  1. Hi everyone, Ive been active on this forum for about year now. I am very educated and informed with regards to getting a ht at my age and I have met with several ht docs (coalition docs as well). So basically I have done what I needed to do....I have been on propecia for about a year now and rogaine with no improvement. I am continuing to lose hair and I am starting to get really thin on all around top of my head. I am a deffinite nw 4 but my sides seem to be pretty strong and thick. I dont know what else to do and it really sucks. I am in college and I am supposed to be having the time of my life at my age but my hairloss is serously hurting my self confidence. I always go out with a hat on. I would look terrible with a shaved head so I cant go down that road. Do you guys have any other advice or opinions on what I should do? Its obvious I am going to be a nw 6-7 just like my father and grandfather.
  2. Thank you everyone for all your input I really appreciate your knowledge and opinions on my situation...So after weighing the benefits and possible consequences of getting a ht, I decided to have a consultation with a very highly respected doc (Dr.Cooley). I told him Ive been on propecia for nine months and i just started rogaine a month ago. It seems like hair loss is minimal right now (maybe it has almost stabalized). His opinion (rather the consultant relaying what Dr.Cooley thought) was that I could either hold off or receive a ht of 3000-3500 grafts to fill in the frontal region fading into the front outer edges of the crown but not actually touching the crown of course. He would make a hairline from where it is now (fill in the receding area)and not drop it any lower. I think I am going to go through with a procedure in the coming months. by the way... i had a phone consultation and the pics he had of me were the ones i posted on this forum as well as a couple more photos of the sides and back of my head.
  3. Thanks everyone for you advice and input. I greatly appreciate it. You all are really helping me get closer to finding a solution to my unlucky situation. I know the best thing to do would be to wait but its just extremely hard if your in my shoes. It sucks. I feel like I am the only one this bald in college. Its just destroying my confidence and I think Ronald has really hit the nail on the head with regards to my feelings and thoughts on what to do. Why not get a conservative hairline ht at a time when (and I think most of you can agree) physical appearance matters most? And if i were to choose strip, wouldn't i be able to fue in the scar if i decide to shave down?
  4. Also, as you all can see my balding is pretty bad right now...why wait any longer to get a ht? Its obvious where I'm headed
  5. Yes, Would getting FUE done for my hairline and thinning frontal region, so i could shave down, be a prudent decision ?
  6. Also, I figured that where I'm headed even if i were to wait to get a ht, I most likely won't have enough donor hair to cover my entire head and i am fine with that. I figured that if that were to happen i'd just shaved down and fue in my ht scar.
  7. Hi everyone, I've posted several times on this forum explaining my situation but have never provided pics until now. Basically, Im 20 years old and have been on propecia for 8 months now. I havent seen much improvement nor excessive hairloss since ive been on it. I have been contemplating on whether to get a ht of 1500 grafts for my hairline (that what the doc suggests i do). But I see where my hairloss is going....i will be completely bald with the usual horseshoe pattern just like my dad and grandfather. My ideal ht plan would be to get the fullest look i can get now as being bald at this age is a very hard thing to live with. Here are pics of my current situation. Any thoughts, advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S. My Hair is damp in all of these pics
  8. I was wondering what kind of minoxidil product should i use? I would like to slowly transition from using propecia combined with minoxidil to just solely minoxidil in the future long term
  9. Hi everybody, I am 20 years old and been on propecia for 7-8 months already. I can see it has slowed down my hair loss and hopefully I will see it stop it altogether soon. I would consider myself a norwood 3 on the way to a 4 if my hair loss doesn't stop. I would mainly like to restore my hairline. It seems like the thinning on the crown is slowing because of the propecia. Both sides of my family have hair loss history as well as my father being completely bald. I have been contemplating on getting a ht for months now. I have weighed the risks and benefits and have researched and learned just about all there is to know about getting a ht at my age. I can't see myself going through my 20s without a healthy head of hair and the confidence I should be living with each day. The only thing I am worried about is if I do get a ht now that would mean I would have to use propecia for a long time/the rest of my life. Im just not too thrilled about using any medication for the long term. I havnt expereienced any neg side effects so far but who knows what it will do in a couple years time. I would appreciate your input or advice. thanks

  11. thank you all for your suggestions and comments. I truly appreciate it. I have been researching and educating myself on treatments and the consequences or benefits of getting a ht at my age. Being on propecia for alittle over 6 months now, I havnet seen much improvement nor much hair loss. All I really desire right now is to fix my hairline as it will give me more of the youthful face I should have at 20. I am almost confident that I will need more procedures in the future. With the help of propecia and future hair loss advancements, I am hoping this will delay or negate the need for my future ht(s). This is probably the most important time in ones life to look "your best." In college, in the dating scene, and soon to graduate and find a job, I have found that my hair loss is really hurting my confidence. So I think I am going to be taking the step for a ht on my hairline within the coming months. I would appreciate anyone's comments or opinion. thanks again
  12. Hi everyone, Im 20 years old and suffering tremendously from MPB. I have been losing hair since I was 17-18. Now I really cant take it anymore. I'm balding in the the crown and my hairline is receding pretty bad. It's pretty obvious I will end up like my dad who is completely bald. I have been on propecia 6-7 months now. I believe it has slowed down my hairloss alittle but hasn't really thickened my hair. Hopefully itll start working alittle better in the coming months. Anyways, I have been to a very good HT doc (on the coalition) and he recommended that if i really wanted a ht to take propecia for a year and see if it will benefit me. If its successful, he'd agree to the ht. All i would like to do is fix my hairline. I really would like to look my age again and I think lowering my hairline will give this effect. On the propecia, I am hoping itll thicken up my crown a bit more as well. What are your thoughts? Do you think I should go through with a HT? I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks.
  13. Thank you everyone for your input. you all are really helping me alot in my decision making. As of now at 20 years old in college supposed to be living the life I think a ht is the only way to go to really be happy and confident. I am keeping my future in mind and I do accept I will be needing more ht as I am almost positive I will be just as bald as my father and grandfather by the direction I am going right now. I mean no one ever wants to go bald so what the hell why not get the conservative ht now for the hairline taking into account I will be needing more in the future. If by some distant chance I don't lose all of my hair I can always go back and thicken up the recipient areas. Also, sure its always better to wait to get ht to better assess my hairloss and distribution of donor hair but now is the time I really need it and I don't see much harm if I go through this procedure conservatively. I have found a top doc from the coalition and I'm confident he will do a good job from the rep he has on this forum. So, I think I'm going to take that one last step and go through with the ht... I'd really appreciate any thoughts or comments. Thanks
  14. what is your opinion if I plan for the worst...meaning I get a very conservative ht (for my hairline) now planning that I will be completely bald in the future such as my father (which I can clearly see with my current state). Sure, I probably will be chasing the receding hairline behind my new hairline but I really can't wait 5-10 years for a ht. I am 20 and i look like I am 35. Extremely difficult to bear right now. And even by some chance, in 10-20 years if i dont become as bald as my father, then I could always go back thicken up the transplanted areas if i wanted to. Sure I will have many scars in the back of my head from multiple ht but I will always want hair so the scars will always be concealed. And also if i were to wait 5-10 years to get a ht, I would probably be needing mega ht that would probably leave me with multiple scars on the back of my head anyway. Any thoughts on this? I greatly appreciate it. Thanks
  15. that is exactly what im feeling, in college, wanting to have a good time. But, my hair controls everything I do. And to get ht for my hairline would boost up my confidence so much. As for the shaved head option, I, too, dont have the head shape for that look and it just wouldn't look any better without any hair at all.
