  1. I really don't know why people are freaking out. I'm the one who was supposed to freak out after developing a necrosis after my first HT (4100+ grafts) with ASMED (mostly my fault). I went back for a touch up for 600+ grafts and now almost at 6 months, I can tell that I LOVE my hairline and my HT overall, and I'm not even done yet. Everyday I feel my hair is getting thicker and more dense. Nobody could tell I had anything done and all I get is compliments. People who DO know I've had it done still can't believe how great it looks. Some people should never get HT, they are emotionally not equipped for it. Let me try to get it through your head. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE THE SAME DENSITY as your original hair. The girl who cuts my hair still can't believe how good my hair is. She's now thinking having her husband getting HT done. And all she said was: if he ever gets it done, I want YOUR doctor to do it for him. I told her to do research and find a doctor that is suitable for HIM. But she is very adamant because I've known her for 15+ years.
  2. I got a haircut last night. This is from 5 min ago. I'm only little under 6 months. so the growth is still coming and I feel many prickly hairs in the hairline.
  3. It's been almost 6 months since my touch up procedure and I'm loving my results so far. 3 pictures were taken with my phone under bright spot lights yesterday. Last picture is where I started from. I can't believe how far I've come. I feel my hair is getting thicker each day/week. THANK YOU ASMED.
  4. There are many reasons for necrosis. Smoking is one of them and that's what likely caused it in my situation. But they did take care of me. I'm a happy camper. I'm not trying to convince you but since you are expressing your dissatisfaction, I'm offering an opposite experience. I've looked at your thread where you asked to repair your "straight" hairline. I really think you look quiet good, truly. Maybe some people just have different expectations. You look like you have a head of hair of a 20 yr old, really.
  5. Not at all. Mostly was my fault. But I really think there is no point in convincing you. You've made up your mind. We get it, you are not happy with your result but you just sound like you are on a crusade to tarnish ASMED. I hope you can get your situation fixed to your satisfaction. EDIT: Gasthoerer beat me to it.
  6. No, I developed it after my first HT. Things like necrosis are very rare but they do happen. I've had both HT's at ASMED. Dr. Erdogan really took care of me. I can't say enough good things about ASMED.
  7. How can anyone say Dr. Erdogan been a poor standard? I'm a patient who developed a necrosis after my first HT. I since then had a small touch (unshaven FUE) up with Dr. Erdogan and I could not be happier. It's been 5 months since my touch up and my hair looks great. People who know I've had an HT still cannot believe how natural it looks. I've seen 2 people who don't like their result: HT0416 and Payam. Payam still has time to see a full result. Other people who voiced their dissatisfaction are the ones who either don't show pictures or show their picture in the worst possible way to minimize the result. P.S. I will update this community with my 6 months results soon.
  8. I had my recipient area pink for about 4 months. It's normal.
  9. You pay per graft. Grafts consist of 1,2,3,4 hairs (sometimes even more than 4 hairs per graft).
  10. Thanks for your post but I would urge you to wait until you get your final result. There were many cases where people were VERY happy during their operation and come back crying a few months later when the result is not what they hoped. Also, would you mind posting a few photos of your procedure?
  11. Thanks Bill, This change is VERY welcomed. It is really difficult to read/write on forums using a phone, so I'm glad you are finally doing it.
