Hey everyone, 8.5 months

I'm really disapointed so far. Very low density. when i comb my hair up ( like the pics) everyone can see the sculp.

I have contacted the clinic about it. they are very nice, and only saying things will improve untill 18 months. i can't see any differnce between month 6 and now.

luckly I comb my hair down and that way it doesn't look sparse and thin.

I still hope thing will improves, but I know that from 8.5-12 the odds of that are low.
I believe I will need a second transplant, so that the density will be reasonable. Unfortunaly the clinic will regard my request only afer 18 months.

:(

I think it looks decent, but I could see the areas that bother you. I think waiting is the reasonable thing to do here, as we all know the fat lady has not sung until 12 months. That said, I believe 12 months is enough time to draw a reasonable conclusion, and if you're not happy at 12 months, you probably wont be at 18. Please private message me and I will reach out to the clinic for you.

thanks,

I think 3K+ grafts is a lot and should provide good cover.

the hairline (1 cm) was transplanted in more density than other areas.

I believe a lot of grafts did not survive. I know because the density in the hairline was the same throughout the hairline (1CM), but in the middle of the hairline, it is thinner than the sides of the hairline (see in the pics above). if all the grafts survived the density should be the same and even.

there also spots where the hair is thinner, that shouldn't happen, it should be even. it happens if some grafts did not survive in than specific area.

by the way, this how I normally go. when I comb it down the looks great and full, but i'm limited to that hair style:

I disagree, between 12-18 month there is not a lot of difference. most growth accure till month 12.

This is true...although, the diameter of your transplanted graft hair follicles could thicken, possibly double in thickeness so while all the hairs have sprouted out you could see improvement further out, as I did at around my 15th month, and I similar to @Kraistoff recent update, so I hope it gets better for you, and in my honest opinion it looks good thus far, could you use a bit more density in the front, yeah, but see how it plays out in another few months. Your haircut currently with it looks good though.

Wrong. The area around the crown will take up to 18 months to fully mature. Thats a fact not an opinion.

I think it’s actually multi grafts that take longer to mature and those are used further back on the scalp

Well we are not talking about a HT in the crown...

I have similar problems as you- very weak behind the hairline, especially on my left side.   Though with mine, if I try to wear my hair down like yours the empty area looks super obvious.  The only way it looks decent is if i wear it straight up in the front with hair spray almost creating a wall with the hairline and coming other hair over so you can't easily see the empty area.  Your's looks great in the pics when it is down

I'm still hoping mine is going to improve over the next 3 months but I'm losing hope.  Like yours, I don't think mine is a botched failure, but I think it should be beter behund the hairline.  It seems to be a very common problem now with ASMED.

Hey & sorry for the late update.

I am not happy with HT density (it's 18 months now). i have talked to the clinic and scheduled for a second HT in the 7.9 (in 2 weeks).

i'll keep you guys posted.

2 photos with the hair up - you can clearly see the poor density

2 photos with the hair down - which is ok and looks good.

i'll keep you posted.

I can see where you would want it better in certain areas but from the pictures I do not see a reason to be "not happy" with the results.

While mine too could definitely use more density in certain areas, I've been very happy with it.

Are they doing the second transplant for free?

To be clear - it's much better than before - that's for sure.

but it is really sparse and thin.- see another pic

i hope a sec HT will do the trick.

i got 1 month off work, i really hope that the hair from the first HT wont get  a shock and shed aswell... my hope is that after a month the original hair +1st Ht hair will grow nornally.

yes this is a free.

Having dark hair and pale skin doesn’t help.

Were you slick bald in that area?

same issue with me really, density isn’t great so I need to style certain way.

It's incredible how large of a difference there is between your good pics and the bad ones.

Thank you for showing both sides of the story.

yup, when i comb it down i get nothing but compliments and it looks very good. when it's up i look like a sick cat :P

i guess the reason is that when i comb it down some of my original hair is covering the HT area, also it has this hair style has less volume so the hair is not spread and it needs less hair for full coverage.

Hi TempleRunner,

I am sorry to see the mediocre yield. You are not the first one getting subpar results with Asmed lately. Did they explain why your yield was low? Any guarantee on second procedure not resulting like first?

Hey Kaya,
No i did not get a reason, I was told that the DR will examin me when i get there, and determind the reason for the poor result, and also the grafts number for the 2nd HT.

I think the garantee don't worth much. i had a garantee the 1st HT :) and look where it got me. also i have a limited amount of grafts and i need to think about the future...

Hey everyone,

Quick update: I arrived yesterday to instanbul and did a pre-op checkup and cosultation with the Dr.

Everyone in the clinic, the Dr and my coordenator, suzana, is amazing and i get the feeling that they will do anything they can to insure my satisfaction.

In the consultation, I asked the Dr the "big questions" - Why did the hair grew with a mediocure density and what are we gonna do differently this time to change that.

He examined me, before and after the shave, and he came to the conclution that even though most of my grafts were doubles (2.1 average) i have alot more singles. He explained that we do not see bald areas, but the density is more or less the same through out the HT area, that means the graft did grow but some as single instead of doubles.

I asked him what is the cause for that, may the grafts got hurt in the proccess? He said that it happen some times when one hair is strong and thick and the other is weaker, and the medical sience do not know yet the particular reason for it. He said propecia reduce the chance for it to happen, but overall it's just happens.

He said that 1200 graft should give me more density, and now because the area is not totaly bald like before, he can do better desity as he is doing less incisions close to one another and more incisions between the first HT hairs. With this number he took in the account that some doubles will grow as singles even though it's been 1.5 years and it's not neceserly going to hapoen again - just to be safe.

Before I came the number i was thinking about was 1000-1200 so his plan is reasnoble in my opinion

I also said that this my sec HT and i don't want to come back again- and i want to be setisfied with outcome - the Dr really appreciated that i put my trust in him once more, even though i'm not happy with density and he promised me i will be happy this time.

I'm not a negative person, and the first HT really improved my situation 1000% than before, so i gave him credit where i thought he did a great job:

1. The extraction was a masterpiece in my opinion - all the hair dressers i go to are amazed - no scars, even extraction - looks completly natural.

2. The hair line is exactly what i wanted (even though lack in density). No zig zag, no doubles, fits perfectly with the shape of my head.

3. The temple point are also very nice and natural.

4. When i comb my hair down it looks great, the lack of density do not shows.

So the op is monday 7.9.20, wish me luck!

I trying to me optimistic and stay positive. Lets hope that in 8 months i will update you guys that i'm super happy!

Here is me with shaved hair- not so bad ;)
