  1. Wow the transplanted hairline is near perfect, can't even tell he had a HT. I like how the hair piece is complimenting the HT and not the other way around. Goes to show how effective a HT can be if done properly.
  2. The effects of Fin should overshadow those of Saw Palmeto. Fin does what Saw Palmeto does, just much much better. So my guess is you wouldn't notice much of anything. Personally I wouldn't bother with Saw Palmeto, those who use it for hairloss are generally looking for a substitute to Fin. But since you're already on Fin I don't see the point. If you want to reduce DHT levels even more, I would recommend upping your dosage of Fin... or if you want to get extreme, maybe try some Duasteride. With Fin you can block up to around 70% DHT, with Dut I believe you can go over 90% (very potent, use with caution).
  3. Well looks like he lived happily ever after, because a professional photographer set up a pic with him and his wife. Beginning to tear up a little... I just love a happy ending. No but the actual result looks pretty decent. The left side of his hairline looks a bit odd because hairs from the previous HT (I presume?) are notcieably scattered below the new hairline. I guess he can laser hair remove those if he wants.
  4. For casual dating, heck no. Never bring it up! As long as I had the HT done before meeting the person, I would never speak of it. Now if I was dating someone while getting a HT, coming clean would probably be unavoidable unless procedure was really small.
  5. Unfortunately I don't think that's the case, there are a lot of people who have accounts on this website. The ones who don't get sides are less likely to post, not just because they're less interested but also because they're probably less active on the forum. People with problems are more likely to be active and participate in the discussion. You'll probably find a fairly large percentage of people who respond here have side effects, while multiple clinical studies have tested thousands of people and all seem to point to more around 2%. Not saying the studies are perfect, but I tend to trust them more than a handful of people posting in a thread online.
  6. I was under the impression there's not really any serious side effects from Minoxidil. As for Fin, you're really better off reading as many clinical studies as you can. The results from any poll you get online will be pretty biased. Those who have problems are much more likely to be on the internet posting/reading about it. For what it's worth, Fin - 0.25mg, no sides, 3 weeks Min - No sides, 7 months
  7. The pictures give very limited views and the comparison is exagerrated, but... it looks cool. In preop pics hair around recipient area is wet and brushed apart to emphasize thinning. In postop pics hair is dry and styled. Not a great comparison, and again very limited views. The term "lunchtime hair transplant" is also a bit unsettling to be honest. I'm sure it was meant to be silly and point out how his session was small, but it can underplay the seriousness of the procedure as if to say, Experiencing hairloss? We'll fix it during your lunch break! Come on down! Don't bother doing loads of research, this is not a big deal! He may have had a marvelous result, but the way the case is presented it's not entirely clear and it's done in an exagerrated way. So instead of just assuming this result turned out great based on limited, biased pictures... I'd instead like to point out, no, actually that can't really be determined and I would really like to see more impartial reporting.
  8. It's a flat-dose response rate drug, meaning once you've reached a minimum threshold amount going over that has comparatively little gain. The minimum threshold seems to be about 0.05mg. Yes, that's 0.05mg as in 1/20th a single mg. Here's an excerpt from one such study that confirms this, Personally if you're looking for a minimum dosage I would recommend 0.25mg, which can be done relatively easily by cutting 1mg pills into quarters. A dosage of just 0.25mg actually has very similiar potency as 5mg... which not only saves money but more importantly might curtail side effects. In terms of side effects it theoretically might not matter, because you're still reducing your DHT levels by a similiar amount... but no one really knows for sure, and it's sure as heck worth a shot especially if you're planning on being on it for the rest of your life right?
  9. Price should never be the driving factor when determining a HT doc or general details of the procedure. Pick a doctor based on results. Aim for getting the amount of grafts you actually need. If you need more money, save up. You can't save up or want the HT now? Then you're not ready for a HT. OP, you'll probably read what I just wrote and think "ya k thanks" so let me help you out here, Price should never be the driving factor Repeat after me, Price should never be the driving factor Also I should mention, Price should never be the driving factor Do you understand now? Any questions? I didn't read this whole thread but it seems you're looking for a "deal" on a hair transplant as if you're buying a used car. If that's the case, cancel your procedure immediately. Nothing more needs to be said. The rest of the details are irrelevant. You've gone about this wrong. Time to wipe the board clean and draw up a new plan.
