  1. Goodwally saying a Portuguese guy is Spanish is like saying a British guy is French (makes no sense). I’m pretty sure Dr. Bruno is proudly Portuguese like me so maybe don’t tell him you want to keep thinking he’s Spanish (if you ever talk to him). Dr Bruno Ferreira and Dr Bruno Pinto are the best in Portugal. Dr. Bruno Pinto has dozens of results on the Spanish forum recuperartupelo.com and Bruno Ferreira will surely be having results here soon as he is trending now and for good reason.
  2. Watterot, actually I did have 80 grafts implated into my front right temple because I had a small gap (you can notice them in my after pictures taken at the clinic). Dr. Kaan had to use the least amount of grafts possible to the front because I had 140cm2 to cover and my head donor area was limited to just 2000 grafts. It was my beard that saved the day
  3. So I’m 2 days post-op and I`m actually surprised that after having had 1888 grafts removed from my beard it managed to recover so quickly. My head donor and recipient area still have a long way to go but it`s also looking a bit better. Kinda worried because I go back to work on the 8th of January...
  4. Dr. Rahal did my first HT in 2008 and he also had one or two bad result at the time but for the past 12 years none of Rahal`s patient`s with bad results came to my Rahal`s results thread striking fear and turning my results thread on to themselves...
  5. Goodwally, sorry but Bruno Ferreira is Portuguese born and raised, different country and different language. He does however, work in Madrid with Jose Lorenzo.
  6. Hello Everyone, Background: In 2008 when I was 25 years old, I had my first hair transplant with Dr. Rahal in which I had 3425 grafts implated to rebuid the front hairline by FUT but since then I haven`t taken any finasteride (due to side effects) so I lost all the hair in my midscalp and crown. I knew my donor area was limited to around 2000 grafts so I realized that in order to achieve a decent level of density I would have to compensate with beard grafts. Research: I started looking for an affordable Doctor that was performing the entire surgery himself and achieving great results with high amounts of beard grafts, so that ruled out Dr. Rahal. After months of research I found out that there was only one Doctor in the world that matched my requirements and was charging less than 2,5€ per beard graft, Dr. Kaan Pekiner. Dr. Kaan does all manual FUE with stick & place technique which is more time consuming than motorized FUE but he says it allows him to have a better feel while extracting and better control of the angle of each graft while implanting. So, I spoke with his patient advisor, Alex by whatsapp and booked my 3 day surgery from the 26 to the 28th of December (yes they work on weekends). New Luxury Clinic Opened 23/12/2019 Now how lucky was I to have found out that just last week Dr. Kaan Pekiner moved his practice to a brand new luxury clinic and I would be one of the first patients to have a surgery here. I recorded a walkthrough video to show you guys the new clinic and had Alex (Patient Advisor) upload it so my name doesn`t show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhAnFb5XfNY Because Dr. Kaan Pekiner only does surgery on 1 patient per day I had a private clinic just for myself that also included my own cook to provide meals during the day 😊 Hotel Atakosk Hotel is a 5 Star Hotel just across the street from the clinic. The Clinic has a special price of 45€/night with Breakfast and the room service dinner cost me between 6€ to 9€, super cheap! The roundtrip airport transfer are organized by the clinic and included in the price of the surgery so I brought 0 Turkish Liras with me. On checkout I paid the Hotel and all the room service meals with my Revolut card so I wouldn’t pay any credit card taxes. Surgery: My first day started at 08.30h with a photoshoot followed by mapping out the implating area and then a discussion about the surgery with Dr. Kaan. Dr. Kaan calculated I had a area of 140cm2 of mildscalp and crown to fill in but he would only manage to extract around 2000 grafts from the head and was unsure about the number of beard grafts he would be able to extract (maybe 1000-1500) so he gave me a tuff choice: 1. Achieve a nice density of around 30-40cm2 by implanting only to the mildscalp and upper crown leaving my lower crown empty for the rest of my life. 2. Implanting the whole 140cm2 open area and risking getting less than 