  1. Hi Brutus, I think you've received some good advice so far. As Spanker pointed out, doing nothing is sometimes the best option. This is of course up to you. What is your dad's Norwood level? Do you have some pictures with the hair system on?
  2. Bill, Have you ever considered recommending Dr. Lupanzula? If so, do you mind sharing why he wasn't recommended?
  3. You're welcome Kevin. I think that sounds like a solid plan. Thinking about your hair loss too much is never a good thing. I think most men with a Norwood 6 pattern can expect a result similar to what Chris from Vancouver got. Yes, he has thin hair but also slightly wavy, which really added that extra touch to his result, especially in the front. Of course, in the mid scalp and crown, he has little hair. This is why I mentioned hair systems as an alternative. You should check it out, at least. Hair system is just a fancy word for wig, rug, etc. But the tech has come a long way. Let me know if you would like me to PM you some good websites similar to this one but with a focus on hair systems. Cheers!
  4. You must define your expectations and ensure that you would be happy with a thinning head of hair, especially in the vertex/crown area. Remember that high density crown restoration is extremely rare for a Norwood 6. You will essentially go from being bald to balding. You've got a huge area to cover, and you're only 29 years old. Remember that hair loss is progressive. What baldness pattern does your dad have? Other family members? In addition, are you emotionally prepared to deal with a failed surgery? When these large FUT mega sessions work, they work very well (especially for someone with good characteristics). However, no-one wants to be that guy who had a 5000 graft mega session that didn't grow well. With a 30-35 cm long strip scar that you now have to hide (someone mentioned a guard 5, everything else is gravy, I agree). Unless you can really ratchet down your expectations significantly, I would think long and hard before diving into the life-long commitment that hair restoration surgery may entail for someone with a lot of hair loss at an already young age: Open crown Strip scar Balding appearance Bald crown (certainly balding if lucky) Future hair loss Poor growth Unnatural appearance (should your hair loss continue) Are you based in the U.S.? Have you considered visiting Dr. Konior or Dr. Ron Shapiro in person? Finally, have you considered getting a high quality hair system? I am a fan and it may be an option to consider. Good luck.
  5. I wouldn't exactly refer to a strip scar as minimal. In many cases, it can go from one ear to another, which will prevent a young man from ever wearing his hair short again. This isn't minimal; this is a serious decision that one should think over very carefully. Once you're cut, you're cut. This goes for any form of surgery. Secondly, in order to get these high graft numbers (5000+ grafts), one must take a wide and long scar. This may result in a stretched strip scar going from one ear to another. We don't talk about the big strip scars that these mega sessions may leave behind nearly enough. Thirdly, some men have abruptly changing hair directions in the donor zone, which make a strip scar even more visible. This phenomenon essentially makes FUT unfavorable for many men because it makes the donor zone appear as if it were thinning, hence, showing the scar. Finally, another important factor to consider is that FUE allows for smaller and more personalized session sizes. As mentioned previously, in order for a FUT session to really yield 5000+ grafts, a wide and long strip is a necessary evil. When they work, they work very well. However, no one wants to be that guy who had a failed 5000+ mega session with poor growth. They do occur. Can you live with that possibility? What do you do when it fails? In contrast, FUE allows for smaller session sizes without compromising future donor availability. More specifically, laxity decreases after each subsequent procedure with FUT. This is a non-issue with FUE. I've seen excellent Doctors, such as Dr. Lorenzo, get 6000-7000+ FUE grafts from an average donor zone on a frequent basis (although in smaller, more conservative sessions). That way, if something goes wrong, there are more grafts in the bank. You don't want to put all of your eggs in the same basket, especially not for a decision as important as modifying your appearance. Just my two scents. Consult with a Doctor.
  6. I am confused. Are non-recommended/suspended surgeons allowed to advertise on the forum?
  7. Rashid has four things going against him: 1. His young age 2. Advanced hair loss 3. Poor donor zone 4. Retrograde alopecia. YOLO works better when the odds are in your favor.
