  1. Was good reading your original post Mike, and don't be discouraged by my comment, but i think the system you are wearing looks too thick, and that as it is, i could tell you are wearing a hair system. I know from reading threads online from people who wear hair systems say it takes time in the begining to get it how you like it and improving your technique over time helps, but i'm no expert...so may be wrong.
  2. Most of the hairs do shed, so nothing unusual is happening, and like i said earlier, it will get worse before it gets better, and it just did get worse, no more shedding from here on, you just need to power through these next couple of months. The sebum thing/build up is probably because you were washing your hair too gently, then you washed properly and the grafts came out, which probably were ready to drop before anyway. I'm on day 9 now so i'm still rocking the buzz look, but pretty soon my grafts are going to fall and i'll be down in the pitts too, wishing my hair to grow and the time to pass. Keep the faith Jonny, this is the hardest part of the hair transplant, the waiting.
  3. Looking good mate, careful with stopping the meds though, i lost quite a bit of density from stopping minox and cutting my propecia dosage too low, but i was a good responder to minox.
  4. Hi all, I had my second transplant on Tuesday 1st December, was really wrestling with whether to go FUE or Strip, but decided on FUE with Dr Lorenzo. The procedure was relatively painless apart from a few of the injections, in particular the ones in the temple points hurting the most. I fell asleep during most of the extractions, although it does get a little uncomfortable lying still in the same postion, but not too bad. The clinic was professional and the day went by fast. Dr Lorenzo was great, and he had a English assistant there called Grace, who was a pleasure to chat too. On day 5 i got increased sensitivity in the donor region, making it hard to sleep, but ibuprofen and aloe vera gel really helped ease the pain. According to Dr L only a small amount of his patients get this extra sensitivity in their donor, lucky me, but i'm now on day 9 and as the doc said the pain has decreased now and is on its way out. About 75% of the scabs have come off when washing, and it just looks like a have a nice buzz cut at the moment, but i'm sure come around week three the hairs will be a falling. I have tried to upload the pictures, but not having much luck with it. The doc sent me the pictures he'd taken, but through photobucket, and i've tried copy and pasting, and linking the photos to the thread but no joy as yet, any ideas let me know, i'm too knackered right now to think properly and play around with it, but will get them up shortly. Here's my stats from the procedure: Grafts: 2222 Hairs: 5543 Hairs per graft: 2.49 Hair caliber: 40 to 46 microns Singles: 280 Doubles: 836 Triples: 1021 quadruples: 117 5FU: 8
  5. Dr Lorenzo, 2222 grafts in total. On day 9 now, donor itch has subsided, and 75% or so of the scabs have come off. Not many grafts has shed yet, normally around week 3 they start to fall, not looking forward to that cos it just looks like i'm sporting a nice buzz cut right now. So, in euros i paid 10,000.
  6. I think the best bet is to decide on two or three clinics and get consultations with them and a natural preference will emerge. H+W, SMG both in your country and have along record of producing consistently excellent results, both do mega sessions as well i believe.
  7. I'm in the conservative camp so would advise you put off getting a transplant just yet. You've only been on Fin for five months. Minox can be a great regrowth drug and you maximise it's potential taking it with fin, although it's a liquid you have to put on your head everyday, so it's not everybodies cup of tea. If you do get a transplant don't go too low with the hairline is my advise, you may be early 20s now, but the time goes so fast and a NW2 hairline maybe the norm now around your age and social group, but a lot of guys start to receed or thin quickly when they enter their 30s... Also if you get a transplant, make sure you stay on propecia, otherwise you will be left with closed temples and hairline but nothing behind it, will look a bit odd, but if you go FUE you can just shave it all short, but remember that everybody scars different, some better than others, much less noticeable than a strip scar though, people can't miss that if you cut the back down to anything below a grade 3.
  8. Probably a trade secret or something, but should be disclosed really. I'm thinking of getting this done in to my old strip scar, but the Uk clinics don't look as good as these ones based in NY, The Vinci clinc in the UK seems a bit of a mill, offers up hair transplants outsourced and that's kind of put me off possibly using them for SMP, plus i read that the ink drops out with the scab material, and works better for some than others...i was getting the impression from what i read that some of these SMP clinic are dodgy with poorly trained staff. Is there any Milena Lardi trained places in the UK?
  9. An anti inflammatory could help with the itch maybe? Aloe vera gel is helpful though, i put mine in the fridge so it's even more cooling when applied. Saline solution helps with it the itch during the first few days post op, not sure sure about day 20
  10. Yeah he is more expensive, being in Turkey makes Erdogan cheaper i think. How much did you pay? I paid ?7000 for 2000 grafts and got an extra 222 grafts for free plus a two night stay at a 4 star hotel, and enjoyed the experience oddly enough.
