanker. I genuinely disagree with your answer to number 1. All the information is on clinic websites etc. or companies selling the machines praising the efficacy of this miracle treatment. I can find the same "science" on laser combs too. There is next to nothing on impartial forums like this. An example of this, one website claims you need 4-5 treatments per year and another claims 1 a year is enough. How am I supposed to know which is the truth? I am trying to put off HT until I am in my mid-30s which will be in a 2-3 years. This will give me a better idea of the pattern I can expect later on and allow me to better plan. This treatment sounds ideal, assuming it works for me.
  4. Hi! I have been reading more about it on the forum but I am still not entirely sure what it is and/or how it works. I am in my early 30s and would like to put off surgery as long as I possibly can, as Dr. Feriduni has recommended to me. I have thought of a few questions then. 1) What is it? The info I find online is mostly marketing/promotional stuff so I am not going to believe that. 2) Are there brands? If so, which are the best/worst? 3) Is this a skill in itself i.e. are there doctors that are better in it than others? 4) Side effects? 5) Is it a long-term solution? Any assistance would be much appreciated!
  5. He has had FUT and says so on his videos. He also doesn't take medication. Check them out.
  6. 1) That's pretty harsh and just a sly dig. It doesn't contribute to anything in the discussion, whether you agree with Doctor Feller or not 2) He has had procedures done. His whole hair is transplanted hair as he says in his Youtube videos.
  7. I agree with this. I do not like the idea of taking any drug for 50 years much less one that hasn't been approved by a first world country's medical council/authority.
  8. This is good to know, actually. Although, if hairloss continues then surely it wouldn't make much difference if I took medication or not? I really need to speak to a doctor about this but I can't get enough time off work now. I thought I had a week in July but something has come up! My hairloss does appear to have become more stable though.
  9. I'd want it doing in the consultation! If it is a weak donor then maybe it is not worth doing the procedure. They are taking your money without knowing if you're a good candidate or not. Which doctor was it? I would avoid.
  10. Thanks for your reply. I don't mind having another pass later in a few years. I have the money and if I have the donor to cover it, I don't see the issue. May I ask how many you have had? The issue I have with the drugs is: Rogaine messes up your scalp and they don't even really know how it works. This rings alarm bells immediately. Given the amount of money in the industry, they can't determine how it works and therefore they can't know what long-term side effects there may or may not be? Not for me. With fin, it wears off anyway and I will essentially be at the mercy of a drug for the rest of my life, planning trips and work contracts abroad around if I can get it or not etc. Also, let's say I live to be in my mid-80s, that is another 50 years of taking a drug. What are the long-term side effects? There haven't been any studies for that kind of length of time. It also has some "interesting" side effects re. prostate cancer/problems and the ability to detect these problems. I am currently just getting other laypeople's opinions (would love the opinion of a doctor though) and will of course leave the final say to the doctors when I meet up with them during the course of this year. Out of interest, I see you're the rep. for Dr. Konior who has a great reputation. What is his advice, if he has ever been asked, on this subject?
  11. Thanks for this feedback! It is actually a 3.5V as the bit behind the forelock is going and is quite bad now. I am going to be meeting with the usual Belgians/Belgian based doctors over the course of this year. The only issue with FUT is that I won't be able to shave it down in the future should it get worse. I think at my age it should be quite stable-ish now though. Dr Feriduni said to wait until I am 35 before touching my crown as he would like to see the pattern before advising. He said to wait until next year for my frontal third for the same reason so I will be following these guidelines (pending in-person advice from them, including Dr. Feriduni)
  12. Hello! So, I would like some advice please. If any doctors want to give an opinion, I would very much appreciate it too. I have been researching this for about 2 years now. I was lurking here, and other similar forums, for months and months reading before I joined. I am between three options for what I want to do about my hair. I do not take and do not want to take medication so take this into account when/if you decide to give advice. I think I am different to most other people on the forum in that nearly everybody wants hair to style and run their fingers through as their main goal. I don't care about that. I have low expectations in terms of the result I would like. I am in my early-mid 30s and have a NW3v and I would be happy staying as a NW3 forever (2.5 would be ideal but I'd be more than happy with a 3) and just filling in behind the forelock where it is starting to go. I wouldn't even mind not having a complete crown. I see other men saying they need to top up the crown so it is better and I think, I wouldn't mind having that forever. I just don't want to be bald and want the whole thing to look natural. That is it, I don't need my 18, or even 27, year old hairline back to treat this as a success. 1) Forget it and shave it all off (I have a forelock though and shaved heads look better on tanned/olive skinned/black/Latino men than pale, white Northern Europeans) 2) Get FUE and give myself just enough on top over 2-3 procedures to give myself a shadow and then shave it off to a humber 1 or 2 (or even shorter) and keep it that way forever so it looks like I was losing my hair and then just cut it short. This looks suits me anyway. 3) FUT procedures to get max out of my donor and make the most out of it according to what the surgeon thinks and then FUE the scars. The deciding factor is, of course, I do not want to take medication so if 2 or 3 aren't viable, I will do 1. I am hoping at least one of 2 or 3 will be though. As I said, any advice would be much appreciated.