20cm2 density if the beard donor fails to provide a high number of grafts. I went with option 2 and I am so happy I did so 😊 Here is my surgery timetable · 08.30h Graft Extraction · 10.30h 15m Break · 10.45h Graft Implatation · 12.45h 1 hour Lunch · 13.45h Graft Extraction · 15.30h 15m Break · 15.45h Graft Implatation · 17.45h: End of Day As predicted by Dr. Kaan he did only managed to extract 2000 head grafts because he only wanted to use thick graft and I could actually feel him searching my head for the best grafts to extract. “thin grafts would make no point in the crown” he said. I could also feel him arranging the angle of each graft in my crown while he was rebuilding my crown vertex, that attention to detail was like nothing I have ever seen and I thanked him repeatedly for it! On day 2 Dr. Kaan also took a sample of 109 grafts from my beard at the end of the day to test my beard donor area and he realized that my beard was actually much better than he expected. On the 3rd day the whole team spent 10 hours around my beard to extract a whopping 1888 beard grafts thus provinding me with almost 30cm2 density all around. I couldn`t believe it when Dr. Kaan told me the graft count, we were both so happy that I was getting a better than expected density (even though it’s not a lot and I am hoping I will be happy with the results). Also, I had 80 grafts (singles and doubles) implanted into to my right temple because after shaving it was easy to see I had a small gap in the front. Post-Op Today I met with Dr. Kaan to remove my bandages (yes he came to see me in person on a Sunday morning, amazing!). It`s also really great he speaks fluent English because if he didn`t it would have been a deal breaker for me. So my surgery finished yesterday and so far I have had absolutely no swelling whatsoever. Dr. Kaan used a 0.9mm punch for my scalp donor area and a 0.6mm punch for my beard donor area. A shout out to Dr. Kaan`s amazing team: Fatmanur, Irem, Volkan and Saide, they were by my side the whole day assisting Dr. Kaan and making sure everything went smoothly. Conclusion After having had FUT with Dr. Rahal in 2008 and now FUE + BHT with Dr. Kaan Pekiner, in my humble opinion Dr. Kaan is truly one of the best in the world as I found no other Doctor at his price point offering his total devotion to just one patient per day in order to reach the best possible outcome using both the donor area from the scalp and beard. Please check my pictures and let me know what you think. Request to the forum Administration: Dear Hair Restoration Network Administrators @Melvin-Moderator you guys would be doing a huge service to other patients like myself by including Dr. Kaan in your current list of just 2 reccomend Turkish Doctors (neither of which matched any of my requirements). I promise that if you come meet Dr. Kaan to see this new clinic, staff and technique you will confirm that he has truly raised the bar on the “Gold Standard Hair Transplant”. Thank you
  7. I was thinking of bringing my wife with me but thank god I didn’t as this is not Istambul, freezing cold and nothing of great interest to see or do. I came alone and stronghly advise you to do the same as you need to rest for the surgery and recover in bed afterwards instead of having to worry about your friend’s utter boredom.
  8. Ksmithy most of the price quotes here are wrong but one advice is right, save more money and go to a quality doctor not a a hair mill clinic or you will end up having to pay a quality Doctor to repair your messed up surgery. I also looked for the best Doctor with the best price but I wanted a Doctor that did the whole procedure himself (most clinics have low paid techs do most of the work). 1. Dr. Kaan Pekiner 2.15€/graft (The best HT doctor in Turkey and one of the best Doctors in the world for beard FUE) 2. Dr. Bruno Ferreira 2.5€/graft (He has his own clinic in Porto and is the medical assistant of Jose Lorenzo one of the best FUE Docs in the world) 3. Dr. Ximena Villa 2.5€/graft (was the previous Medical assistant of Jose Lorenzo and now is fully devoted to her Madrid clinic) No other world class Doctor will provide you with a surgery fully performed by the Doctor at these prices. I am now in Ankara with Dr Pekiner having 2000 FUE from the head plus 1500 from the beard. My 5 star Hotel across the street costs 45€/night and room service dinner cost 7€. Wish you the best of luck and strongly urge you to save up and go with one these 3 Doctors.