  8. In my opinion, SMP is better used as a filler rather than a stand alone option. Some representatives and forum visitors have had successful outcomes, but just like body hair, it should be used as a filler, that little extra to give the illusion of more density. Should you go this route, make sure that you do your due diligence and find one of the best clinics in the world to do your procedure. And make sure that it's temporary SMP, as mentioned by Jon86 above. With that said, my advise to you is to do nothing at all unless you can really ratchet down your expectations significantly. Are the odds in your favor that a transplant performed today will look good in 20 years from now? You've got a huge area of hair loss, a severely limited donor zone, with average characteristics. Clinics have already turned you down; these clinics are being very honest with you. If I were you, this is what I would be considering right now: a) Buzz cut. Wear a buzz cut for one month to see how you like it. b) A hair system. c) Do nothing at all. I hope it all works out well for you.
  9. Why don't you see your HT Doctor in person or at the very least send him some high definition photographs of the concerned area. This may put your mind at rest. Good luck.
  10. 5,100 grafts spread out over an area as large as 150-200 cm2 plus: a) poor hair characteristics (thin hair, short donor, more 1 and 2 hair grafts) b) Unforgiving lighting c) short hair d) high color contrast. should result in something similar to this. In some situations, this may be what some Norwood 5 patients should expect. Edit: I just watched the video again. The before pictures show a huge area of hair loss.
  11. Dr. Lorenzo gives us a very good idea of what someone with a high norwood pattern should expect. I can think of a few FUE surgeons who are as good as Dr. Lorenzo but no one who is better.
  12. Pictures can be deceiving, HOWEVER, if these pictures tell the truth, you are not a candidate. Listen, when a Doctor rejects you, he is doing it because he knows that a procedure won't meet your long-term interests. I strongly disagree with those recommending a body hair transplant on a Norwood 6 with severe retrograde alopecia (if the pics are telling the truth). 20,000 pubic hairs will look like 20,000 pubic hairs growing in the wrong place. 10,000 beard grafts will look like 10,000 beard grafts, and so on. I am convinced that in 20 years from now, we will look back at the industry state of today in complete shock that body hair was still being used as a stand alone procedure in 2016. Don't do it! Right now you look natural. Don't mess with that! Why don't you catch a train to Brussels and meet with Dr. Bisanga in person. He's very ethical and will tell it to you the way it is. Good luck. Edit. One more thing to consider: A hair system. Many results today just blow me away.
  13. Hey Citizen. Thanks for sharing and please keep us updated.
  14. I feel that with your level of retrograde alopecia and already existing hair loss, you would be having a hair transplant just for the sake of having one. Without stabilizing your hair loss, I feel the best thing to do is to do nothing at all. In my opinion, body hair should stay where it is. It just doesn't look natural. Have you looked into getting a hair system? PM me if you would like some good links.
  15. Why is it that the root stays dormant for 3 months? Wouldn't it be cool if we could find a way to bypass this 3 month dormant stage? You'd have hair growing from the beginning.
  16. I think this is a great hair transplant. In fact, this is what it is all about. Great job!
  17. Isn't it funny how the name Dr. Doganay has become synonymous with commonplace and poor growth? NoMoreHopes: I had a failed surgery with a well-known surgeon in Turkey. HTsoon: Was it Doganay? LOL. NoMoreHopes, I am really sorry to hear this. Have you consulted with a top Doctor in regards to your situation and what can be done? Perhaps you may consider visiting a top Doctor to evaluate your situation. Out of curiosity, which Norwood are you?
  18. I think that you have to be very careful with using beard hair. It should only be used as a filler and very conservatively. Beard hair is also more inconsistent. It is therefore difficult to predict growth. The texture of beard hair is often different too. Mine has three colors, including black. My scalp hair is blonde! In my opinion, beard hair should only be used after you have used up all of your scalp hair. Beard hair growing on top of one's head just doesn't look natural on most men, in my opinion.
  19. GOTCHA! or not.... perhaps a third option? MFUE!!!!!!! Now, which is it? haha