  10. Interesting, is this really a facelift scar? Looks more like a browlift scar. The result is pretty good but to be honest the density could be better. I say this because the density in the transplanted areas that had hair to begin with preop seem to be lower postop. In other words, hairs were transplanted in areas that had hair and the result was even less hair. What was the yield rate? Did she have any permanent shockloss?
  11. Medication that systematically inhibits DHT (Fin) is basically the closest thing to a cure for hairloss, but it's mostly preventative in that typically you don't regrow a whole lot of hair but rather maintain what you have. Minoxidil is helpful but not as effective overall. In the short run, Minoxidil can yield possibly as good or even better results than Fin. But in the long run it loses out. It's not great at maintaing but rather helps turn back the clock a handful of years. In other words, after those handful of years you'll be back to your starting point. Hair transplants put a bandage over the problem. If you're serious about your hairloss I think Fin is worth a try. It definitely works. There have been several scientific tests showing side effects occur in only around 2% people. On the internet it can seem like this number is much higher, because people who don't have problems don't go out of there way to post online "Well just wanted to report I've been on the drug and... nothing bad has happened". Millions have used the drug. I would suggest starting out with a very low dosage and if you get side effects you can stop.
  12. I don't think there is a definitive answer because there hasn't been a major, credible test between 5% and 2% that I know of but in all liklihood 2% twice a day is more effective than 5% once per day. Can't say for sure how that translates to side effects.
  13. Can't comment on those doctors, but are you looking at just doing your crown? If so, you're looking at around 1000-2000 grafts depending on how aggressive you want to get. You don't want to pack the crown too densely as just maintainig a general illusion of coverage helps save donor grafts for the future. The hairline area is different. The best thing for you to do now though is research hair treatments and find out what you can do to prevent future loss. You will lose a lot more hair in the coming years. Trust me. Happens to everyone. If you do a HT but don't prepare for the future, you'll be chasing your tail. Specifically you want to look into Finasteride, Minoxidil, and Nizoral... in that order. Ideally you want to take all three. They're proven to work, particularly Fin. Also, if you get on Fin and/or Minoxidil for 6 months, you may actually regrow a bunch of hair and need an even smaller HT procedure.
  14. Depends on your defnition of "successful". Can your hair be improved? Yes. The question is, what will satisfy you.
  15. To be honest it's a little troubling you're on the drug but didn't know this! How long have you been on it? If you're not actually having a problem, I wouldn't worry about it. You would experience those side effects shortly after starting. If you are having problems, then yes maybe lower the dosage or stop. It could possibly be true Fin can cause permanent sexual side effects, but in the cases where people still have problems after quitting it's not clear if they would have had similiar problems taking just sugar pills. People lose sexual desire for all kinds of reasons. But yes, there is a risk. I believe the large majority of people on Fin are fine, and personally have had no problems so far.
  16. Based on just what I've read while doing research I can tell you there are people who regret having FUE done. But I think in pretty much all cases it was because, for some reason, they got a low yield result and/or permanent shock loss. Sometimes this was because the doctor wasn't the best, sometimes it was just unexplainable. There have been cases where a top doctor has a poor result, but no one is sure why. One that comes to mind is mpbsucks4545 who after a year was not happy with his result from Feriduni, http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/163495-2-968-fue-dr-feriduni.html
  17. I would tell her as soon as possible, she may be flustered at first but if she doesn't come around and support you, as harsh as they may sound, she's not the right one for you.
  18. Were those pictures taken with a potato? I haven't heard of HDC before, but considering Feriduni is one of the very best if not the best in the world for hairlines if I had to take a guess I'd say you're probably better off with Feriduni.
  19. If nothing else was suspicious I personally wouldn't think much of it. So, is anything else suspicious or out of place about this doctor?
  20. Feriduni did address my question and said it would be alright... so long as it absolutely did not touch any of the recipient area. lol So for me the issue would be the headband touching part of the temple point work (sides of head). But I think I found a bandage on Amazon that secures the ear by going under the chin and over the top of the head, which should not touch anything. I think I might go that route.
  21. You da man Bill, and of course I spent 5 minutes locating all of this stuff only to then read the part where you already did it for me haha Thanks
  22. Thanks Future_HT_Doc. I wonder if anyone has been able to successfully stop notifications.
  23. I don't know what your hair looked like before but it's certainly very impressive now. Wow. Congrats!
