  1. I wish they would have addressed the cost of the surgery for those of us who will benefit if affordable. Or, is this going to be something that is going to cost far too much for most of us.
  2. I agree. However, we should be able to see within the next 12-18 months whether or not the technique will work for this patient. Regardless, this is exciting
  3. I think that's wise GodAwful. Always better to be safe than sorry. You want to be sure that you're going to get the results right the first time. Going through surgery is an emotional rollercoaster; you don't want to be let down.
  4. Glad to head that you're pleased with the results so far. It's a great feeling, isn't it?
  5. First thing you should change, is your perception about what a hair transplant is. It's not a cure, it is a treatment. Realize that although you have one hair transplant, you will more than likely continue to shed native hair (hair that is in the recipient area). That means, you will have to remain on medications and other treatments, and may have to undergo further hair transplants in order to keep up with desired results. Keep that in mind before proceeding. If I read correctly, which I may not have since I tend to skim through posts, you said you were no longer taking medications. You may want to reconsider that
  6. I agree Mickey. It is a great result, no denying that. I looked at the pictures again. If it were me, I would probably want a little more density so that I didn't see scalp. Personal preference.
  7. This is indeed exciting news. I hope to see this evolve into something big. Those of us who have limited donor to address present and future balding may finally not be without hope.
  8. Looks generally great. I would just like a little thicket fora hair line. Does he plan on going through another pass to increase density?
  9. Personally, for me, I never trust official credentials. Personally, I wouldn't care if my surgeon wasn't a doctor, never went to college and worked at McDonalds his whole life and did Hair Transplants on the side (if that were legal). The only thing that matters to me is the track record he/she has with the community and what results they have put out for xx% of the population. Likewise, I don't care if a surgeon belongs to any of these "fancy" organizations. Truth be told, I wouldn't like most of them work with me. Find a surgeon whose results match your goals. Search to forums for patients who had great results, and also search the internet for bad results. By finding bad results you can sometimes see what kind of a person your Dr is and how the remedy bad transplants. Most of the great surgeons guarantee that you will have a good hair transplant.
  10. Great result. Guy had a lot of head to cover, but it looks as though it was covered in a reasonable amount of grafts.
  11. You have minor recession. Get on minoxidil and finasteride if you want to slow it down or stop it. Having nobody in your family being bald is already a positive thing. You may not suffer heavy balding like someone whose family is bald. However, you may want to prepare for the worst, because I'm in the same situation whereas I am destined to be a high NW victim.
  12. As has already been said. Strip surgeries are done best in North America, FUEs are done best in Europe. That said, Dr Erdogan, Demisroy, and Doganay are recommended on the daily here. Actually, I think they are getting recommended more and more here as more and more people are searching for affordable quality. Yes Belgium has incredible surgeons, but they are significantly more expensive than those previously listed.
  13. Good result. However, I tend to like more well defined hairlines. Maybe it's just the way his hair is styled that's bothering me.
  14. A lot of strip only doctors find it as the gold standard and are quick to discredit FUE. Remember, although they are medical doctors, they are still trying to run a business and in turn want your money. There are many great doctors out there that are more truthful, thankfully, but still go with the general consensus out there. You are far much better off going with FUE. The healng time for strip can get annoying especially if you live an active life. I would advise that you either don't have a surgery, since your hair is really good, or go with FUE to achieve your ideal hairline.
  15. That's great GaelicDawn! Now the fun begins Can't wait to see the pictures.
  16. If you only need 1,000 grafts, then I would never put a scar on your head and risk never being able to shave down later... Don't even think of strip surgery, in my opinion. Go FUE and don't look back. It's quite a shame that you may have to fly to turkey to get a good hairline and surgery, because I imagine that could cost a lot of money for such a small number of grafts. However, you won't be disappointed.
  17. This is a very exciting piece of information. I am extremely excited for many reasons. I hope that it's not going to cost too much for any normal person to afford if it is indeed what we are all expecting.
  18. Don't even worry about trying to distinguish what hair is coming through, whether it's shock-lossed hair that is returning or simply transplanted hair. You're going to drive yourself nuts! What's important is that you're going to see a dramatic improvement from the pre-op. However, just forget about that for now. Time flies so much faster if you just forget. I had my transplant at Shapiro 14 weeks ago and I can already tell a significant difference between pre-op and now, and that's only the beginning (I hope). You were in great hands, you chose a great clinic, just worry about educating the future generation and let the hairs do their work..
