  1. You're only just half way over the mid-way point in the 12 months. Let's see how things progress over the next few months. It still looks good though.
  2. I thought I would post this article I read on a website that I read articles about weightlifting on. It is a list of anti-hairloss treatments and their pros and cons. I was wondering if anybody has used any of the less common ones such as the progresterone cream or the L-carnitine and what the results were? https://www.t-nation.com/living/how-not-to-go-bald
  3. I said 2-3 years for comic effect. I just meant it could be a lot worse (or not). I think it is more or less stable now but I will visit the doctors I am interested in going with in the next couple of months and see what they say in person!
  4. Just Minoxidil. I don't want to take fen. I agree but my frontal 3rd can't really get worse. The crown can (and will) but it hasn't changed in the last 6 months or so.
  5. Yes. I see his point, as I mentioned above, but I have no heard of anybody else being turned down because of their age. I would have thought at 32 I would be fine. I'd be almost 32.5-33 when when I had it too. I will have to hash it out with him in person when I see him in the summer.
  6. Hello! I have been in contact via email with Dr Feriduni (or his rep anyway). I am 31, almost 32, and I have been recommended to wait 2-3 years before getting my frontal 1/3 done and then waiting a further 2-3 years to get my crown done. The problem is, I think I will be completely bald by then. I understand the logic. They want to see how stable to my hairloss is. The crown is already quite bad though and the front has a tuft but benefits from the top of the head having hair which is also thick and so gives the illusion of having more hair at the front than I actually have. What does everybody else think about this advice? I am going to go on a visit in the summer to Belgium to visit a couple of doctors but I want to get people's advice anyway.
  7. Thanks guys! It seems like, as always, the better the surgeon the better the result will be
  8. I'll be following this. Why did you decide on FUT and not FUE? What did he say your donor area was like? Were there any bad things bout going with Feriduni?
  9. Good progress. May I ask, in the first set of pics (post-op) there seems to be no redness but in the next set, the bottom pic with you wearing a sports jersey, there appears to be redness. Is this the light? WHen did the redness go? Also, how long after did you start lifting again? Finally, I would say my donor area is much better than yours (my hair seems much thicker) and you've already had 5,500 and are going back for me. I have been told between 5,000-6,000 for me. Do you have any opinions about this?
  10. Thanks. My crown is over the half way point I'd say but I have very thick hair surrounding it so I can get away with it. I am going to visit a few doctors later this year but I want to get as much info before I go.
  11. Hi! So I hadn't really thought about the punch size before and the scars it may leave. Does anybody have any idea what the ideal and max./min. sized punch is? I know the difference between the motor and manual punch but I am talking about the size of the tool fr the extraction. I ask because I am debating getting just the top and hairline done and leaving the crown for a couple of years but it is already quite bald. The best way to deal with this would be to shave the hair short (which really suits my head shape anyway) however, I am concerned (but not massively if I am honest) about the scars. I used to have a number 2 for years when I was in my teens and early 20s and I looked just fine and it seems a number 2 is fine for FUE scars anyway. What are more knowledgable people's thoughts?
  12. One leading doctor's representative has told me the doctor doesn't do crown work until the patient is 35. They said it is because at that age the hairloss in the area is more stable and the doctor knows wht they're dealing with then. Does this not apply to the whole head then? Would it not be better to wait until I am 35 and then having FUE?
  13. Hello everybody! Has anybody got any strategies to make the most of the "tuft" at the front of the head? I have very little hair immediately behind it but my hair is so thick on the sides and mid-scalp that it masks this. This is good as the tuft looks bad on bald men but I also think for men contemplating surgery, it can be good as a focal point to form a hairline natural to you. It also means fewer grafts. Has anybody got any opinions?
  14. I can't believe the waiting time for some doctors. Dr de Freitas has got back to me and said they are accepting new patients from Feb 2018 onwards, that the doctor won't be able to get back to me about my case for another 3-4 months AND it isn't even him that does the whole procedure. He has nurses that do the extraction. Surely my situation will have change between now and 4 months and even more so between now and next year. Madness!