  11. You were right to be concerned so early, and at six months these result is sub par, you could drive a bus through the gaps of the transplanted hairs. I believe the transplant will get better, but i doubt you will be near satisfied with it. As someone mentioned, emu oil will help on the recipient, i'm currently using it on mine and it i feel it really helps post HT. It would be useful to see the hair grown out more to have a more accurate view of what it looks like longer. If This doc does not get removed from the recommended doctors we should all keep an eye on his future results and if bad as expected, then HTN will no doubt have no choice but to end this clinics recommendation.
  12. I had 2222 grafts all above my HT scar due to that area of the donor being dense with a ton of three haired grafts. Ibuprofen really helped me last night, and my pain seems less today, so one more night and i think i'll be fine without any Ibuprofen after that, phew! The doc said day 9 should be fine, looks like he's right, probably have a bit of residual tingling etc, but as long as it's getting better everyday then i'm fine with that.
  13. Damn, buried in the scalp, never heard of that before, must of been painful. I got the staples too in my first transplant, couldn't wait to get them taken out. I don't remember so well, as my first HT was in 2009, but it was uncomfortable to have them in my head more than painful, as my donor then was numb for two weeks after. My donor pain has eased a little from yesterday, and i took the iboufuren last night which took about 80% of the pain away, don't think i'll need them again after tonight, then i can get on with worrying about how the transplant will work out. I had 2222 grafts, but the doc took them all above the scar as i had a lot of three haired grafts and that where my donor was most dense. I'm relieved, and want to thank you for your posts Gill, as even on old threads going back years, there you are dishing out some helpful advice.
  14. Hey Esrec, Yeah there was a cancelation, so i got an appointment two months earlier than originaly booked, good for me as i'll be in better shape come spring when it's time to mingle more. I' will be posting a thread about it tomorrow with some new photos, but it went well, although i've been part of an unlucky 10% who gets extra donor pain, so i've had my own post op wobble/panic, fearing that i'll be stuck with pain in the back of my head forever, but chatted with the doc about it, and alls cool, just got to ride it out with some ibuprofen at night so i can sleep, just hit me by surprise as i didn't expect it and it didn't start till day 5. Will start my own thread though, as i dont want to hijack Jonny's.
  15. Great photos, and those 6000 grafts make a big difference to your appearence, you look better. The top down result is going to look a little brutal in making the transplant look thin, due to your high norwood, but face on and side on, which is how most people see you, it looks thicker, hence the illusion. Why you stop propecia? didn't think you'd get much benfit at this point or or did you feel a little less lead in your pencil?>
  16. Yep, still looks awesome. Is that 16 (no guard) on the sides or a grade 1?
  17. Good to know. When i was having a post op chat with Dr Lorenzo, his phone was on the table and started beeping, a name popped up 'Koray Erdogan' I saw it and said 'oh the the HT doc?' Seems they communicate and chat, Lorenzo seemed to hold your doc in high regard. I reckon Erdogan, Lorenzo and Feriduni probably the three best FUE docs in the world right now. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
  18. Cheers I've got my pre and post op pics from the clinic today, was going to post them but getting late, will make a thread and update my blog tomorrow
  19. Good to hear, have got ibuprofen to take for tonight, caught me off guard as i wasn't expecting delayed post op donor pain.
  20. Yeah i'm the same, recipient is fine, but the donor pain is worse at night.I felt next to pain free until day 5, then the pain seemed to be turned up a notch or two, which concerned me and made it difficult to sleep. I emailed my doctor and he has told me that for a rare few, maybe 10% of patients they get donor pain, increased sensitivity as he put it, anywhere from day 4/5 which becomes uncomfortable, especially at night. He recommeded paracetamol and/or ibuprofen at night, and that the pain goes away by day 9/10.
  21. I've read the thread, lots of useful info. I woke up last night two hours after falling to sleep and noticed the pain in the donor was worse now than any other time. I was on day 6, i had to get up and put some aloe vera gel on the donor and i won't lie to you, i was pretty worried about it as to me the whole thing seemed counter initutitive, as the pain seemed worse now than day 1 and 2, which for me was no problem then, i took no pain meds cos i felt okay with the pain, but last night i could not get back to sleep despite being tired. I am relieved to read that this is not too uncommon. I knew everything was going too well with the transplant, something had to go wrong. Hopefully will be less of an ache in my donor over the next 3-6 days, only really bothering me at night more than in the day, but i was worrying that i'd have this pain in the back of my head forever. This is my first post HT panic, had to happen at some point.
  22. I've got fine hair, check out my blog may be helpful
  23. I've still got pain in the donor (mild ache) on day 7, although i never took any pain meds post op, but it's still there at the back, skin feels quite tight, and someone said like sunburn, that sums it up pretty good.
  24. I think that if you accept that it will get worse before it will get better it may help you relax a little, but i totally understand your anxiety. That sebum like stuff is just skin shedding, it's actually pretty common, when i was having my 1 day post op check a guy came in to Lorenzo's office and was worried about the exact same thing and he was on day 12. i'm at day 6 now and i have it too mostly on my temple points especially after washing, the skin then goes really dry, i just put emu oil on it and it looks much better, it won't effect your result
