  1. A post like this without a picture is as helpful as a car without gasoline. all hair loss is progressive, u r on a solid regiment. Are you sure it’s not in your head.
  2. What plastic surgery? Everything listed on his website is dermatological related cosmetic procedure. There is too much hoopla about doctors that specialize in hair transplant vs doctors that do more than hair transplant. The truth is there are crappy doctors in both teams, and extraordinary ones in both. That is not a helpful criteria when going around searching for your HT doc. Just stay away from plastic surgeons that hire techs from neograft to do their hair transplants on the side. Those doctors are easily avoided by checking in with the forum here.
  3. ridiculous. what kind of a derm are you going too? can you name the clinic? What is your issue hair loss? Dr Robin unger should be a good resource in NYC. She is a derm/ hair transplant surgeon and faculty at Mt. Sinai. Still may be pricey but doubt 1800 for a consult
  4. sorry for antagnoizing you. just dont want you to get burned. I have no idea about dr benham but some doctors in this field can really talk the talk... and not walk the walk. good luck who ever u choose and keep us posted
  5. I agree this forum is not be all and end all of good doctors. Not by a long shot. There are a lot of good doctors out there that are not represented on this forum or any forum. They work quietly in the backgroud without any publicity. I also think it is fair to give a Dr a shot. You are right people improve and no one comes out of the womb learning hair restoration surgery. Practice makes one perfect. I just dont agree with your "I will grill him, and see what he tells me mentality." If you are as capable as you are finding a great doc you would not be here on this forum asking the question you are asking. If I was a NW 7 the options would be Konior, H and W, Bisanga. If you cant afford them, then its a different story...
  6. neither do you know anything about my background. You are going to see a doctor that clearly gave a below par result to this forum moderator. why take a risk when there are quality names on this thread. but you know what go for it. some patients will be satisfied with a sub par transplant, and will do anything to justify it.
  7. LOL at basing your decision on what right things the surgeon says. Patient: how many norwood 7 cases have you done and how satisfied were the patients Doctor: 25,000. I have a 99% satisfaction rate. Patient: sign me up. ***scratches head*** you are getting in your own way OP.
  8. 100% growth, in a poorly designed recipient sites is still a surgeons fault. This is the surgeon’s mis calculation, misvisualization and the results look odd to say the least. if you create enough noise on here, they will fix it for free. It sucks you have to do that. An ethical surgeon would wanna do it without the noise but who knows..
  9. Your concerns are valid. there is a disconnect between the transplaned region and the non transplanted region. It happens sometimes. Should be an easy fix. Dont worry about it. Dr Mwamba can probably fix this for free, but if you are hesitant to go with him again cause the trust is shattered I think Dr Camacho from Mexico does good work .
  10. Dr finasteride and Dr minoxidil. They both charge significantly less than ur budget.
  11. also this has been said ad nauseum but it’s not just about density. It is also about avg hairs/ fu and also the diameter of hair. Which is how erdogan came up with the concept of coverage value. Coverage values, all though not perfect, is probably a more appropriate way to compare “density” between two patients. This is the reason why "pound for pound" body hair will have a lot less coverage value than scalp hair mainly because the hair is thinner and there is less hairs per F/u usually just 1 rarely 2.
  12. you get the point. and most patients wont have 8-10k of true donor follcles so numbers are adjusted even further down. but you get the point it is a gradient. Aint nobody restoring norwood 6s at 60FU or 50 FU or even 40 FU / cm2.. LOL
  13. A true Norwood 6 will have atleast 220-300 cm2 of area to cover. At 60 fu/cm2 that will require between 12,000-18,000 follicular units. No one has this many. the numbers some of these people are throwing around are misleading. I saw that thread by a cuoto patient. Cuoto is supposedly know for density. If u look at that patients mid scalp it is transplanted at around 20fu/cm2
  14. Dr Bisanga is experienced so definitely take his advice. but also keep in mind sometimes when a doctor is busy he doesn’t want to work on more difficult cases that require a lot more time but won’t be worth it in terms of value. so for eg. If he can do 2 cases in one day easily but if he put your case and that day he can only do 1 case cause you are challenging but he is charging per graft he will “lose” money. If his schedule is booked it’s easier for him to say don’t bother. get some more advice from other reputable docs. I think u could have a good restoration if ur expectations are realistic.
  15. Most ppl don’t even have a donor area of 90fu/cm2 much less hairline.
  16. your donor area in the last photo looks solid considering all the things you have been through. There is no reason You cant have a great head of hair with time patience and money ofcourse
  17. i completely agree with Dr Pekiner's strategy. time and time over again. I have notice in the field of hair transplant - slow and steady wins the race. I regret having a big surgery for my first one and my doctor did not educate me. Can you post your donor area a bit. thanks
  18. what are your next steps? are you happy. it looks good but still lot of baldness in crown. do you have enough to go back for round 2?
  19. "randy your crown looks like it is losing hair. If you want to protect yourself from going bald you should see a dermatogist and get on finasteride. It really helpe me when I started it 4 years ago." show your photos, take photos of his crown.
  20. 1) 4 - 6 x baseline platelets. 2) in theory one injection per cm2. so usually should focus on a small area like 60cm2 or something. unrealistic to do the WHOLE scalp. ( i think i may be wrong) 3) once a month for 3 months followed by every 6 months. if no results after 6-9 months then dont continue 4) ask the provider. have they assessed the quality of their prp. Do they activate it with anything prior to injecting. I feel like it should be activated for better results. not all providers do this.
  21. wonder if that is a shot at Dr Zarev as he claims to not needing microscopes to see and has "glossy" instagram videos.