  9. Dear Roland, I live in Portugal and I was also deciding between Dr. Bruno and Dr. Pekiner so congratulations on you choice because Dr. Bruno (Best patient evaluation I’ve ever received and he always replied fast and directly not through a patient advisor) is a rising star and the prices at his clinic in Porto are still affordable (even though 15% more expensive than Pekiner). I chose Dr. Pekiner because right now I’m in Ankara doing 2000 head grafts plus 1500 beard grafts and Dr. Pekiner has a lot of great results posted in the Italian forum from patients with 1000+ BHT sessions. If I was not doing 1500 BHT grafts I would have avoided the flight to Ankara and chosen Dr. Bruno. Reccomendations: 1. don’t take any clothes without bottons because you can’t dress anything over your head. 2. Take a vanity mirror to apply spray and cream 3. Ask for a black surgical cap so you can feel more comfortable walking around in public Wish you all the best and please post your results because Dr. Bruno Ferreira still has no patient results posted in any forum and he is truly one of the great ones to look out for.
  10. If you want a quick reply you will have to contact his patient advisor Alex by whatsapp +39 392 990 5178 He usually replies in a few hours and I can confirm that they are swamped with emails so don’t expect a reply by email anytime soon.
  11. Namsak, HLC is a clinic not a Doctor so you don’t know which doctor will be doing your surgery, it’s also impossible to compare results from HLC with a Doctor because not all HLC results state the name of the doctor that did the surgery. . Dr. Pekiner worked at HLC for several years so you might find that some amazing results from this clinic are actually from Dr. Pekiner. I rather select a doctor with patients results than a clinic. My friend Ricardo had surgery with Dr. Pekiner last week and told me he is better than Dr Rahal (his first surgery). I also had my first surgery with Dr Rahal and will have my second surgery with Dr Pekiner this month on the 26th in which I will be doing 4500 grafts to the crown and midscalp. I already had a great felling about Dr. Pekiner and my friend took my advice and booked a date prior to mine, after what my friend told me I am now certain that Dr. Pekiner is a rising star and I am happy I can still afford having my HT done by this doctor.
  12. Ron there are tons of patient results for HLC at the italian forum BelliCapelli. HLC has Dr. Ozgur and Dr. Akin that are top level doctors but it`s not certain they will do the surgery because they have other doctors.
  13. Ron I am talking with Dr. Pekiner assistant, Alex to book my second HT. I chose Dr. Pekiner because he only has 1 patient per day, does the whole surgery with techs just to provide support and has amazing results posted by patients on the italian forum. Couldn’t find any other doctor with this price level and results. Also, I have limited donor area and Dr. Pekiner said he can take 2000 grafts from my beard plus 3000 grafts from my scalp. Pekiner started out in this field working with Keser and then for HLC during 7 years. He opened his own clinic in 2017 because people were going to HLC because of him. He is building a name for himself very quickly and already told me he will increase the prices in 2020. if I were you I would go with Pekiner or Keser.
  14. Melvin in Turkey they are relying in cheap labour from 20 somethings and Syrian refugees to charge those ridiculous all inclusive prices so I could never advise someone to chose a tech based clinic in Turkey. In Portugal it`s pretty much the same, my best friend did his HT in a well known Portuguese clinic because of the Doctor that runs it and he ended being operated by a Senegalese tech (results are average and I am pretty sure the Doctor would have done better).
