  1. Hey FUE2014, And there was me thinking that nobody cared anymore! TBH I didn't want to keep on posting up pictures that showed very little difference and boring everyone. Not much has changed since the 9 months I think it is subtle maturing of the hair. I seem to get quite early growth. The overall improvement has been noticeable and many guys who have seen me in person over the years have commented to that effect. I got a new camera recently so will try some photos when I am in Dublin at the weekend.
  2. Perhaps he is ahead of the game with his 'Combover' and taking fashion tips from David Beckham and George Clooney.
  3. Shampoo, Thanks very much, I shall pass your comments on about the music as I agree this was not the best choice of tracks. Thanks KO.
  4. This patient from Seattle came to see Dr. Wong for his first procedure when he was in his mid 30's. 5864 grafts were placed front to back. The first surgery provided a remarkable transformation and the patient was very happy. He decided 3 years later to have a 2nd procedure of 3146 to increase density throughout the entire area. This result is approximately 5 years post op from his 1st and 2 years post op from his 2nd. Total graft count from both surgeries: 9010. He has taken Proscar since before the first surgery. 1st surgery breakdown: 5864 fu total, 1141 - 1's, 3487 - 2's, 1236 - 3-4's. 2nd surgery: 3146 fu, 809 - 1's, 1975 - 2's, 362 - 3-4's. His hair texture/caliber is average. Don't miss the video of this patient after the photos.

  6. KO- Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. He had medium coarse hair, yes his groupings were on the low side. Ontop- I posted a link to the results from his first HT in the original post. To be clear he did not stop his meds after the first HT he stopped his meds after the initial consult for some reason. He started up before he had the first HT and has continued with them without issue since. Thanks to the rest of you for your comments. We do not have a HD video of this patient unfortunately. As KO says he is wearing his hair as he was before surgery but now has a great deal more of it. It is an age appropriate hairstyle for the gentlemen in question if he comes by the clinic again we will be sure run a comb through his hairline and take some photos.
  7. Strikey, Don't expect to be on track at two months as the growth will only just have started and the visual difference will be minimal that can be seen from a photo. That said you appear to have a little more hair than the pre op photo but is difficult to tell. If you have any growth it is just the start of things and is now a long journey that takes 8 months to a full year to see your full results. You will feel the hairs more than you will see them at this stage. Keep patient and and look forward to following your progress.
  8. This is a good topic that comes up every now and again. Considering the vast majority of people of this site are lurkers rather than posters what happens after surgery is that some of these lurkers try their hand at posting their story. Any clinic who knows that patients who come from the forums will ask if they are going to document their story. Many of these patients didn't contribute to the forum beforehand because they are not that type of person to post but they read a great deal. People don't like commenting on forums at first for fear of being made to look stupid by asking questions perhaps others think they should already know so they just read. To all those patients that had good surgery most go through an initial high that lasts a few weeks to a month. This is the time that most go onto post their story because they feel they need to give back to the guys and the forum that they learnt so much from some do it as they are grateful to their Doctor. These are the guys that are more likely to give up posting at some stage whether that be 1 week or 8 months or somewhere in between. Why do they give up? people can only speculate but for all the reasons that people have already said, you cannot say it is down to just bad results or the patient being unhappy. People use this forum as a crutch and most don't need it anymore once the hair starts to come in. We can all live in a reality where people are selfless and want to document their story just for the benefit of us but that is not the case, people move on and they don't owe the forum members or the clinic a debt to follow through with their updates. I have seen it time and time again a patient that is in regular contact with me for the first few months and then I struggle to get a photo from them. I think that people on this forum either tend to focus on the good or the bad a patient who is 6 months and not showing the type of result you might expect gets a lot more heat than the guy who is on track likewise the guy who is looking amazing at 6 months gets much more interest. If a patient comes on here documenting a solid but not outstanding result and doesn't get much interest he gives up after a while after all what is he documenting his result for other than the members of the forum, it is a shame as the number of lurkers that read these threads should be taken in consideration. I am sure there are patients whose results aren't going so well so they stop posting because of the negativity they get and feel embarrassed but I know from experience that most simply move on they get busy with their lives, work and personal. What is the common factor of guys who are post op? They are mostly hiding away and have time to start documenting their story when they have time off work. Half of these patients don't even get to the 3 month stage before they stop posting so it is not a case of not seeing the results it is a just a case of not having the time/inclination to post anymore. The guys that follow through are the regular posters on here, the ones with the amazing results who get a lot of positive feedback and enjoy that and the ones with the sub par results who need constant support throughout the process.
