  1. Absolutely. Minoxidil works throughout the scalp.
  2. Yes. This is a good option, in order to conserve grafts. I think, once you use the neck pillow for support, and sleep as directed by your surgeon, this shouldn't be a problem. Is this what your doctor told you? You surgeon can give you a better idea as to how to ratio the next batch of extracted grafts, in order to increase the illusion of density, together with your preferred styling option.
  3. The work looks good. My mother has the same sort of recession, though, this candidate is much more pronounced and significant.
  4. I think it would be advisable to shampoo your hair to remove whatever thin film of sebaceous oils or dead skin cells, before applying minoxidil in order to increase the penetration of minoxidil, (even by a little bit). Once the skin is hydrated minoxidil penetration can increase slightly. Please check this. I'm not sure.
  5. There is no clinical evidence that suggests that laser therapy works.
  6. Lion's destiny, Welcome to the community. Sure. You can take Minoxidil without a prescription. Just be careful to look out for negative side effects. For itchy scalp, (related to the use of minoxidil), I found the use of folligen to be very helpful. You can try it for your particular circumstance. For dandruff, just shampoo regularly, unless you have a serious medical condition with it, in which case there are prescription medications.
  7. Einstein, I'll try to answer your questions, with as much explanation as I can, from my limited knowledge, in order to avoid offending you. Price in 2000 and Rushton earlier in 1996 determined that the use of topical Finasteride was nominally effective in the inhibition of DHT. If there were any such effects, it was because of systemic resorption (absorption); (which I believe, you are trying to avoid, by using the topical preparation) So the effectiveness comes from the penetration of the drug into sub-cutaneous level and into the blood stream, i.e. systemic effectiveness. I hope this helps and I hope my verbage was not harsh.
  8. Thanks Bill , I'll try to be a bit more careful with my words, (perhaps with a bit more explanations, to avoid retaliations) I have always acknowledged that Einstein is right (even from the beginning), but I maintain that a small portion of subjects, have adverse reactions to proplyene gycol, which is what he misinterprets as being insulting, (quite unfortunate ) As a matter of fact the FDA recognizes proplyene gycol as a direct food substance. Thanks for your input, Bill.
  9. I would say about 2000 grafts. Please start on minoxidil and finasteride as soon as possible (if you are not already on it) and look for negative side effects. Please take you time to review all the information and pros/cons of hair transplant surgery. I am not a medical professional and you should consult one for a bona fide opinion. Other posters will give their opinions
  10. bereft, Welcome to this forum! Please post clearer pictures, showing the top. Thanks.
  11. For someone who takes his name after an esteemed scientist, you seem quite unaware of statistical terminology.... Do you even know what the normal distribution is, or a "bell" curve? IT is YOU, who does not need to reply to this. Don't bother...really!
  12. BTW. Nothing is wrong with it. These are just slightly different mixtures.
  13. Propylene gycol, is akin to glycerine and is hydrating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propylene_glycol
  14. Once the hair shaft sheds, and the vellus hair would begin to come up, (though some transplanted hair continues to grow); at 2 months post op, approximately 25% of hair has been growing for a month now, though you may not see them, because they are vellus.
  15. BTW: http://www.regrowhair.com/hair...-of-scar-stretching/
  16. james2009, I am so sorry to hear about the stretching of your scar. Other posters may give you better answers, but here: 1. Minimize activities that could put tension on the scar, such as abdominal exercises like crunches, etc. 2. No. (But there are experimental works being done to cause the scar to fade rapidly and completely) 3. Yes. The suggestion would be same as above. (I think so.)
  17. Looks good! You should be around 30%.
  18. Seems to good to be true.....like full restoration. Undoubtly he is abnormal (outside of the first standard deviation).
  19. Your volume of semen may be decreased, but the motility and motivity of the sperm is nominally affected.
  20. There are side effects to ALL drugs. You have to monitor yourself to see if the side effects are so negative that they outweigh the benefits of the drug. X-NAY on the Laser comb.
  21. vanitysucks, Firstly, "grafts" not "graphs". You can start to wear a baseball cap after the staples have come out. But I wouldn't advise wearing a cap for such a long period of time (perspiration etc.) Unless, of course, you work in the sun, in which case you should use a bandana, or loose fitting cap. Don't worry, most people wouldn't notice or care about your recent transplant.
  22. baldboy123, Please post some pics. As well as finasteride, you will have to get on minoxidil for the rest of your life. What level of baldness does your father have? Please consult a surgeon who can give you better advice on the long term goals, such as the placement of your hairline. At 20, I don't know if you would like to have a mature hairline? You will have to stay out of the crown.
