Hey man - just catching back up on your thread. Wanted to say you're looking great. This is the growth I was hoping for at this stage haha! You're crown results at 5 months and your hairline in the above pics are looking really improved. Excited to see where you're at in come the end of the year!

6 month update!

Coincidentally I just got a haircut today (2nd trim, post-HT) so please excuse the trimmings on my face 😆

Overall I feel happy so far. Let me qualify that, by saying if this was my final result I would be disappointed, but my experience so far and my intuition tells me that I have a way to go yet. I had often looked at the time timeline put out by HT docs showing a pretty linear progression all the way through to 12 months+ as a load of nonsense, but I think it might be quite accurate for me at least.

The thing which bugs me the most is the hairline, where growth is sparse and if I was to expose it fully then it wouldn't look too good. However I can see new sprouts and gradual thickening here so hopefully I end up with an acceptable result after 12 or 18 months. Otherwise the density generally is good and the crown growth has been good, not perfect, but I am realistic because we implanted with lower density in the crown.

Still 12 months of growth and maturation to come. I will probably update less often from here maybe at 9 months and 12 months etc. But let's see, onwards and upwards.

Looking good, man! Things are coming together nicely. I’m sure the sparseness along the hairline will work itself out and will become thicker over time!

Looking forward to seeing where you are at in a few months time!

Hey @LonelyGraft I think the donor looks good as you can see I had a low skin fade and there are some small dots visible where it’s basically bald around the nape area, but tbh I don’t think you’d notice unless you’re a HT nerd (like we all are here)

I neglected to take any photos of the donor but I’ll do it when I get chance.

Cool thanks. Did they tell you how many grafts you have left?

Here's the donor from today. Pretty impressive work by Dr Elif, in my opinion, considering about 4.5k grafts have been whipped out it looks pretty much as before to my eyes.

Forgot to ask how many I have left. Hoping I won't need them for quite some years. Might need a touch up to get the desired result on the hairline, let's see.

I think this looks really well done, with a cool design for your hairline -- a very distinguished gentleman kind of look.

How close is the hairline to your original before loss?

I like that HLC designs it as team. Did all six doctors take part in your initial consult?

Hey @PizzaWolf thanks for your comment 🙂

Yes all the docs were there for the consult with Dr Ozgur taking the lead. In terms of how close it is to my original hairline I’m not sure to be honest because my loss has been very gradual since I was maybe 19 or 20, but not aggressive loss so I’ve sort of forgotten. I would say now it looks better than I was at say 23.

Dr Ozgur made an interesting comment actually that my hairline in the middle is “too low” according to the rule of thirds so they kind of left a little tuft there “as is” and implanted behind it to recreate an appropriate hairline. I told them I like a slight widows peak, which is what I got!

At least from the results I've seen, I think it shows real skill that HLC can truly pull off different hair lines based on the individual. Even with certain well respected clinics, I sometimes feel like they're giving every guy that comes in the "doctor signature" kind of look, if that makes any sense.

Was the beard hair used in the crown to save scalp grafts for future use? If so, it looks like another smart decision by the clinic, because your hair characteristics make it undetectable.

Also, the widow's peak you have now, if I'm understanding correctly, was created by just leaving a residual portion of your original hairline?

Would you go back to HLC if you weren't completely satisfied with the final density?

Either way, I'll shut up now, but this clinic is definitely on my shortlist.

With a British accent, girls here in the US would be lining up for you with this new look.

Looks great! Unnoticeable to even my eyes! Glad it’s coming along!

@PizzaWolf the hairline was kind of a natural result of the hairline I already had I guess, because to make it totally straight would have been somewhat unnatural especially into my 40s (which are closer than I’d like!)

Yes Dr Elif suggested to use a few beard grafts for the crown to preserve the donor

I’d definitely go back to HLC if I needed anything else doing. Great people there and I am happy so I see no reason to change anything 🙂

@Bax thank you man appreciate your support!

How did they decide on 5k grafts? Seems like quite a lot based on your pre-op pics.

They take a tracing of your entire head and mark out the balding areas and densities required on a per square cm basis so hairline gets 50 grafts per cm2 but futher back 30 grafts per cm2 etc.

I really had 2 surgeries in one. The front (2800) and the crown (2100) so that's how we get to that number. Was my decision to try and hit em all in visit albeit over 3 days

Hello everyone

I said I'd update at 9 months and it's almost 10 but better late than never!

Here are my latest progress pics. I am happy overall. It's not perfect I'd like more density in transplanted areas but I don't think I'll go back until at least 5 or 10 years have passed since I am 37 and I don't want to burn through all my donor at such a relatively young age.

I am still hoping for further thickening and maturation because I do seem to be a slow grower and I think there is still some maturation happening.

Hey mate. Looks very good..!! Maybe the crown area could me more dense yes. The crown normally takes more time also, but maybe you could tell this to HLC. I know they have done this final retouches for free.

The front looks very dense and natural.

Maybe some pics with better lighting and wet hair?

Cheers mate

@EvansLawrence the light there is pretty harsh, it’s directly under an LED strip light. I’ll do some wet pics at home for next update for comparison to the pre op. When I see pics from before I get a bit of a shock how bad the recession was...

You’re right though the crown is the weakest part. People say you can get improvement up to 18m on the crown so hopefully a bit more to come?

Hey man. Yes you are right, the light is not bad. I wanted to say sunlight.

The crown is normally slower yes, at least for what I saw and read (I am not the expert here). It depends on each individual case though.

I honestly think it looks amazing. Specially comparing to the previous pics. Even in the crown the differences are huge.

Like if I had to rate I would give a 9,5/10 to the front and a 8/10 to the crown. Maybe you get a 10/10 for the front at month 12 and a 9 or 9,5 to the crown for months 12-14.

You can be very happy man, you did the right choice going to HLC. Im going in february and I would be very satisfied if I get the same quality result than you.

Cheers mate!
