Julius, Minoxidil originally started out as blood pressure medication and was administered systemically. One of the side effect of the drug was increased hair growth. If there is a clinic subjecting patients to this type of treatment (with impressive results) please post the link. I don't know if Spex is using minoxidil tablets.

This has been discussed many times before. Sweating should be kept to a minimum, and if it occurs, it should be washed off. Your scalp should be kept clean.

Your hair is starting to grow out. Some persons recommend putting a warm damp cloth on pimples (if you have any). I personally recommend that you use Folligen which has copper peptides in it and can be very soothing for itches.

proxy, The cause of MPB, is the minituarization of the hair follicles due to Dihydrotestosterone attaching itself to androgen receptors on the base of the hair follicles of the scalp. In persons with a genetic predisposition to minituarization of the hair follicles, baldness occurs over time. In the mean time, if you think that you are suffering from MPB, you should pursue both Minoxidil and Finasteride in your treatment.

Yes people can dye their hair. Different surgeons give differing advice, however, I think that after 6 months, you can be safe to dye your hair. Some people have different reactions to dyes, you have to check the dye on your skin in a small test area on your forearm to determine your level of sensitivity to the chemical.

If you are suffering from MPB, you need to continue taking Finasteride and Minoxidil for the rest of your life, regardless of whether you see regrowth or not. At the least, it is retarding the MPB process. This is difficult to say. Please post some pics. Diffuse thinners are a bit different from "regular" MPB sufferers, in that their hairloss can be more significant in the donor areas (not too sure, you will have to check this) Please consult with a qualified hair transplant surgeon, and/or contact a Coalition surgeon located on this web forum. Doesn't mean much. You have to consistently take the medication for three months before you may observe shedding. How long have you been taking Finasteride. Are you sure that your hair loss in MPB? Please post some pics. Shock loss is a generic term used to describe the effluvium due to physical trauma of surgery. Do you mean if you DO have surgery, IF you may have shockloss? Hard to say. I don't use Dr. Lee's 15% formula itself, but I do use a 15% preparation from another company. Initially it regrew more hair on my hairline, compared to regular 5% minoxidil (without azelaic acid) but MPB continues in all of us and the hair gained soon fell off. I still use it to maintain the hair in the crown.

They need to go through a few cycles before they can "stablise" to a longer cycle. Keep on Finasteride.

I use both, because I have a supply of finasteride that I would like to use up. Once the finasteride is completely used up, I will only dutasteride.

I have never used Rogaine foam, but foams are pressurized liquids that are dispensed from a sealed container. I think it may be easier to apply one compound topically, then the other topically, rather than trying to open a sealed pressurized container and mix the two compounds, which may be dangerous. I personally apply minoxidil and then spironolactone or copper peptides after 20 minutes allowing for the minoxidil initially applied to migrate into the lower levels (dermis and hypodermis). This is similar to eating one dish and then another. There is no need to mix all together. The sum effect of nourishment is the same.

While surgeons do not generally consider candidates below the age of 25, because there MPB is unstable at this point in there lives and the chance of them progressing to high levels of hairloss is significant the earlier they start losing hair, I think the graft survival rate is more complicated than a simple correlation with the age of the candidate; there are other issues involved such as transplantation density, "out of body" time factors as to how long the grafts are kept in saline solution and the temperature at which they are kept, X (unknown) factors and Y (human error) factors etc. No. But your level of hairloss must be judged by a qualified hair surgeon who will you, his expert opinion.

Are these fine and pale in colour? If so, they are vellus hair. Vellus hair has a shorter life cycle compared to terminal hair, though I'm not sure that it is 2-3 days. It is normal for vellus hair to have a shorter life cycle. Vellus hair must fall out, in order for terminal hair to grow in its place.

me and hair, There is a lot of information on this forum concerning the different types of surgical procedures, and graft types. Grafts and surgery are two different terminologies. Grafts may be 1,2,3 or 4 hair follicles that are transplanted. The standard of hair grafting is called Follicular Unit Transplantation.

tw5, Welcome to the forum. A couple points. 1. Please post some pics. 2. & There's a grave inconsistency here. You're married to a beautiful woman who loves you. You DON'T need another attractive woman to be attracted to you. Basically, you've got it made. But ultimately it's up to you, because beauty is about self-perception. 3500 grafts can reconstruct your hairline and add mild density to the top 2/3, staying out of the crown.

Is the synchronized telogen shed common to all transplant recepients or is this a rare occurence? It partly makes sense, since all the transplanted hair are transplanted at the same time, yet, the transplanted hair does not ALL enter into the anagen phase at the same time, so why do we have such a thing as a "synchronized telogen shed"? Comments/Advice?

A lot of the side effects of minoxidil and finasteride are well documented, and this is the reason that many persons take these drugs without consultation with a licensed medical practitioner. The best option is to always consult a bona fide physician and see if you can get a prescription for finasteride and minoxidil, in favour of self medication.
