  1. He had it done by Greco. I think he had some serious thinning but not sure. He definitely had hair loss as he has been one of the most contributing members of that forum. So it was not some guy with really no loss. I don't want to post links to another forum but if you want to contact him it shouldn't be that hard to find him with some google searching on prp updates.
  2. London, United Kingdom, August 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A unique Titanium microneedle roller called the Scalprollertm was unveiled by the British biotech Nanogen at a recent conference in Amsterdam. Over 400 of the world's leading hair loss surgeons and trichologists visited the recent July ISHRS annual meeting where the Scalproller was first exhibited. Nanogen's Scalproller has 4 clinical applications to enhance existing hair loss treatments. When using the Scalproller, penetration of Minoxidil - a prescription hair loss treatment, is increased by over 5 times on treated skin compared to untreated skin. Additionally, Scalproller therapy fades and removes donor scars from hair transplant surgery. Cutting edge hair loss treatment Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) also requires Scalproller treatment to activate the growth factors. Furthermore, the latest research on behalf of Intercytex by Dr Bessam Farjo, and pioneering studies by Dr George Cotsarelis provide evidence that Scalproller therapy may produce new hair growth independently of any other treatment. Dr. Farjo, immediate past president of the ISHRS and also an attendee of the conference, was impressed with this innovation, "Nanogen's Scalproller device is interesting in that it uses concepts of recent leading-edge hair loss research. Certainly, as demonstrated by the recent Intercytex cell therapy trials and previous work on the animal model by Cotsarelis et al., there is good research data to show stimulation of hair growth in response to skin stimulation or injury. Studies have also shown that needle holes of 0.5mm depth or more penetrate the skin sufficiently to increase the diffusion of compounds of similar molecular weight and charge to Minoxidil." The Scalproller is unique in that it is the only microneedle therapy roller specifically designed for hair loss treatment. According to Nanogen Medical Director Elliot Isaacs, "The previous technology for dermatological purposes was insufficient to meet the durability and accuracy requirements of a professional medical device. Harder titanium needles and precise European engineering techniques were necessary to produce a roller that will stay sharp for over 4 months, and perforate the skin to the exact depth every time." The Scalproller, already the subject of several international patents pending, was enthusiastically received by the hair loss and surgical community. Both the home use versions and the longer 1 & 2mm clinical models are already in use in a range of professional practices, and several applications have been made to Nanogen to conduct new research utilising the Scalproller. does this make prp treatments even more credible since they use essentially the same thing as Scalproller along with our own growth factors? Was thinking of doing prp next week and this makes me want to do it even more. Am I right in thinking this way?
  3. A member from another forum just gave his 6 month update of prp. He says "general thickening of hair. not very much - but its alot better than thinning ! no new hair growth (none was expected/promised). the main benefit is that it appears to have stopped the loss for the time being, which is a major result for me. would have it again if i didn't have to travel thousands of miles. PS - This would be great if combined with scalp Botox, the only other treatment thats really helped me in recent years. I think they would be a great combo. " Any thoughts
  4. Hey Spex, I was doing some research and it looks like Dr. Greco is a part owner of Orogen (the company that makes all of the equipment for prp that I believe Feller uses). Is this true? I am not sure what to make of this, just wanted to now if you Greco is in fact part owner of the company.
  5. Hdude thanks for the reply but I think you can never ask too many questions when it has to do with something that is experimental and also includes injections into the scalp. Sorry if my questions annoy you but thanks for the reply. As far as the patient goes, Feller posted two sufferer patients pics and I thought it was the other patient that was not on any meds and that he did not mention whether or not this patient was on meds. Spex can you clear this up??
  6. Spex, thanks for the pics. A couple questions. Was this patient on any meds? If so how long has he been on them? Also I thought Feller had a full head of hair. Why is he not a candidate?? Also does Feller think prp will work on the frontal scalp. Not necessarily the hair line but right behind it??
  7. Spex, so does that mean his patients have experienced less shedding and hair loss as a result of prp? Also can he post the pics of that patient you mentioned last week? Lastly, spex do you mind posting a pic of your hair since you are not a candidate, therefore we can see what type of people are not candidates?
  8. Thanks for the reply Bill. For the first month I used it like 4 times a week and it was great. The it started to hurt my scalp and really flake my hair so I only use it once a week the past month but even when I do it now once a week, I still get the burns for hours after along with the flakes ( don't know if it causes more shedding. It does make my hair really dry and brittle but also seems to thicken it up if thats possible. Also I use Nioxin on the days I do not use nizoral. Is that wise or is Nioxin too harsh to use in conjunction with Nizoral? I think I just might eliminate it but Nizoral is the only thing I am using right now for hair loss because I haven't decided on prp and I heard propecia doesnt really help in the front which is where my loss ( and scalp burning and itch) occurs.
  9. I started using nizoral a couple months back and at first it was good but in the past month or so it has been causing the front of my hair to really flake up and it also causes a huge itch/burning sensation on my scalp. What does this mean and can this contribute to more loss???
  10. Hey guys, I think I am actually going to go with propecia instead of prp just because it has more data behind it. A couple questions first 1) Should I have any blood work done or get anything checked beforehand (thyroid problems, hormonal imbalances etc..)?? I have not had insurance for a while ( I am 22) and I have not had any physicals or blood work done in over 8 years. 2) Also my hair is thinning just in the frontal corners and a little bit in the front middle I think ( I may just be paranoid, I dont know because I am overreacting to this so it the loss in the middle may just be in my head). Anyways should I even try propecia right now or see where my loss goes from here and then get on it since I am so young. I heard propecia stops working after 5 years so I dont know if I want to waste it now, or maybe a better option will be available in 5 years. What do you guys think
  11. Thanks. Also does it help or hurt or do nothing to your hair line because that is where I am thinning. My crown is extremely full and you cannot even see any scalp even if it is extremely wet, just the hairline is thinning.
  12. Thanks Tom. Did you see any sexual sides and were they unbearable? I will probably only take .5 mg a day or 1 mg 3 days a week.
  13. I remember reading something about propecia and infertility. Has anyone here come across this problem or know if there is any link?? Just trying to get as much knowledge as possible before I decide whether or not to start taking it. Also, I read ( I think on this forum) that propecia can actually hurt your hairline. Is this true? My only thinning is at the hairline so I want to make sure this is not the case. Thanks
  14. Went to see 2 docs down here and neither performed a scalp mapping. I would really like to find a doc that does this so I can find out where my loss is heading/not heading. Anyone do this in South Florida?
