advice on meds side effects

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys

I'm new to the forum and looking some informed advice, my hair has been thinning for years now, I would say prob about 10 years or so, very gradual .. I turned 40 last month

at the moment my hairline is receding on both sides but I can style my hair in such a way that its not really noticeable .. I am also slightly thinning around the crown, again If I style my hair it can be easily covered.  My plan is to start a course of meds to see what results I get before planning a procedure if needed.

I have read all the pros and cons of all meds online and I guess its like any drug the side effects depend on the individual.   My main concern like any guy I suppose is the sexual dysfunction side effects that have been reported, my question is, has anyone experienced these side effect and stopped the meds and everything has returned to normal? Im concerned about permenant damage which would completely put me off trying these.

any help appreciated

Yes the truth is only a few of us unlucky souls suffer side effects, I took finasteride im 2007 and suffered some nasty side effects, but I discontinued the medication and after a few months I was back to normal. You can try it and I recommend at the lowest dose possible, that way you let your body become acclimated to the medication.

Warm regards-Melvin

Voxman,

I have gone ahead and removed his signature since I’ve just seen it and somebody reported it. But obviously, we’re not going to see everybody signature unless somebody  actually reports it. Instead of rude comments like yours above stating “come on mods”, why don’t you actually contact us privately or report the post and do your part.

This guy has made 254 posts on this website and in most cases each one is a non-sequiter that amounts to nothing more than a blatant ad for a clinic in Pakistan.

Posters frequently drop the F bomb, tell other posters they're a$$holes, use the 'C' word and more that I find offensive and rude.

I feel I've been a participating member here long enough, always open and transparent,  and felt like I knew you all guys sufficiently to make a friendly 'c'mon mods'.  I would never be rude.

Okay, nuff said..

But to set the record straight I did not say 'come on, mods'; now that would be rude.

I said 'c'mon mods' - and that was directed towards the 60's British Invasion music followers called MODS who are even now planning a protest on illegal Pakistani Hair Clinics.

Vox,

I totally understand your humor, and I agree most of the posts make no sense, but for the most part he hasn’t been rude or abusive, once he does or directly starts spamming I hope that you will notify me or Bill and we will take the appropriate actions. Thanks for your contributions Vox throughout these years cheers?

Vox,

Tone is often difficult to read through text, email and of course, discussion forums. I do apologize if your intention was humor, I guess having been here since 2004, I recall dozens of individuals saying things like “come on Bill“ in a rude way, prompting me to do something.  I guess that particular way of getting our attention has become a pet peeve of mine over the years. It’s nothing personal, but knowing you and your sense of humor, I can appreciate where you’re coming from. Like Melvin said, your contributions and participation is certainly appreciated. Sorry if I misinterpreted your intentions - But after years of being badgered by actual route in the visuals to all said the same thing, I suppose you might understand why  I interpreted it that way.  ?

but thanks for being vigilant in keeping this community free from Spammers ?

best wishes,

Bill

Vox is right and I have no idea how he wasn't already banned. He's literally been advertising for a trashy clinic and making inane, meaningless posts for a year now.

Not sure how "come on" is ever considered rude either, considering how long he'd been around clearly posting for advertising purposes I think its fair to suggest the spam isn't helping anyone and he's being given a free ride for his clinic. It's not a big deal and it's not like Vox has a history of malice so seems a little silly to interpret it that way. And surely mods would prefer it being brought to their attention rather than not, "come on" seems mild as anything to achieve that.

Fairly sure other spam profiles have been banned before, this one just seems very bad at directly advertising (which is clearly its intention) which somehow let it slip through the cracks.

What results did you get from the meds you stuck with if any? was there much growth on thinning areas or did they just slow down your current hair loss ?

Well I use Lipogaine (minoxidil),  Lipogaine big 3 shampoo(ketocanozole) and pumpkin seed oil. I would say i've seen my hair loss slow down significantly.

Interesting line of products, I wonder what is the percentage of Ketoconazole in the shampoo and why is minoxidil not listed (as such) in the ingredients of the lotion?

I do have good and bad sides on my story, as i used to take minoxidil and my urge for sexual activities went lower and lower, that i did face an erectile dysfunction. It was occasional from the start but then it happen to occur more and more often, so i even had to take pills to make it come back to me. I've got my hair back but i had to go through hormone therapy to make it all come back. Not my favorite story to share, but I'm glad it's over now.

Hi
Before transplant, last year on 15.10.17, I got my testosterone total level test. It was 477.5.
Since November 2017, after 1st hair transplant I am taking finax 1 mg continuously.
Now yesterday when I got my testosterone level test done it came 309. Almost on borderline.
Do you think it is due to finax? Or this testosterone level is normal for 40 years old male?

As far as side effects which I can feel is that I reach fatigue early while in gym and I am putting weight.

Kindly advise

There are numerous reasons why your hair may drop out. Regardless of whether this is transitory, reversible, or perpetual there are alternatives you can think about that may help. The most essential advance is to visit a specialist so they can analyze the reason for your male pattern baldness.
