Everyone knows that hair loss/baldness hits everyone differently. I was only 20 years old when my hair loss started and within a year it had stopped. This began in 2010. I was young and studying to be a youth worker. The main issues I had was social withdrawal. I had lost my temples, most of my hair line only leaving a small forelock.

I used to travel to university and once lectures were over, not once I stayed behind to socialise. I would not say I was afraid of what people thought of me; I had plenty of that due to my hearing loss. I instead locked everybody out of my life including some of my close friends. I focused on my boxing (I used to box as an amateur before my gym closed down), work and life at home. I felt unattractive. All my friends used to say it does not matter. Easy to talk when you are NW1 or NW2. Without hair, my face aged...not physically but mentality. I still have boyish features despite being close to 28.

These photos show my journey to happiness and better life quality. I would say nowadays I am a different person.

The first 2 were taken at my graduation in September 2013. Please note this was the way I looked for nearly 3 and a half years.

Next two were taken at Amsed in October 2013 right after my graduation. I had already been researching hair transplants 2 years before and had booked my days with Asmed about 5 months before my graduation. I was giving myself a graduation present!

The last one was taken in July 2015.

There has been a lot of debate of why a young person should wait many years before having a hair transplant. I do agree with this but I also believe if the hair loss is severe enough/ future hair loss can be predicted then one should go ahead. I am not saying a NW1/ NW2 should restore their baby hair lines. Any ethical doctor will not allow this. In my situation, my hair loss was stable and I had already lost half my head.

Medicine with a hair transplant should always be considered.

The importance of taking finasteride is a personal choice. Many are afraid of the side-effects. This was a risk I took and I am glad of taking it. I spoke to Dr Erdogan prior my first transplant about finasteride and was amazed to hear that Dr Erdogan himself takes finasteride for many years now. And the bloke for his age looks amazing.

The benefits of finasteride have been very obvious to me. Before I would believe I had a weak donor but this might be I have never grown it! I used to have a haircut every 4 weeks.

What I have noticed is that I have less hair loss; before I used to shed far too many hairs and now not so much.

I have noticed my crown, mid-scalp, sides of the donor and the back of the donor are much darker, thicker and generally more healthily.

The images below show how fin has greatly improved my situation. First five images before my first transplant in 2013 and last five before my second transplant in 2016. At this point I had been on fin for nearly 3 years

8 week update: Not much to report really. Donor has grown back to normal, can feel a little difference in terms of thickness. That is expected after having 4892 grafts! Visually it looks normal.

I had shed all the newly transplanted hairs about 4 weeks ago. I was rocking that new hair line and temple work! Have noticed some new hairs coming from the new hair line. Not much to make an visual change. Good thing is my native hair is growing back really quick and I am able to comb over the new transplant hair line. My redness is 90% gone

Now, this short period I was loving it. This was my dream hair line and temple points. It was a shame we all have to hit the ugly duckling phrase. I can take heart, that this is HOW my second transplant should grow out as. Obviously, we cannot be fooled by the thick, new hair which sheds anyway...but it should be a small glimpse of how it will end up down the line

The situation as of today. Native and pre-transplanted hair nicely growing back. Lacking the length though. You can already see the outline of the new hair line. Donor is also increasing in thickness and length....have not cut it again since the surgery.

but with you donor supply, I'm surprised, you never had a bit more done around the temple areas?

I do not understand what you mean? You are surprised by my donor supply? Can you elevate more?

I already have decent temples and temple points. I don't see why I need to fill them in more? These images show I had temple work done... If you look at my post op pics and 4 week update pics, you can clearly see the newly transplanted temple hair. More were placed in the right temple than then the left. The 8 weeks post op pics no temple hairs as they have already shedded.

I thought I post better quality pics to show my 8 weeks update. The last set of pics were taken using the frontal camera by myself. It is damn difficult taking a decent pic so I asked my brother to take some. The camera quality is way better and natural light was flooding the room. Also been to the barbers yesterday, general clean up really. Still planning to grow out my hair.

Just over 11 weeks. Can already see some new hairs sprouting from the new hair line but still early days. It looks very promising. Been to the stylist yesterday. Just to be caution, I got grade 2 blended in with 0.5. No signs of scarring or donor depletion at all. My usual cut before my second surgery was grade 1 blended with 0.5. Will try this next time just to see if any scarring is visible. Anyway I am looking back to pre-op stage; please note this is all my old hair which has grown back. I wonder how it be in an few months time when the new grafts should have sprouted!

Hi everyone. I haven't been on the forum for a while; just enjoying life and trying to put the second transplant behind my head. Unfortunately, despite going through the same experience and knowing what lies ahead didn't stop me from panicking and getting worried.

I have been really critical regarding growth from the right side of the head. The second surgery goal was to enforce more density in the area and in the crown. From my research, crown grafts take the longest to show which I aren't really bothered about. What is worrying me is the area which lacks hair and density (as shown in the pics). I think I am getting my pants wet for no reason at all. I only hit 18 weeks this week and it is still early stages. I messaged my patient liaison who has assured me I am at early stages of growth.

Some good points: the temples are looking excellent, the left hair line is coming along nicely and the left side of head till it meets the middle part all looks like natural density.

Some pics for you guys with wet hair...I haven't styled my hair likes this since I was 17!
