  1. @Gasthoerer yes you are right, even the world best Doctor has had some bad results but how do we minimize the risk of getting a bad result? I think it comes down to looking at a lot of results posted by patients (on this forum and others) and chosing a Doctor that is consistently achieving really good results. I can`t compare results from clinics that use technicians because the techs that achieved those results might not work there anymore and the new techs can be providing better or worst results. I will stick with comparing results from Doctors that perform the whole surgery regardless of their technique (what matters is the results they can achieve). In Spain, Lorenzo, De Freitas, Couto (the Top Iberian Doctors) are using the Lion Implanter Pen not pre-made slits.
  2. @Hobo_Sapiens you will find that very few clinics explain what is the Doctor involvement in the surgery but If you see that the Doctor is not even mentioned on the clinic`s website then it`s most likely a clinic providing surgeries done by technicians. Not a lot of Doctors offer a surgery in which the Doctor is doing the entire surgery, they usually have technicians doing part of the surgery so they can have more than 1 patient per day (divide the Doctor time between the patients) and thus doubling (or tripling depending on nº of patients per day) the daily turnover of their clinic. Technicians are usually under paid staff that can be there one day and gone the next so how can we compare results from 1 year old surgeries done by clinics that use technicians that are problaby not working there anymore? The new techs can be achieving very different results (better or worst). The only way to compare results is when you look at results posted by Doctors from surgeries that are being performed entirely by the Doctors (with nurses and technicians helping the Doctor during the surgery ofcourse). When I went to Dr. Kaan I knew I would be getting a similar result to the patients that posted results from his surgeries because he does the entire surgery. I had the whole clinic and its staff dedicated to my surgery during 3 days. It`s for this reason that the Portuguese Doctors I reccommended that have the exact same approach, Dr. Bruno Pinto and @Dr. Bruno Ferreira are much more expensive than the well know Portuguese clinics but have long wait lists and the Portuguese clinics you mentioned need to offer discounts to convince people to book a surgery.
  3. @bruce90 he started a new thread about this https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/55929-small-grafts-or-miniaturized-hair/?tab=comments#comment-529411
  4. No, he just booked a appointment for Monday with Dr. Bruno and might also be doing a thricogram with a Dermatologist. I asked Goncalo to write here but if he doesn’t have the time I will let you know the feedback 😉
  5. @duchaine I have to agree with @Sam818and @transplantedphil you really should go to another clinic just to be sure because from what I understood you went to Dr. Kaan previous place of work in Ankara and those guys might not be very happy he left them and opened his own clinic so they might want to seize any opportunity to criticize his work (it can be a possibility). Besides your case there was also my friend Gonçalo on December 18th and @lixinfu on October 2019 but Dr. Kaan even has surgeries on Saturday so he could be doing 300 patients per year and only have 1% of those aborted. That said, when I found out about Goncalo I was super worried that might also happen to me and so I sent several videos and pictures asking them to confirm I didn’t have miniaturized grafts but the clinic rep said that it’s only possible to confirm that in person. I only stopped worrying after Dr. Kaan started taking the first grafts and told me I had good “anagen” grafts. Goncalo is going to see Dr. Bruno Ferreira on Monday to ask for a second opinion, I will let you know how that goes.
  6. @Gasthoerer Dr. Kaan did advise me to go for another FUT with Dr. Rahal and after 1 year come to him for FUE+BHT but I knew I had a limited donor area and would need to compensate with beard grafts to achieve a decent density so I chose to get this done in only 1 surgery with a Doctor that had experience doing beard mega sessions. Maybe if I had chosen to first go to Dr. Rahal I would now have a depleted donor after having done a FUT surgery of just 2000 graft that provided 15cm2 density to the crown and midscalp (not something I would have been happy with). Hope I made the right choice.
  7. Good morning everyone, I’m 12 days post-op and yesterday returned to work. Everyone was commenting on my new look (still have many scabs on the midscalp) so I openly spoke about my hair transplant with my colleagues and they praised me for having the courage to travel alone to Turkey to get this done. Below are pictures with hair wet and dry. Would really appreciate your comments. Thank you.
  8. @Melvin-Moderator maybe you’re right and since I don’t work for any of the these Doctors I don’t want anyone to think otherwise. I do think more members should post prices for the Doctors or Clinics they talk about so we can know if it’s worth spending our time talking with them. Sometimes it seems like some people are afraid to tell the prices they received (I’m not and nobody asked me the keep it a secret). Don’t know yet if I am happy with my results for my second HT because I’m 11 days post surgery. Would really appreciate your feedback on my results thread.
