Looking for a good, quality surgeon for the Hairline without an absurdly long waiting list.

Hey all,

Some background info: I am 26 about a Norwood 2 just in the temples. I've been on Fin for about two years. No sides, no further loss. So I want to get the temples filled in a bit. I had a consultation with Dr. Diep who said I have nice thick hair and should expect good results. Only problem is my appointment is scheduled for October.

I would love to get an surgery in January/February. I'm tired of wearing hats/meticously combing my hair. I'm only this young once.

So are there any recommendations? I really appreciate it!

Dr. Diep has lot's of reschedules so it's unlikely you'll need to wait til October if you can be flexible with your schedule.

Mine was originally scheduled for June 2019 but I was able to reschedule to first week January 2019 due to reschedules.

I was contacted with options for two earlier times that I wasn't able to make work so I think as long as you let them know you'd like to be notified of any reschedules you'll likely get in sometime in the spring.

That’s a bit of a paradox man 🙂 The good docs are booked out 6+ months on average. Most have a standby list though. If they pitch this, make sure you get a discount for booking last minute.

You should post some pics? Thick hair is great for density-but make sure you choose a hairline specialist. Or you risk the hairline looking fake.

Like you, I would spend hours in the mirror, trying to make my hairline look artificially straight. Hair loss sucks. No doubt about it.

But you’ve made it this far man. A couple more months won’t hurt, plus you’ll have more time to research, ask questions.

Good luck man... Your post caught my eye because I was around the same age when I had my first hair transplant 🙂 here if you need anything man.

Sounds like you and I are in similar situations.

Check out the post I made earlier this afternoon (link below).  I am considering Erdogan or Rahal for this type of work.  Rahal told me this morning that his earliest current appointment is April 17th.  Not sure about Erdogan, but I don't think his wait time is generally very long, so I would expect he could get you in during the next couple months.

At age 26, your scalp may not show your future loss progression right away.  Sometimes a longer wait is a good thing.  It also shows how busy a surgeon is and the skill.  Also, it shows consumer/patient trust.    Look and evaluate the techniques at how FUE extraction is performed.  Best of luck.

The doctors who produce the best results have long waiting lists and as others have stated, most if not all of them have a standby list.

I would not put a lot of value on filled schedules and waiting lists.

I am aware of doctors that work 4 days in the month. Typically M,T, W, T. They'll create value by saying that they are full the rest of the month.  He is happy doing 8-12 cases a month.  He also avoids giving out discounts because of it.

If a particular doctor is "full" go somewhere else.  Plenty to go around.....but do the research!!

The reverse is also true.  Consultants will start hounding you and giving you special pricing for a last minute slot.  Nothing wrong with this if the doctor is good at what he does so take advantage if your are flexible with your schedule.

No harm in waiting.  You can have time to do more research. Nonetheless, if you have your mind set on a certain surgeon, then my advice is to stick to that. Dont let waiting times sway your initial judgement. Besides, most would have a 6 month wait at least - which brings you close to your currently scheduled appointment.

best of luck.