  12. I was pink almost up to 6 months. It will eventually fade.
  13. I think you look exactly where you should be at this stage. Just keep being patient. The fun starts in about 2-3 months
  14. Hello Everyone, I'm a patient who unfortunately developed a necrosis after 4147 grafts in July 27 2017. You can read my original story here: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/187587-4147-grafts-fue-asmed-dr-erdogan.html Arrival I arrived in Istanbul on Sunday, May 20th. This trip was a lot easier because I knew exactly what to do, where to go and what to expect. I was picked up by Ihmet (one of ASMED drivers) and taken to Sheraton Hotel. The hotel is gorgeous, very modern. Consultation The next day at around noon I was picked up by ASMED driver and was taken to the clinic to see Dr Koray for a consultation. I was first greeted by Sema another patient coordinator (Suzana was in the surgery room with another patient), to fill out some paperwork. After I've filled out the form I've met with Dr. Umut (Anesthesiologist). He asked me the same questions as the last time about allergies to anesthesia etc. I told him that after my previous procedure I had very bad itching. He immediately walked to the cabinet in the room, grabbed some pills, handed to me and said: After the procedure if you feel any itching, take one pill a day and it should help. He also gave me pain killers in case I would feel pain after my procedure. Right after I was taken to take pictures. I then went to see Dr. Koray. When I walked into Dr. Koray's office, the first thing that Dr. Koray said was: I'm so sorry you had to go through necrosis. He felt so bad. He gave me a big bear hug and said "Let's take care of this". Initially this procedure was supposed be a shaved FUE, just like the first time but after discussing it with Dr. Koray, it was decided that in this case an unshaved Long Hair FUE was achievable. I was over the moon with the news because I knew that I don't have to go through a long process of growing the hair back. We spent about 45 minutes with Dr. Koray, his head nurse and my patient coordinator Suzana (more about her later) looking at all my pictures on a big screen. Dr. Koray looked at all photos pre op, post op and new photos taken a few minutes prior. Dr. Koray said: "We will do this procedure slow and meticulous because the skin from necrosis was new and fragile". After the consultation we said our goodbyes and I was taken back to the hotel. My procedure was scheduled to be the next day. Procedure I was picked up by the driver at 7:15 am and taken to the clinic. I was greeted by a receptionist and Suzana. ASMED really puts you at ease. It felt warm. They really do take care of you. I was taken downstairs by Suzana to change my clothes into scrubs. I was then taken to the OR. Few minutes later my surgical team arrived. One of the girls was from my first procedure. It was great seeing her again. We had our small talk, laughed and then I was getting ready for my procedure. I knew the anesthesia shots suck big time. But this time they said I won't need as many and because I already had my first procedure and something about nerves being traumatized already, I won't feel as much pain. They were right. First couple shot stung a little then I couldn't feel a thing. The extraction of long hair grafts started at 8:00 am and took almost the same time as my first shaved FUE procedure of 2200 grafts (on day one). They were going very slow and meticulous. They even showed me a few of my long hair grafts. It was so cool. Dr. Umut came in few times to make sure I was feeling comfortable. We finished the extractions at around 11:30-12 noon. Then lunch was provided. It was very delicious. After lunch, we went back to the OR. Dr. Koray came in and made the incisions and nurses started implanting. I was done at around 3:30 pm. I was then taken to the wash room. My head nurse washed my hair very carefully. They also brought me tea and toasted pastry. Dr. Koray walks in to see the final work. He look at my head and said: "I really think we did it this time. Everything looks pink and healthy". After washing my hair, I went to the photo room where new set of photos were taken. I have to say that this time the procedure felt so much easier. Granted I only had 602 grafts (comparing to 4147 grafts the first time). Even anesthesia wasn't as bad. After my first operation I felt like my head was under a helmet all the time and it lasted a while. This time, the very next day I almost didn't feel anything. I stayed 3 extra days in Turkey to get my daily wash. I know that the first 3 days are very important and wanted to make sure they wash it. I was little scared to do it myself the first 3 days lol Suzana, my patient coordinator I would like to say a few words about Suzana. This girl is incredible. After few initial emails, we started communicating by using WhatsApp. At times I felt she didn't even get enough sleep because she was replying to my questions and concerns way passed her bedtime (8-10 pm her time). She was constantly sending me messages at any time of the day. When I was in Turkey, she would send me messages around 8-9 pm telling me what to expect the following day. She's a machine. Dr. Koray, if you are reading this, Suzana deserves a big RAISE lol. On my last day, we had a little concert singing and playing piano in the lobby. It was great. Dr. Koray You are one of the most ethical doctors I know. I felt I was getting a 5 star treatment from a 5 star clinic by a world class surgeon. So again Dr Koray, Suzana and your entire staff, THANK YOU SO MUCH for everything you have done for me.