  9. I’m rotting for you @Egy hope we both get great results 💪
  10. @Egy you are right there are nice results from Cinik in this forum but after watching @Melvin-Moderator video warning us against clinics that provide “all inclusive” no limit grafts like Dr. Cinik clinic, I just can’t find myself recommending him to anyone while he continue this type of approach at 2090€ all inclusive rate per surgery.
  11. @Melvin-Moderator I don’t know yet if I’m happy with my surgery because I’m still waiting for the results. Also, I’m not affiliated with any of these Doctors and in the case of Dr. Bruno Ferreira, Dr. Ximena and Dr. Demirsoy (not a fan but he is cheap) I’m not even their patient and recommend them solely based on price/technique vs results here in this forum. I think there better Doctors than the ones I’m recommending here but I just don’t think there are better Doctors charging less. Please correct me if I am wrong as myself and a lot of people surely will appreciate knowing about other best value Doctors. In 2008 when I had surgery with Dr. Rahal I spent years recommending him and Hasson&Wong constantly because they had the best results in this forum and were cheaper than many US Doctors, in those days no moderator said I was coming off as salesman. I guess things have changed since those days but I will stand by my comments until I am proven wrong and hope you can allow me to continue to recommend best value Doctors that I believe can achieve a great results and not make us pay an arm and a leg for them. If you or any one else disagrees with me, that’s great, so let me know which Doctors you guys think is doing amazing surgeries with great results at 2.5€/grafts or less because while knowing who’s the Elite is important it’s also important to know who does the surgery like the Elite with results on the same level of the Elite but charging us much less. I would really appreciate it if you and more members could contribute with the prices and the techniques of the Doctors you think can achieve good results at more affordable prices (minimum wage in Portugal is 600USD/month so here we are all very much geared towards value for money).
  12. @Pyrat Eugenix now costs 1.75€/graft of you want Dr. Arika to do some crucial extractions and supervise the surgery (Dr Seethi is even more expensive) so basically Eugenix is still a surgery that is mostly done by technicians even with the more expensive packages that include the supervision of the reputed Doctors. Dr. Kaan Pekiner charges 2.15€/graft for a surgery performed 100% by him with Stick&Place technique at a clinic that only has 1 patient per day. So for just 30 cents more per graft you can have a totally different level of surgery. If you really want a low price Doctor and don’t mind having technicians do some or most of the surgery then I advise you to go to Dr. Demirsoy because he only has 1 patient per day and charges 1.25€/graft with several nice results on this forum (he has techs do some of the surgery though).
  13. @Uncle drew why don’t you ask Saide at Dr. Kaan clinic to send you the before and after pictures of your surgery so you can post them here? Saide number is +90 (538) 854 55 71 and she can send the pictures to you by whatsapp like she did for me.
  14. @Egy I was under the impression you were also not to happy with your second hair transplant at Cinik. Anywway, there several bad cases for Cinik in this forum and in others as it a tech run surgery with all inclusive low prices. @Pyrat you are doing the right going to a Dermatologist first to check your scalp and skin conditions but the most important thing to rule out is if you have DUPA/BUPA (minitiuarization of grafts). If you have this condition a good Doctor will stop your surgery after he spots you have this issue. Clinics that only want your money will not tell you anything and continue to the surgery but you will get a bad result if you have DUPA/BUPA. I have been told that the only way to be sure if a patient has this condition is to actually remove some grafts and check under microscope. Dont worry too much because DUPA affects just 2-4% of the male population.
  15. @Uncle drew you should really change the title of this thread to “Dr. Kaan Pekiner FUE 1080 grafts 21/08/2019” Just so people looking for Pekiner’s results can easily search this forum and find your amazing result.
  16. @Pyrat there are quite a few bad results from Dr. Bhatti and Dr. Cinik in this forum. Talk with @Egy that had a bad result with Dr. Cinik and check his results thread. You are mentioning low cost clinics that rely on young technicians to do the hair transplant (you get want you pay for). I strongly recommend you to chose a Doctor that does the whole surgery himself and has patients posting great results. My search lead me to Dr. Kaan Pekiner (2.15€/graft) and Dr. Bruno Ferreira (2.5€/graft at his clinic in Porto and he is also the Medical assistant of one the best FUE docs in the world Jose Lorenzo). Trust me you won’t find any doctors with great results that are doing the whole surgery with direct hair implantation or stick&place at a cheaper price. Good luck!
  17. @duchaine I would have done the same! My friend Goncalo had surgery with Dr. Pekiner on 18/12 and he had the same problem you had so he came back with just 272 grafts Implanted instead of 5000. I just told him to also get a second opinion and advised him to talk with @Dr. Bruno Ferreira (Dr. Jose Lorenzo medical assistant). Looking forward to hearing what HLC had to say.
  18. Great Post @Carjoca but if you are listing the world elite of FUE then you have to include the Spanish Kings of FUE: Dr. Jose Lorenzo, Dr. Rafael De Freitas and Dr. Juan Couto.
