  1. This has to do with the control boundaries that were set up during the initial pharmaceutical research. The pharmacological effect is potent throughout ALL areas of the scalp.
  2. Could a bit. The levels of collagen beneath the occipital ridge is different (lower I believe) and the tension of the closure is also different if donor follicles are harvested from here. I can't tell you if the tension is greater or not when compared to excision from on the occipital bump, for two scalps of the same given laxity.
  3. WOW!!!! What could've cause such excessive swelling? Didn't he follow the instructions about sleeping and keeping your chin up? I wish I could see the pictures of disfigured he was.
  4. Properly done, there should not be sufficient tension generated in the closure following excision of donor tissue to detrimentally constrict blood/oxygen supply to the hair follicles in the region around the donor zone.
  5. Jessica, It is important to emphasize to potential patients the side effects of drugs, particularly powerful systemic ones such as dutasteride. Someone cannot simply interchange "finasteride/dutasteride" just like that. The patient must run the prescribed course of the lesser one (in this case finasteride) carefully noting the side effects and measuring the benefits, before venturing to more potent chemicals.
  6. Each drug has an associated side effect together with its desired effect. You NEED to start with Finasteride first, and see what side-effects you encounter before moving to a more powerful drug.
  7. Let me be the first to write on the thread and congratulate you!
  8. Any plans of updating your avatar?? Did you have HT surgery before and if so, how do people react to seeing your scar now,(if you do shave down to the skin??)
  9. Because less dihydrotestosterone is being formed, this means that there is a "surplus" of testosterone in your blood serum. Hormonal levels should return to baseline, though the length of time this takes varies from person to person.
  10. BOY!! Do I strongly disagree with this!! Perhaps women don't respect you, because you don't respect yourself. Alot of women (if not most) WILL find you attractive (even with some level of hairloss) Beauty has ALOT to do with your own self perception.(I HAD to realise this also.) You think women find you unattractive, because you perceive yourself as being unattractive. You have to develop your life (A SOCIAL STANDING aka a profession like a physician, lawyer, etc., along side a sense of humour and INDEPENDENCE:not being "clingy" to her; she must be subtly aware, that you can live without her) and a woman's sense of attraction to you will develop. Beware all of this is a two sided coin. It is incumbent on you to appreciate a woman's full beauty also, and not just focus on your perception of her deficiency.
  11. Gary, Welcome to the community! Most likely your hairloss is from MPB, but you can still check with a densitometer to be sure. If you've taken a break from Finasteride, you need to restart it. Also you should have started Minoxidil at the same time as the finasteride, but that is all in the past now. Continue with the minoxidil. Alternately, if you have not had severe side effects with these two medications, you can try the more potent versions such as dutasteride and 15% minoxidil. Folligen/Copper pepitides are not as potent as minoxidil or finasteride for hair regrowth. They are more for the healing process due to inflammation. Nizoral is good. I tried it when I was a kid and I thought my hairloss was just from an infection. Please post some pics. According to how strongly you feel about it, you may want to explore the option of hair surgical restoration.
  12. Malodorous scents in almost all cases indicate some sort of putrification process. Please check with your physician and/or contact your hair transplant surgeon to get more details.
  13. Yes. Try to get them off gently. Not too sure, but I think this might be extra-ordinary (having scabs at this time). Other members will have to comment.
  14. If you go to http://www.unitedpharmacies.com/ you will see that the page to enter your credit card information is "https" and they only ship to a few countries United States and United Kingdom included. P.S. I am not an agent for that enterprise.
  15. I would like to find out which size follicles shed first? Do the single hair follicles go first, the 2 hair, or the 3 hair follicles? Also is there a correlation between the size of the transplanted hair follicles and the time at which they are shed? The time period for transplanted grafts to shed is between 2-6 weeks. Is it possible to shed grafts earlier, like 1 1/2 weeks or later 7 weeks? Thanks.
  16. Welcome to the community hairlust No there is no particular dietary restriction in the days following the surgery. What is important is the follow the instructions prior to the surgery concerning the consumption of minoxidil, alcohol, MSM, etc. Each surgeon has their own technique of cleansing the newly implanted grafts. I was instructed to develop some foam with the baby shampoo in my palms and gently tap the new grafts for the first few days until they were secure after the 7th or 8th day, after which you could wash with a little more vigor. Spex has a good write up about all the things that take place in the timeline leading up to and following the surgery. I invite you to look at it.
  17. The patient in Spex's post has his hair styled forward. http://hair-restoration-info.c...391008253#7391008253
  18. The hormonal imbalance is what causes the retention of fluid or adjustment of the muscle to fat ratio.
  19. You should speak to the doctor (inform him of your use of finasteride) and find out if the increase in weight is actually due to retention of fluid or increase in muscular mass or increase in fat. This is the diagnosis, before we can move further.
  20. Don't know what you mean exactly by that, but I CAUTION YOU about self-medication concerning Your body is just one big wet cell battery and if you start some drug like Lasix to rid your body of excess fluid; you could upset the electrolytic balance.
  21. One of the side effects of Finasteride is fluid retention. How long has it been since you started finasteride? Side effects should subside in time (not sure about the time frame, varies from person to person, check online for this.)
  22. Your hair is very beautiful. You're fine.
  23. Not necessarily so. Clinics in Third World countries have lower operating costs and not necessarily lower quality.