  15. Dear CI29200 I am going to book my second HT and for me it’s all about having a world class Doctor doing the whole procedure and his technique. Also looked into Dr. Acar that started out by doing the whole surgery himself and criticising the many Turkish Hairmills where the technicians do all or most of the work but today Dr. Acar is also a tech based surgery. He just opens the holes/channels all at once and then the techs insert the grafts, Erdogan is doing the same and his latest results are not good. Doctors that do the entire surgey themselves can only have 1 patient per day. If you go to Erdogan or Acar or Cinik you will find maybe 10 patients having the surgery on the same day. The best results are due to the quality of the Doctor performing your surgery but it can help if he is using a higher quality technique such as Stick and Place or Direct Hair Implantation. Stick and Place: Doctor opens the hole/Channel and immediately inserts the hair. Direct Hair Transplantion uses implantors (Lion implantor being the best implantor available) and with implantors the nurses will place each removed hair into the implantor and then the Doctor will perform two steps at the same time: 1. open the hole/channel 2. Insert the hair into the scalp. Both Stick and Place and DHT will provide great results because a world class Doctor can achieve great results with any technique. I am going to do my second HT and I rulled out all Doctors that have technicians do the surgery but I also need a world class Doctor that is affordable because I will need around 5000 grafts. My search lead me to Kaan Pekiner: 2.15€/graft for Stick&Place with all manual FUE and does BHT from the beard to add density for 2.4€/graft. Dr. Pekiner worked with Keser (one of the best FUE Doctors in the world but charges 3,5€/graft) and afterwards Pekiner worked at HLC Ankara for 7 years. Check his results in this forum and the italian forum https://bellicapelli.forumfree.it/m/?f=64816590 Dr. Demirsoy also does the whole procedure himself and just has 1 patient per day. He charges the low price of 1.25€/graft but if you check patients results online you will find that several are complaining due to poor results so I rulled him out. Couldn’t find any other Doctor with this level of technique and results at a lower price level. Let me know if you find other Doctors with posted results that are doing the whole procedure themselves with either stick and place or DHT with Lion implanter, at this price point.
  16. Dear David, I am going to book my second HT and for me it’s all about having a world class Doctor doing the whole procedure and his technique. Insert the hair into the scalp. Doctors that use technicians will only open all the holes/channels were your hairs will be inserted and then the technicians will insert all the hairs. Both techniques provide great results because a world class Doctor can achieve great results with either technique. I am going to do my second HT and I rulled out all Doctors using technicians but I also need a world class Doctor that is affordable because I need at leat 5000 grafts (and from looking at your pictures I would expect you will also need between 4000 to 5000 grafts). My search lead me to Kaan Pekiner: 2.15€/graft for Stick&Place with all manual FUE and does BHT from the beard to add density for 2.4€/graft. Dr. Pekiner worked with Keser who is one of the best FUE Doctors in the world but charges 3,5€/graft and afterwards Pekiner worked at HLC Ankara for 7 years. Couldn’t find any other Doctor with this level of technique and results at this price level. 18. Kinda copy pasting from another post but we are discussing the same here. I am going to book my second HT and for me it’s all about having a world class Doctor doing the whole procedure with a steller technique and the best price. Searched Doctors that do the entire surgery themselves with either stick & place or DHT that have a steady flow of patient posts showing great results and charge a price I can afford as I need 4-5k grafts. My search lead me to Kaan Pekiner: 2.15€/graft for Stick&Place with all manual FUE and does BHT from the beard to add density for 2.4€/graft. Check his results in this forum and the italian forum https://bellicapelli.forumfree.it/m/?f=64816590 Couldn’t find any other Doctor with this level of technique/results at this price level. 19. I went to Rahal in 2008 at a time when FUT was the way to go the get a high quality HT and Rahal was and still is one of the world best HT Docs. He removed the strip, stiched me up, opened all the channels and inserted the frontal hairline, the techs did the rest and the results were amazing. Don’t think DHT and stick&place even existed in 2008 and if it did it surely wasn`t with 0,6-0,8mm punch or Lion implanter pens. Also, it takes some time for doctors to get accustomed to these new techniques. FUE evolved a lot in the past 11 years to the point that it’s now becoming the standard in HT. Now we even have BHT from the beard to add density to the scalp something that Pekiner does for 2.4€/graft and in the US the top Docs charge 4 times more.
