It exposes the patient to the possibility that an area of donor will look depleted as compared to non-harvested areas. The best way to ensure pristine donor in the future is to be (skillful, slow and precise while using small punches (not 1mm). If a FUE doctor is so concerned about preserving virgin areas for future use it suggests to me that he's achieving none of those in his extraction technique. While were on the topic - from the photos I would also say that Diep has gone way to HIGH also in the area harvested............almost into the crown area and for sure has gone outside the consensus accepted safe zone for extraction. +10000 I agree with you. It´s so so weird doing this... I had never seen this way and I have been following Forums for 10 years... I´m also thinking that the reason here is that it´s easier and quicker for the person doing the extractions. But what about the patient´s opinion on this? I think this approach should always be discussed with the patient. If this patient wants to wear pretty short hair in the future I´m sure you will be able to see this issue... Apart from this, all looks good up there and the receding hairline will be completely gone in a few months! Thanks for sharing : )

At the moment I’m not happy about donor area compared to others but it’s still early to tell . Imo it does look over harvested but we’ll just have to wait and see . People always give Dr. Diep the blues when it comes to his donor management but at the end his patients never seem to notice and the thread ends up moving forward as if nothing happened. I think you’re good, man. When that hairline comes in you’re going to be sitting pretty. Happy growing and please keep us updated! What relevance is it that you wouldn’t go to Diep? He’s not here asking for your approval he’s sharing his journey. Hi! Yeah sorry I actually agree with you but only considered this once I had closed my laptop and was in bed and I couldn't be bothered get back out of bed to open my laptop to edit the post. Can you do it for me as moderator? I am asking you as you'd need to change your post too or the original comment will be seen still on the quote you cited. Senior Member Tentpole91 Posted April 20, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 20, 2020 Thanks for the update. Your donor looks very similar to mine, which gives me hope that in both of our cases, it is closer to the norm than it is an outlier. The Dr. Diep donor management horse has just about been beaten to death, but I do want to state one final time that I wish he spread out the extractions more evenly throughout the donor, so that even if there is patchiness and sparseness long term, at least it looks symmetrical. That is the thing that continues to stump me.
Regular Member MrAr Posted April 20, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 20, 2020 @Tentpole91 100% agree I have seen some people’s donor completely undetectable of any patches/scars after a month or so . Due to spreading them out . I also would have liked the same .
Senior Member Tentpole91 Posted April 23, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 23, 2020 Do you have any examples of those? I am getting to the point where I need to cut my hair soon, so I will be able to check on how my donor looks after 2.5 months. I honestly don’t really want to check, since I suspect it will look exactly the same as it did 6 weeks ago.
Regular Member MrAr Posted May 20, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 20, 2020 (edited) Tomorrow marks 8 weeks and so far the recovery process has sucked and this ugly duckling phase of no hair has been a bummer . Nothing really to show because of the shedding . I keep buzzing my hair down to a 3 guard . I am very disappointed with my donor area and how extraction was done . Thought whole point of FUE was to be undetected .. this point of how donor looks I minus well have went with FUT . But yeah . Do you guys know when I can see some new hair in recipient area Edited May 20, 2020 by Dadda

Very surprised at this, also the graft placement looks like uniformed rows, not sure of that but many people speak well of this doctor hope it all turns out well for you. 8 weeks is way too soon to tell. I stopped cutting my hair down a couple weeks ago and am now going to start letting it grow out .. my donor in the light looks really noticeable still . Other than that not much to report just popping in to update . Guard on top is about a 7~
Senior Member ITA Posted June 20, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted June 20, 2020 (edited) @Dadda it looks like the right side is recovering, but if you keep taking pics from the right side you can't compare with the left side. Take a pic one that frames the entire donor Tnx Edited June 20, 2020 by Egy
Regular Member MrAr Posted July 2, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 2, 2020 (edited) 13 week update . There’s been a lot growth since last week . In person the hairline looks more dense but the donor is still looking really ugly I even have some scabs still .. guard is 7 on top and 4/3 on sides/back @Tentpole91 done . There is that row appearance a little on mine Edited July 2, 2020 by Dadda
Senior Member Tentpole91 Posted July 2, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted July 2, 2020 @Dadda can you post side profile pictures of the recipient, especially the right side? I noticed some row patterns with the transplant and would love to know if they are still apparent. I’m planning to get a haircut tomorrow and go down to a 2 on the donor. My barber told me that he thought the donor looked a lot better between month 3 and month 4. Now that I am a few weeks out from month 5, curious to see if it has further recovered.
