  1. I believe 100% inhibition is not possible, even with dutasteride.
  2. This is the reason that Dr. Richard Lee promotes the use of azelaic acid in his minoxidil preparations with the claim that it can reduce the remaining analog in the scalp.
  3. It's not fair to compare us to this elderly gentleman. Back when he was in his 20's, it probably didn't topical minoxidil and definitely didn't have finasteride; so he is not a suitable comparison. This however does not negate your argument, which I questioned already on this forum.
  4. Correct. There is certain measure of pschyological effects to all drugs, "placebo" effect being one of them.
  5. I don't see the photographs. Yes. You have to go on finasteride and minoxidil and stay on both for the rest of your life. Check to see the nearest Coalition doctor. Chances are you may have to do air travel. If you are NW3 or NW4 as you say you are (without seeing the pics), you may need about 2500 grafts on the conservative side. Check the graft calculator, but the amount of grafts that can be extracted also depends on other factors such as scalp laxity, etc. STAY AWAY FROM OBSOLETE TECHNOLOGY!! I started to lose my hair at 16 too. Not to worry. Focus on developing your career, and social life. Everything else will follow.
  6. MathU41, Welcome to the forum. Please post some pics of your hairloss. Minoxidil (trade name Rogaine/Regaine) and Finasteride (trade name Propecia) are the only two drugs capable of regrowing hair. MPB/AGA is a progressive genetic condition that cannot be solved with an instant gratifying procedure. It is a life long journey, that requires proven medication. You can opt for surgical intervention (after due deliberation/research) if you choose.
  7. What you are talking about is the greasy feel of the glycol. This is not the alcoholic vehicle that transports the minoxidil micro-crystals. This greasy feeling disappears some hours after application of minoxidil. Yes. It works everywhere.
  8. Regaine=Rogaine=Minoxidil Answers to your questions: 1. Migration of minoxidil into the tissue is sufficient after 30 minutes. You have to apply minoxidil and wash it off directly a few seconds later for it not to be effective. No. 2. Use the 1ml, twice a day as recommended. Using more will not increase hair growth. Smear it around on the bald region, or path your hair 6 ways to get at the scalp. 3. Yes.
  9. kevin, I agree with Bill. You need to consult with a qualified medical professional. The first questions they will ask you are: 1. How long since you've noticed the problem? 2. What have you done about it? 3. What drugs are you taking? If you are on finasteride, and judging by the length of time you are/have been on finasteride, they may ask you to quit and observe the changes in your body. On a side note, alot of erectile dysfunction can be psychological.
  10. You probably mean the liver. Negative side effects are in the minority of cases.
  11. Zia, I vaguely recall one of our members PLEASE GROW PLEASE *NOT* giving a good review of the NUHART Clinic. I could be wrong. Please check this out and see, before doing anything.
  12. Snake oil. Genetic engineering is the future of all medicine.
  13. 620farmer620, Welcome to this community. Perhaps it's my computer or connection, but I can't see your picture very well. Would you check this please? Taking medication and watching for negative side effects is a good idea.
  14. Do you know what is a dic..dic...dic...dictionary? Did I stutter? MINIATURIZE, you can replace the "z" with an "s" for an alternate American spelling. Good question. Over time the terminal scalp hair follicles undergo progressively shorter and shorter cycles involving reduced anagen growth periods. Although periods of anagen are reduced, catagen and telogen time periods remain the same. The anagen phase varies from person to person, so, a terminal hair can thin out in a year, or two, if not 6 months. P.S. I think you mean 3000mg of MSM and not SMS.
  15. nyny12, Welcome to this community First things first, please post some pics of your situation. Secondly PRP, is new technology and there is not a whole lot of data concerning its success. LLLT, I think is laser therapy (I'm not sure, so someone correct me) and as such is not highly favored and might be scorned by some. Try the finasteride and see what happens. Side effects do go away, unless there are so HUGELY traumatic that people stop taking it.
  16. That's right hdude46, we need some more input and comments on this topic?
  17. Are you talking about from the drug alone, or a combination of the drug following a HT surgery? Have you had HT surgery, recently? For the drugs itself: Not on the first day after, if that's what you mean. Give it a couple of weeks.
  18. Timmy, You're fine. Stay on meds. You can do research about HT surgery and re-visit the idea in a few years time.
  19. Wow! An old post. I wonder how many people here are still around.