  15. During my research for doctors, I found a clinic, I think in England, that uses technolgy to "map" your scalp. This means you can find out exactly how many grafts your donor area has and how many hairs per graft there are (how many 1s, 2s and 3s). It was quite reasonably priced and I think it is better than the traditional method of doing it by the eye. I have had been told numerous numbers between 5000-6500 grafts in my donor area. This would be definitive. My question is, where did I see it? It was with a very good surgeon I just can't remember with which one. Any ideas?
  16. So, now you have essentially just given yourself a new head of hair (looks great btw - well done), does this mean you can stop with the medication and treatments? The hair can't fall out now.
  17. Hello. 2,500 grafts is 6,000 euros including accommodation. I am not sure how he works the price out per graft. Sales tax/VAT is included in that quote. There have been a few stories on here with pictures and he was also the head surgeon at a clinic whose name escapes me at the moment (on phone and the internet is too slow to look it up, sorry). Check those out. It is really good work. The English language website is ran by his ex-representative and is no longer in use. Are you interested in surgery with him?
  18. What are MSM supplements? I will be in Belgium for about 2 weeks after the procedure anyway. Could you elaborate on the pitfalls you're talking about please?!
  19. Sound advice again. Thanks! I will cut down on the usage. Monday and Thursdays from now on.
  20. Thanks for the reply. Dr Erdogan in Turkey but although he does good work, I find he uses a LOT of grafts to do small areas. Dr Villnow too, also in Belgium. He doesn't do the whole procedure himself though. What I liked about De Reys is he has a conservative policy and thinks of the future too. As I said, I don't need to have an 18 year old year hairline to consider this a success. If I am not bald then I will be happy. Just filling in what I have so it looks natural for the years to come will be a great result for me. I wouldn't even mind keeping my hair short for the rest of my life. Quite low expectations to be honest. I understand some other people on here have differing goals/objectives and expected outcomes but I'd rather look ok for a long time to come than great for 5-10 years and then bad afterwards. I saw one user posting pictures of his crown and saying he has lost the battle. I probably didn't that much hair on my crown when I was 16 (this is a lie)! I am quite pale so the redness may well affect me. I do have hair that will cover it yes. I just need to be eating a high protein diet to make the hair grow back quicker so I can use it to cover it up. Why close to the bathroom? The point about food shopping is a good one. I hadn't thought of that. I will be renting an apartment on AirBnB to recover in Brussels I think so this is good advice.
  21. How many times a week would you suggest using Nizoral shampoo? I have been using it everyday for about a month or two now (I wash my hair with H&S shampoo first to clean the scalp and then use the Nizoral afterwards - leaving it on for as long as it takes me to brush my teeth; a minute or two +/-). However, I have been reading on other posts that this is bad and is too much. What is the concensus then?
  22. Hello! I have decided to go ahead and get FUE with Dr De Reys in Belgium. I have seen excellent results from him and I like the fact he does the whole procedure himself and doesn't delegate the work to technicians or apprentices. I have also been in touch with a few other surgeons and I have decided to go with him. I will get 2,500 grafts and some surgeons say I am Norwood 3 and others 4. My donor area is estimated to be between 5,000 and 6,000 from the photos I have sent them. I want a conservative hairline, more to "fill in" what I already have rather than give myself the George Clooney hairline I had when I was 18. I think this is more sustainable for the future. It helps I have a "tuft" which he can use in the hairline. For those that have done FUE already, I have a few questions. 1) Any tips on how to calm down the post-surgery redness? I can take 3 weeks off work to get it done so I ideally want the redness to have gone in this time (or as much as possible). 2) Any pre-surgery advice? I was thinking about getting head massages leading up to the surgery to increase blood flow to the scalp but I am not sure if this is worth it or not. 3) How many days would pre-op would you give to recover from the flight? I don't want to arrive and then have the op done the next days as I have read the flight can temporarily affect blood flow to the scalp. On the other hand, I want as much time as possible after the op to recover before flying back home. As I said, I will only have 3 weeks in total. 4) Any other general advice? Thanks!