  20. You could have done much much worse than Asmed but for the price you paid you could have had a world class doctor doing the whole procedure and only seeing you for the whole day. If it was me I would keep the plane ticket and change the HT to Pekiner or Keser (3,5€/graft Pekiner’s was his assistant when he started working in this field).
  21. Rahal for me is the best FUT Doctor in the world and a amazing person. He did gave me a great price to do FUT again but for FUE he is out of my budget. Also I think he is doing FUE with techs the same way as Asmed but with much better results. You have to understand that Doctors that only open the channels and have techs do rest can treat up to 10 patients per day and place 5k grafts while a Doctor like Kaan Pekiner doing everything himself can only treat 1 patient per day and do a maximum of 1500 grafts. It’s not as profitable and some Doctors start treating patients this way to establish themselves in the market and then switch to tech based surgerys. Dr Acar in Turkey is one of these examples. He was a strong critic of the Turkish hairmills that have techs doing all the work and now he has a tech team just for DHI.
  22. I am going to book my second HT and for me it’s all about the quality of the doctor and his technique versus price. Searched Doctors that do the entire surgery themselves with either stick & place or DHT with a steady flow of patient posts showing great results charging a price I can afford as I need 4-5k grafts. My search lead me to Kaan Pekiner: 2.15€/graft (stick&place and does BHT from the beard to add density for 2.4€/graft) check his results in this forum and the italian forum https://bellicapelli.forumfree.it/m/?f=64816590 Couldn’t find any other Doctor with this level of technique and results at this price level. 23. I read that Asemd is a tech based surgery and they don’t do DHI nor stick & place. The doctor opens the channels and the 20something techs insert grafts. I would always give preference to a surgery in which the Doctor is doing the whole procedure either with stick & place or DHI as it produces better results than opening all the channels and let them accumulate fat and blood during the time it takes the techs to insert the thousands of grafts.
  24. Would never pay 8US per graft when I could get a much better price with same level of quality. You live in the US so you’re just a quick flight away from Rahal that charges less and in Canadian dollars. If you want to save even more money without sacrificing results and don’t mind a longer flight go to Kaan Pekiner in Turkey.
  25. I am considering Kaan myself because he does everything himself. Manual extraction punch between 0,6m - 0,9mm and then inserts the grafts with the stick & place technique which means the Doc opens the channel and immediately places the hair inside (better results and recovery but gets the Doctor tired much faster). Since Kaan does not use a motorized punch to extract the grafts quicker (manual provides better feeling and control) and then does stick and place this means he can’t do more than 1500 grafts per day so If I do 5000 grafts it will be a 4 day surgery. The 3 best Spanish doctors Couto, Freitas, Lorenzo do the extraction with both motorized and manual punch but the main difference is that they are all using a implantor pen. This pen does both steps at the same time (open the channel and place the hair inside) this technique is called DHT. Some say DHT gets better results than stick & place but from what I read it only gets slightly better results if the doctor doing this technique is extremely experienced. This DHT technique much like stick&place, means you will be doing 1200-1500 grafts per day maximum (maybe more because these Docs use motorized punch) so a surgery could also take 4 days. Would never consider HLC because I have no way of knowing which doctor will be doing my HT. The others you mentioned are out of my budget but what I saw from them it was at the same level as Kaan Pekiner with the added bonus that Kaan does beard BHT to add density. The top 3 Spanish doctors really do seem to be among the best in the world but they charge more than Kaan and have a 2 year wait list. Let me know if you find other Doctors with posted results that are doing the whole procedure themselves with either stick&place or DHT with Lion implanter at this price point.