  19. @Hobo_Sapiens I am reccomending Doctors with dozen of patients posting their amazing results online and only Doctors that perform the whole surgery themselves with the most advanced techniques, which is either using Implanter Pen to open the hole and insert the graft at the same time thus increasing the graft survival rate - or stick&place. How can you recommend a clinic that has no patients showing their results online? Do you really believe the pictures on the clinic website are to be believed? Should we also believe we will all have the same level of surgery they performed on the celebrities that are paid to endorse them? Open your eyes my friend! Do you know that Dr. Cruz Dinis uses technicians to do the surgeries at his clinic just like C2MC and Saude Viavel? Dr. Kaan Pekiner told me this during our 3 day surgery because he met him at a conference. Yes 3 days Hobo because when a Doctor does the whole procedure he can only do around 1000 grafts per day so a surgery like mine with 3895 grafts takes 3 days and during that time I had a whole clinic just for myself. Go to the Spanish forum see some patient results of Bruno Pinto and then dig a little deaper into the techniques used by the best FUE doctors in the world and you will see they are doing the whole surgery with Implantor Pens or Stick&Place without relying on technicians. After you have done this research you will begin to understand why Dr. Bruno Pinto is fully booked until 2021 and the clinics you talked about will persuade you with discounts to convince you to book the surgery. I’m not a Doctor but I had a hair transplant 12 years ago with the best FUT Doctor in the world Dr. Rahal and I have been keeping myself updated on the evolution of FUE techniques and who are the best and most affordable Doctors which right now for FUE, they are Bruno Ferreira (2.5€/graft) and Kaan Pekiner (2.15€/graft).
  20. @Egy I do agree but if I mentioned other foruns it’s only because I had to go there to check results on those Doctors as they have none or few results here. Nevertheless I fully understand and will not post links to other forums. @Melvin-Moderator can we just say go check the results at the “Spanish” or “Italian” forum hoping our fellow members know about them? I myself for a long time only knew about HRN and for me this is still and by far the best forum!
  21. @Melvin-Moderator I have been a member of this forum for the past 12 years and my posts have always been with the aim to help out other patients like myself by providing honest information and to get information by discussing the work of good Doctors with you and other members. I didn’t make any accusation and asked for the Administration input by PM regarding DHT because I would like to know if Direct Hair Transplant is the same as DHI in which the Doctor opens a channel and implants the graft at the same time with implanter pens. If DHT is in fact a technique in which all channels are open and then the grafts are inserted in on go then Eugenix is making a correct claim on their website and I will from now on know what DHT stands for. Sorry if it’s unusual for someone to like to be informed on these things but I was recommending Eugenix to a friend on a tight budget and wanted to know what I was reccomending. Thank you.
  22. @Carjoca I guess your talking about HLC Ankara and you are right they are the best and most expensive clinic in Turkey (2.7€/graft). The only reason why I don’t include them on my recommendations for Turkey is because they are a clinic so I don’t know the Doctor responsible for the results posted nor do I know who will do the surgery because they have several Doctors.
  23. @duchaine why don’t you do SMP? It would increase the density and overall look of your hair. Dr. Kaan told me he will be going to Milan this month to receive training on SMP with Milena Lardi but I found that Terrance Jones at Skalptec Liverpool won World Best SMP Artist award in 2019 and is supposed to be even better. Also Paul Clark in Birmingham at the Brandwood Clinic is reputed as one of the best in the world. I am also considering SMP next year because I only managed to get 30cm2 density in my crown from Dr. Kaan surgery due to lack of donor area. Check out the pictures to get a ideia of what you can achieve with SMP.
  24. @Carjoca this happened to a very close friend of mine last month and Dr. Pekiner also stopped his surgery because his grafts were minituarized. When I had my surgery I commented this with Dr. Pekiner who told me that if my friend had went to any of the many Turkish hairmills they would have said nothing and taken his money. I do believe this to be true but sorry I can’t name these clinics (I am here to read about the Doctors that are achieving great results and not to investigate the bad ones). From the many threads I read with results from Turkish Doctors none had the high level technique or results achieved by Dr. Pekiner or Dr. Keser. So for me, when I talk about Turkey I only recommend these two Doctors. Ofcourse other people are free to reach their own conclusions and have a very different opinions (hence one of the reasons why we all talk in this forum).
  25. Sorry about this Duchaine but you are lucky you chose Dr. Pekiner because any of the many Turkish hairmill clinics would have just kept their mouth shut and taken your money. The same thing happened to my friend Goncalo last month and he is very thankful he went to Dr. Pekiner. This is a Doctor that is not trying to get our money this is a Doctor that puts the patient first and will not do surgery if there’s a risk of bad outcome.