  9. This local patient in his 30's was particularly bothered by his hair loss. Dr. Hasson restored the entire frontal zone while also adding density to the weakened forelock with 3796 grafts of which 962 were 1's, 2661 were 2's, 173 were 3-4's. At the time of surgery he was taking Proscar. He had medium density and hair on the coarse side. He was ahead of schedule and looking quite good considering this result was only 5.5 months post op.
  10. Trapps, It is difficult to say why the consultant recommended fue over strip considering you have a donor scar already but it could be for a number of reasons. You may have limited laxity left in order to take out your old scar and harvest the number of grafts you need. You have have been prone to poor healing. It is very tough for a previous strip patient to have fue and shave down the entire donor region for a small session of 1000 grafts but that maybe your only option. Did you return to the clinic that did your last strip session? Or is this somewhere new? I would get a few more opinions if you are unsure.
  11. Welcome walkingbald nice name bth. If you are a Norwood 5- 5a then 2200-3000 is not going to deal with your loss in one session unless you have a lot of pre-exisiting native hair currently? If you are slick bald or near enough then yes you are going to need at least two procedures if you want to get as much coverage as possible. You were told that you have fine donor hair and I assume that your density is below average hence the low numbers? With FUT it is a combination of density, laxity, size of area and hair caliber that are the key factors. Your donor density must be low to have only been able to get that number of grafts in the first session for a virgin patient. Even if you got 3000 grafts it would only be suggested to design you a hairline and frontal area of the scalp spreading it over the entire balding area would not be a cosmetically pleasing result. So one procedure won't cut it unless you have expectations only of a frontal transplant and a bald crown? Perhaps this is all you have in terms of donor I would have to see photos or you in person to confirm. You are right these points should be made clear before surgery so you have a firm grip of what to expect a well informed patient is generally a more happy one. There is no magic way of knowing the exact amount of grafts that can be harvested via FUT on the day of surgery and will only be known once the surgeon has started and finished the operation a number of surgical factors can determine this. There are occasions when the numbers fall short and when more grafts can be harvested this will be able to be communicated with you. In your case you need as many as possible to reach what sounds like your goal. You should loosen your scalp with scalp exercises and after a couple of months doing this daily the surgeon will be able to harvest more grafts. Good clinics will charge you for the number of grafts transplanted and there may be less or more to pay on the day once the graft count is known. I can't speak for other clinics but the Doctor at our clinic counts the incisions made as he is making them. You can have a clicker to press every 100 that are made. You should be quoted a estimated number of grafts with in your case a possibility to get more on the day is it is possible. You should go to a clinic who charges per graft rather than hair. Each graft contains 1-4 hairs so it makes financial sense to do so. It depends on the hair groupings on your scalp as to whether you have a high number of single, doubles and multi hair ones. I hope that answers some of your questions.
  12. Hairfarmer, Bill emailed a single photo to Dr Wong on Friday of the hairline including the eyebrows asking for him to contact you to discuss. Bill emailed me yesterday to say this happened. Dr Wong has been and will be in Italy and Spain the until the end of the week. I have contacted him to make him aware that this thread is ongoing and to review your photo from his emails. He is not being evasive he is busy and has not seen your photo until now. Please be patient and someone from the clinic will be in contact with you soon.
  13. Hairuk84, Leave this with me I will look into it for you and see if we have any updates on the case. There are no photos in this thread as they were hosted elsewhere and we are in the process slowly and surely replacing the broken links. I am going to be busy in London with Dr Hasson over the next four days and will see what I can find out for you.
  14. Turtle you look great for 4 months that is some really early growth you have. Thanks for posting.
  15. This local patient in his early 40's first came to see Dr. Wong for a consultation in 2007. He used Finasteride for brief periods of time but not consistently which was evident when he came back 5 years later in 2012 after further hair loss. He decided it was time to pull the trigger on a hair restoration procedure. By rebuilding his hairline and adding density front to back where needed, his first surgery resulted in a significant cosmetic improvement using 4597 grafts: 1696 1's, 2685 2's , 216 3-4's. One year after the date of his first surgery, he opted for a second surgery to increase density in the hairline and crown adding 2514 grafts: 1077 1's, 1396 2's, 41 3-4's. This result is 27 months after the first procedure and 15 months after the 2nd. Here's the original thread for those that wish to see the results from the first session. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/175757-dr-wong-4597-grafts-one-year-fut.html
  16. Spanker- Dr Hasson takes a variable width of strip in this case it was around 1.5cm on average. Still a high density donor. Apologies for the confusion I have corrected the information. Delancey- Thanks for your comment. He was around a Norwood 5V I don't have the total area cm2 covered in the recipient. Looking at the chart I would say the patient had around 50-60 ish hairs per cm2 into the frontal area. He has quite coarse hair. Below is a photo of the immediate post op placement to show the areas that the grafts were placed and the back of the patients head post op. We do not take photos of the back of the patients head immediate post op as a rule.
