  1. Hope everyone is well. Haven't been on here in ages, actually had forgotten my password. So much has been going on in my life since I was last on here. Anyway, I've had some messages from people asking me for updates. Approx 22 months I think, here are some pics today after a haircut. All the best.
  2. Hey King I'll be posting an update on the 21st which will be the 4 month mark. Seeing some growth but still a long way to go, hopefully it fills in more in the next couple of months because its still very sparse and there are some parts that are lagging. Here are some pics from 3.5 months If you have any questions feel free to PM me, more than happy to help Sorry for the hijack Yaz
  3. Ha dude, trust me I know! I'm now at 14 weeks post op and this experience has been a lot tougher than I anticipated! But honestly dude, your results so far are stellar and I reckon you're going to have the thick head of hair of teenager by the end of it!
  4. Awesome result bro, you must be over the moon. I'm stoked for you!
  5. Dude! Your hair is looking phenomenal! Congrats bro and you've got even more thickening on the way.
  6. Hi Gillenator Thanks for the reply. You were spot on! It was inflammation and slight infection. I have rather thick skin and was holding on to the dead hairs when they should be shedding. The body's response to this is inflammation. I was prescribed Doxycycline antibiotics and DermAid 1% topical cream by the local HT surgeon. This was confirmed by Dr Koray of Asmed my HT surgeon. Basically cleared up over night and is looking just as it should now. Thanks again and appreciate your response.
  7. Thanks Yaz Your journey really helped me in making my decision to go with Asmed. I began shedding quite a bit already, probably about 50% of the hairs have now. I find that some parts are quite numb and hard to touch - I see you also experienced this. Did you at any stage notice your recipient area skin texture seem different at all? Mine is a little lumpy at the moment. It swelled up really bad a few days ago but has since gone down. After sending some photos Asmed got back to me and told me this is normal.
  8. Hi Flynn Give it some time, mine has gone away. My area is starting to look a lot better, but I am having a consult with a local HT surgeon today just to get a check up and make sure everything is on track. All the best mate.
  9. Hey ersko How are you coming along at 6 months? Quick question, When you were shedding, did your skin texture seem different? I've just started the shed a bit at 18 days post op. The area is still super red and the skin texture has changed - kind of lumpy with a shine. I sent some pics to Asmed and they say this is normal. Do you have any close ups of your recipient area around the time you were shedding you can send me? Cheers mate
  10. I recently had a hair transplant - now 19 days post op. Here is my thread; http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/183575-dr-koray-erdogan-asmed-clinic-istanbul-3206-grafts-may-20th-2016-a.html As I start to shed, the skin in the recipient area over the past few days has begun to change- it is starting to become raised and cobbled. The skin itself looks and feels the same way scars do - rubbery. The area has become tighter and a little more numb in places that I was regaining sensation. I have sent photos to Asmed who was quick to dismiss any issues and said this was normal. I know that the skin can sometimes get pimples post op but this to me looks different and I worry that maybe there is scar tissue build up under the skin? I have been taking MSM and Biotin to help increase my collagen but I read that an increase in collagen can increase scar tissue after surgeries. Should I be worried or is this normal and I am over reacting?
  11. Hi Clemens Like I said I was pretty out of it during surgery so was not too aware of the time. Looking back at it now I think the surgery was about 9 hours in total - I have been able to work this out by looking at texts I sent to my fiance during surgery; Approximately 8:30 am began surgery may have been a little earlier 10:30 am I told my partner there were still 900 grafts yet to be extracted 3pm Told my partner they were still implanting the grafts 5:30pm by this point I had finished surgery and taken a photo of my transplant I believe there was only one technician doing the extractions. Other patients that had the same amount of grafts had their surgery split over 2 days, not sure why mine was only one day.
  12. Hi MVP I recently had a HT at Asmed - mine is the middle link provided by Vpac. Judging by your pictures and the line Dr Koray has drawn, it looks like he intends to work into the existing hair (not just around it) and rebuild the hairline and temples. I can see that the area he intends to rebuild is 80cm2. With 3500 grafts and an area of 80cm2, you're looking at a density with an average of about 43 grafts per cm2 (higher when you consider existing hair- probably around 50-55 grafts / cm2). As your hair looks fairly dense behind the temple area, I really wouldn't suggest going any less dense than what Dr Koray has suggested as you want to match as much as possible the density of your native hair. I do suggest getting a few opinions from different clinics and talking to them to find out how they derived at the number and density etc. It's a big decision so don't jump in before considering all of your options. HDC in Cyprus is also a great clinic - They suggested 2500 grafts for me but the area was smaller than Asmed suggestion, so it was probably the same amount of grafts if you work it out per cm2. Hope this helps and feel free to hit me up if you have any questions.
  13. So I am now 14 days post op. I scabbed up pretty bad so I decided to hold off posting more pics until I had removed all my scabs. At around day 12 I started to use a bit more force removing the scabs. I found a lot of the scabs came off when pat drying my scalp with paper towel after shampooing. I used q-tip's to remove the more stubborn ones - as my scalp was still a little sensitive I didn't want to use my fingernails too much. Up until now I have been washing my head by pouring water from a cup - is it safe now to put my head under normal shower pressure? I've attached my 14 day post op pics. My transplanted hairs have grown quite a bit (they've pretty much caught up to my native hair now). I hope that in theory it means that as they continue to grow, they have survived the transplant and will grow back after the shed. I have had a bunch of transplanted hair shed already over the past 2 weeks. When talking with Dr Koray, he told me the density would be around 55FU/cm2 in the hairline and then 50FU/cm2 going back. I have checked closely and it is more like 40 FU/cm2 in the hair line and about 30-35 FU/cm2 behind - I am hoping that this is due to some of the hairs that have already shed but will grow back in the discussed density. I am particularly impressed with the detail and precision of the graft direction. He has managed to create a very natural flow and even replicated a cowlick I had before I had lost my hairline. I do remember vaguely talking to him after the surgery and he told me that he had originally planned to put the grafts facing forward but then decided to change the direction to have them facing back after closer inspection of my native hairs. I can't really remember much more of the conversation as I was high as a kite ha. I trust his judgement and there is no doubt he is a master of his craft - one of the other patients told me he was a heart surgeon before going into hair transplantation, so his attention to detail is good. The donor area can become quite painful at night, almost like sharp nerve pain - I find some ibuprofen before bed does the trick. The transplanted area is still super red, the photos don't really show just how red it is. But in person it is very noticeable. When is it safe to put Aloe Vera on the area to try and soothe the redness? Work is getting pretty busy so next pics will be when I start to shed then I will do month by month. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask away.
  14. Congrats buddy! You've picked a top clinic - I had my surgery there on the 20th of May. I too was anxious once reality kicked in but the staff at Asmed go over and above to make you feel comfortable, so rest assured you're in safe hands. All the best.
