  1. I agree with the previous comments that you have MPB and you should go to a doctor to get prescribed hair loss medications like fin
  2. It does sound like you are prone to MPB, to what extent no one can really predict. I'm similar in that my dad began to recede in his 30s mainly at the hairline, then it seemed to level off for a while and over time he began to diffuse throughout. A 66 now hes still not entirely bald but the hair is now diffuse, which is rather a good sign for me anyway if i follow that sort of trend. In any case, get your situation confirmed by a Derma or Hair transplant doctor, but bare in mind that some 80% of men will experience MPB in their lives so in all likelihood we're not outliers. In the case that you decide to start treatment, I believe you should start by building finasteride slowly as its the closest thing to targeting the root cause. In my opnion all other treatments should be considered as accessories, with maybe the exception of minoxidil and some non fda approved topical AAs. Don't bother with PRP or LLT, that will just waste your money. Kez Shampoo is an easy addition to a regimen so that should def be included too.
  3. Not much recession at all in your hairline. Your hair appears to be wet in all the photos so some of your scalp is showing which is obviously normal. I would say that if you saw your scalp through dry hair often than maybe you'd be susceptible to diffuse thinning, but your hair looks great in all honesty. I think the best thing you can do is figure out your family history and see if you have balding in your genes and definitely consult with a dermatologist or hair transplant doctor to get a better look at your scalp and see if you have any minaturization. If you were to be diagnosed with MPB, you're in the driver's seat as you caught it early
  4. Tbh dude.. you've been on dut for 17 years?? you're the guy we would be asking this question. If you haven't experienced much hair loss since you consistently started dut, then the high likelihood is that it has been working well for you, as if you ever had a reason to consult with a doctor over potential treatment, then you would have hair loss that is in some way progressive, whether he believes the extent of it isn't major or not. All im tryign to say is; it is safer to assume based off the many studies we have and the countless anecdotes of guys not starting medication and then minaturizing years later, that it's been holding you up, which lines up with what its supposed to be doing. How has it been on dut for 17 years?
  5. I agree with this, usually do see some some good responders from fin and min from diffuse thinners
  6. Ah ok. Upregulation is highly unlikely I believe due to RUs half life. It doesn’t fully suppress the AR and it’s metabolite clears in relatively small time span. There are many anecdotes online that prove its efficacy, and it outdid fin on the masque study. also not very related to this upregulation topic, but this is one study on RU https://www.infona.pl/resource/bwmeta1.element.elsevier-e5b77395-5e0e-3da3-bef2-0eadea69c845
  7. I don't know what you're asking tbh, what do you mean by up-regulation? But, I've been on RU for about 9 months now on top of fin and oral min and I haven't experienced anything significantly different but I'm maintaining my hair
  8. This is and always will be the most insane HT thread
  9. I started dating a girl 6-8 months before I had my hair transplant.. and as we were dating I was secretly arranging it. I kept it secret cuz in the beginning I wasn’t sure if she was going to be long term anyway, so what would be the point opening up to someone was my line of thinking. About 2 months to go until surgery I realized I obviously wouldn’t ne able to hide it from her once it happened so I let her know. It was really hard at that time to get to that point to tell her.. many times I has planned too and then pulled out from doing it. Eventually one day I let her know and she was very understanding, and I’m very lucky as I’m still w her today. It surprised her as well as my hair wasn’t even bad so she didn’t fully understand it right away, but supported my decision all the way. it was a great relief to be able to tell her too
  10. Yes, you need to try it before you consider a hair transplant
  11. If you're not on finasteride / haven't been, I think thats your answer right there
  12. I got it recently, but haven’t started it. My buddy is it on it for only about two weeks so far, and he hasn’t notice anything yet in terms of sides, and of course too early to gauge efficacy
  13. I can appreciate this. The guy is just trying to sound out to dudes who are on the fringe of complete loss to let it go, even if some of these things aren't complete advantages of course. I always think that being bald isn't an issue, its all how a person fits or reacts to their situation. I have a buddy who's bald and can't come to grips with it and wears a cap everywhere he goes, the shocking thing is he looks better now than when he had hair because he never did anything good with it back when he had it. On the flip side, another buddy of mine completely rocks it and ppl levitate towards him because he's so comfortable with it. Its a challenge for sure, and i'm not one to talk for how easy it is to accept hair loss as I've done as much as most ppl can to keep mine.
  14. The answer is: unlikely you need to try treatment and give it a year at least. Best thing you can do is start finasteride, give it 1 year and see what it’s done for you. You will likely maintain what you have and potentially regrow a small amount, but it’s unlikely it will restore a full hairline. If after a year you want to push for more regrowth, then I would add minoxidil in as welll, either topically or Orally; topically safer with less efficacy, oral more efficacy and maybe some slight concern for increased sides but not my experience anyway after 2 years on. Finally, it looks like we’ll have the addition of pyrulatimide soon which is a topical Anti androgen, and works in a different mechanism to fin, which can be a great add on to the regimen
  15. Case by case, some luckier than others, there have clearly been examples of both sides of the 6 month mark. Its irrelevant anyway, you should not gauge the success of any surgery at 6 months and shouldn't be planning for a second surgery if you haven't given it proper time. like many have said above, aside from potentially hair growth gains, the feel of the hair changes which plays a big part in the illusion of the transplant. I got early growth by about 5 months, however, my hair didn't natural wave/curl the way it needed to until after a year which affected what I was able to do with it.
  16. 2.5 mg for 2 years, I'm getting maintenance on fin and om, had some sides like light-headedness and maybe some skips in heartbeat on the occasion.
  17. He says: "probably" and I "suspect" the efficacy of pyrlutamide applied topically will be low, and lower than oral dutasteride but doesn't go off any data at all, or reason for why its lower. I suspect you did this interview before the data was released? @Melvin- Moderator There really isn't any take-away from what he says there. The P2 results imo are great, the 5mg BID group saw a similar hair per cm2 increase as oral finasteride and with a relatively low level of metabolite and report of side effects. It sort of seems to be on par with RU going off the study done on masques where they observed a much greater hair count increase than finasteride and only 2 monkeys detected a very low trace of the metabolite in their body, granted this doesn't directly translate 1:1 with humans, but it is our best model of comparison in the case of AGA. For me personally, I see this as a potential to cut my finasteride dosage slightly and apply pyr once a day or twice if I can possibly figure out how I'd do that, and feel like I'm attacking both angles. Pretty positive stuff so far will be interested to see the P3 results and hopefully they're done over a year.