  13. Thanks for the reply. I have mentioned repeatedly in this thread that my financial situation is not the limiting factor here. I do not mind paying 200 euros for something like this. I have spent more on nights out. I begrudge not having this reduced from the total amount should I go ahead (and if I don't, I would understand why he has charged 217 euros for his time).
  14. Logically you're right but I just think it should be discounted from the overall amount if I go ahead with the procedure (see above for more details).
  15. Completely agree with all of that. It isn't the amount that bothers me, I can afford it and the consequent procedure(s) but it is the principle and the fact they do not put it towards the procedure. Also, I am paying to have a consultation in SIX (6) months!!!!!! I could see him sooner if I just booked the procedure. Crazy timetabling. You might be tempted to say just have the procedure then as it sounds like you have already chosen your doctor however, I am of 3 minds and want to discuss each option with him. 1) Forget it and shave it all off (I have a forelock though ) 2) get FUE and give myself just enough on top over 2-3 procedures to give myself a shadow and then shave it off and keep it that way forever so it looks like I was losing my hair and then just cut it short. This looks suits me anyway. 3) FUT procedures to get max out of my donor and make the most out of it and then FUE the scars. The deciding factor is I do not want to take medication so if 2 or 3 aren't viable, I will do 1. I am hoping at least one of them will be though. Dr Feriduni is the only doctor who has turned me away too for my crown citing that the pattern would be more obvious in my mid-30s (3 years away) and even said I should wait about a year to get the frontal 3rd done (which at this rate it will have been by the time I get the procedure). This shows ethics to me so I want to see him which in turns means I will probably, grudgingly, fork out the 217 euros.
  16. I take your point completely (I don't pay for visits to the GP though ) and it isn't the amount of money itself as 200 euros out of possibly 30k euros isn't much (it isn't much anyway) and I also appreciate he doesn't want to give his work away for free, I wouldn't. I just think the fairest way to deal with it would be 200 euros and then if you choose to go with him then it is deducted from the amount. As I said earlier, it isn't the amount itself that bothers me. It is the fact it feels like I am being "trapped into" going with this doctor by having to financially invest in him first (financial investment leading to an emotional investment).
  17. Well, I have just got a reply from his rep and the money does not go towards the final cost of the surgery. It isn't the money itself, I just find this a bit cheeky to be honest. If I have 2-4 procedures during the course of my time with him, that will be 20-40,000 euros and he is charging 200 euros for the privilege to spend that money with him. I could understand if it would deducted from the final cost of the surgery. I do wonder, on the basis of some replies here, if this is a difference in culture between the US and Europe (even though the doctor is Euopean).
  18. I have the money so that is not the issue. I just find it immoral that they are tying you in to a particular clinic by making you pay consultation fees. I hadn't though to ask if the amount is subtracted from the total fee. If it is, it is less bad as I will probably go with Feriduni anyway. I will send them an email now to find out.
  19. What is everybody's opinion on them? Dr. Feriduni has said I can have a consultation but have to pay 217 euros. I think this a lot of money for a 45-60 minute chat when I am there to assess if I will be spending 10k+ euros (more if you factor in the inevitable future procedures). I also think it is a sneaky way of just tying you into the clinic by getting you to invest, financially, in that particular clinic. On the other hand, Dr Feriduni is world class. What are people's thoughts on the matter?
  20. I think Feriduni's team are awful at getting back to me. The only reason I am persisting is because of his reputation and results. If I didn't know about these or I made the decision to base his team's skill on the skill of his public facing team, I would have scratched him off my list a long time ago.
  21. Haven't seen this before. I would say mine is pattern 1 class 4. I am interested to hear the answer as the forelock is genetic and I already have one.