  17. Ejj, Looking good man you have come a long way in the hands of Dr Bisanga. Really pleased for you.
  18. Punkrocker, Well done on being brave enough to post your photos up. Propecia is advisable to anyone who is going to get a transplant especially at your age. That combined with a transplant into the frontal third of your scalp would give you the best chance of not having to go through the procedure again. But there are no guarantees that you won't start to think out in the mid scalp. Provided you are not looking to be too aggressive with your hairline placement you should be ok. As Spanker said the crown looks good now but hair loss is unpredictable so you just don't know where you will be in 5-10 years time, meds will greatly reduce that chance of further loss here but not guarantee it. Don't just stick to your own country, whilst there are options in the UK many guys choose to go abroad. Read and learn on the forums and have some online consultations with some Doctors you like the look of their results. Above all meet some patients who have had surgery so you know what a HT can look like.
  19. Shock loss can occur in the recipient area whether FUE or FUT I think we see less cases of shock loss here as most Doctors ask the patient to shave. It should be uncommon with one of the top docs yes.
  20. I echo what Rootz says you will be fine to use concealer/make up on the recipient area at 3 weeks but do wash it off to allow the skin to breathe and don't wear unless you have to. Rootz also makes a very good point that you should grow the hair longer behind to cover the work post op. Start brushing your hair forward now and then to get people used to the idea of you with a fringe if your hair is long enough.
  21. Hi Mikeey, Both methods can create shock loss in both the recipient and the donor neither methods are totally risk of shock loss. Shock loss in the donor on FUT tends to happen when the closure is tighter and more difficult. I honestly think that shock loss in the donor is more common with FUT than FUE and tends to be around the mastoid area where the scalp is tighter. I have seen more cases of fue shock loss in the donor on this site as some clinics are doing larger sessions and taking a higher percentage of available grafts so I think this will be something we will see more of as a result.
  22. Guys thanks for your comments whether you think the hairline to be right or too conservative it was lower than was in mind for him initially, either way the result has taken years off him and changed his appearance for the better. I will see if we have some post op placement photos and more information on the density in the donor area to answer your questions. Fisher4man- We do not post the photos of patients once they are shaved. This guy has lost nearly all of his hair in the frontal area and chose to wear his hair this length. When you have miniaturization throughout a large area like he does it is not going to look good grown out so many patients choose to wear it short as the loss is much less noticeable. It is not the case that we always/mostly present patients in this way we cannot control how they wear their hair pre op just like we have no idea how they wear their hair after surgery but transplanted hair will look fuller and denser grown out. We have had a few recently but overall this is not the case as you can see if you check back our results over the years. He was a diffused class 5. I will try to get the additional photos that you requested. We get full permission to post patients photos showing their face or not this patient was happy to show his face. I for one and I know many others follow the same viewpoint that showing the face adds greatly the visual presentation of the results and the full transformation can be seen in this case not just that he has got his hair back but how it changes his appearance.
  23. A take a good multi vitamin daily that includes vitamin B stick to some of the more well know brands. I use Centrum personally if you want to get better vitamins there are specialist shops but expect to pay more. In the past I have tried many vitamins and can't really see how you can tell the difference between cheap and more expensive ones tbh.
  24. Shock can occur any stage in the first month to 6 weeks and can take up to 4-5 months to recover around the scar. That might be the reason why some patients complain about the scar being more difficult to hide 2 months post op. Shock does not happen to that many patients and if it does you can use a product like courve to conceal the scar or some use Toppik or Nanogen for the first few months until the hair has recovered. As others have mentioned keeping your hair longer pre and post will hide the scar. Good luck.
  25. This patient in his late 20's traveled from Australia to have his procedure with Dr. Hasson. His goal was to get as much coverage as possible. He was willing to live with a conservative hairline with recession in order to get coverage in the crown. The more conservative hairline was not necessary as Dr. Hasson was able give him the best of both worlds with 5051 grafts. Breakdown: 1184 single hair grafts, 3533 doubles, 334 3-4 hair grafts. High density strip 34cm x an average of 1.5cm. Using Propecia at the time of surgery. This result is 2 years 6 months post-op.