  15. I had no pain after day 3 but the itch was a son of a bi***. I had the itching bad for about first 3 months.
  16. Darn, I'll be there on May 21st. But don't worry, you will meet plenty of ASMED patients there. We are all in the "balding brother" club. So people you will meet will be just like YOU. Everyone wants support so it was great for me to meet other people in the same boat as me. Good luck.
  17. It did feel like a mini vacation ASMED gives you a mushroom hat, its little off putting but I rolled it up and it looked like a fedora hat. I've seen many patients at the airport on the way back who had FUE done at other clinics (I assume) and none of them covered their head. I first covered it but once I was going through security check point (you actually go through at least 3 check points) they make you take off your hat so TSA (or whatever Turkish equivalent name is) can see what's under your hat (just for about 2-3 seconds). I then decided it's not worth wearing a hat so I took it off. Nobody really cares and you will never see these people ever in your life. I do recommend buying your own neck pillow. The one ASMED gives you is an air pillow and it runs out of air pretty quickly. I bought mine at the Istanbul airport on the way back, I think it was about $30 bucks. But you can probably get a good one cheaper on Amazon. Good luck.
  18. I'm from Phoenix AZ, so I flew to San Francisco (2 hours flight) and then a straight flight to Istanbul (about 10 hours flight). I picked an isle seat and it was pretty good. If you fly with Turkish Airlines (like I did), you can watch tons of movies FREE of charge. They feed you at least 3 times, the food is quite good. There are straight flights from all over US. LA, SF, NY, Chicago. You can literally pick any of them. Make sure you pick an isle seat, especially on the way back so you can go the restroom easier to apply a spray every 3 hours. I'm actually scheduled for a touch up procedure for May 22nd. I'll be flying on May 19th. Most flights are pretty much overnight flights, meaning you will arrive the next day (local Turkey time). You do save the day going back, arriving the same date you leave Turkey. So in summary, the flight is not that bad, you watch few movies/TV series and you arrive. You will be greeted by one of ASMED drivers once you exit the international terminal while still being inside the building. The driver then takes you to the hotel. He actually will go inside the hotel, exchange few words with the clerk at the hotel. The clerk will ask for your passport and a credit card. You DON'T pay for your hotel stay with your card, you will pay cash to Dr. Erdogan as he has special rates for his patients. Credit card is needed only if you spend anything in the hotel like food. Food prices are really great for US people. I think the most expensive meal I've had was a steak and it ended up being about $18. Breakfast is included and has a great selection. Good luck.
  19. Markee the travel is really not that bad. You will get picked up from the airport by an ASMED driver before you even step your foot outside. It really is not big of a deal. The hotel is very accommodating, the food is great. It's like a long distance travel to a spa. ASMED really reminds me of a spa.
  20. After discussing with Suzana (my patient coordinator) and Dr. Erdogan, I will go through a shaved FUE after all. Dr. Koray believes this will give me the best result and the way where he can match the hair more perfectly. It sucks to shave again but I think it's worth it.
  21. I'll have to agree. Hotel is a better option and you get to meet (and maybe dine) with other ASMED patients. Hotel is really nice and their food is great.
  22. Update: A touch up procedure is scheduled for May 22nd. Free of charge including my flight from US to Turkey. My procedure will be a long hair FUE (no shaving YAY). I'll arrive in Tureky on May 20th. The next day May 21st is my consultation day and the procedure is the day after. I can't wait. Dr. Erdogan is a world class act. This time my patient coordinator is Suzana (she's amazing, very responsive) as Sevinc (my previous coordinator) is on maternity leave. Wish me luck guys.
  23. I am that patient. And even though I did develop necrosis, my procedure was not as bad as you make it out to be. Complications do happen to the very best of doctors. So my case was more of anomaly. I personally LOVE Erdogan's hairlines. It's all subjective (what we like and don't like).
