  1. Usually a good sign, no reason to not stick with it so see the shed through and wait until at least a year to assess your progress.
  2. If you went ahead with ordering the Xyon Topical Dut product, please consider posting your results on this trial thread:
  3. Starting Point Guideline - Date Started: February 13, 2023 (or once my blood work is complete) Age: 30 Gender: Male Update timeline: I'll post updates every 2 months Key Metric for Evaluation: Maintenance and observing side effect profile. I have had a FUE hair transplant to recover a NW2 shape hairline and have maintained native hair with medication listed below. For this reason, my personal experiment will be more geared towards tolerability, maintenance and gauging if it could yield results to be a stand alone treatment. Please list all previous medication used to combat hair loss at any point in the past: - 1mg Finasteride, 2.5 mg Oral Minoxidil, 25mg RU topically on * research subject* Please provide all medication specifically used 3 months prior to beginning Topical Dutasteride treatment: - 1mg Finasteride, 2.5 mg Oral Minoxidil, 25mg RU topically on * research subject* Please disclose if you will be using Topical Dutasteride alongside any other medication and at what doses & frequency: - 1mg Finasteride reduced to 5x per week, 2.5 mg oral minoxidil daily, low dose RU 2.5% on research subject Please indicate the dose and frequency you will be using Xyon’s Topical Dutasteride, ie. as per Xyon’s recommendation; 1 pump equal to 2% once daily. - 1 pump of 2% applied 1x per week, no other medication will be taken on that day. Bloodwork - Scheduled an appointment with my doctor to request bloodwork to test the following: Free Test, Total Test, DHT, Estradiol, SHBG, Prolactin. Won't begin trial of topical dut until I complete bloodwork and I'll update the bloodwork in my post as soon as I have it for future reference. 4. Discussion thread for Xyon's Topical Dutasteride user trial and other anecdotes of topical dutasteride usage. In this thread, feel free to post comments and questions regarding the user trial for Xyon's topical dut formulation, link to that page is here: All discussion will take place in this thread in order to not crowd the trial.
  5. This is a moderated thread for doccumenting Xyon's Topical Dutasteride Product. Only posts from users participating in the user trial and in the form of updates of their use of this product are permitted, all other discussion will take place on a separate thread in order to maintain consistency in evaluating the results/efficacy of this product. All comments outside of these guidelines will be removed by @Melvin- Moderator The discussion thread, where everyone is welcome to comment and ask questions, is linked here: https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/67653-xyon-topical-dutasteride-user-trial-2-discussion-comments-and-questions/ There is no affiliation with Dr. Hasson, Dr. Wong or anyone else at Xyon for this product. This thread is strictly for trialing what is claimed to be the best formulation so far for develivering Dutasteride topically (outside of mesotherapy). The intention is to expand on the small sample size that Xyon has provided for their trials. Baseline blood work beforehand is strongly encouraged as it will help users understand how the medication is affecting them and will allow us to build a stronger case for evaluation. If you are not able to obtain bloodwork, please still participate in posting your progress as it still valid input. A guideline for what to test for with blood work is below. Lastly, please fill out information within the guidelines as concisely and accurately as you can. All other discussion will take place in the other tread mentioned above. Please use the two guidelines below when posting to keep inputs uniform: Starting Point Guideline (please copy and paste this into your first post and fill in the blanks): Date Started: Age: Gender: Update timeline: (How often do you intend to update results?) Key Metric for Evaluation: (ex. Regrowth in crown, thickening of hair, maintenance, etc.) Please list all previous medication used to combat hair loss at any point in the past: Please provide all medication specifically used 3 months prior to beginning Topical Dutasteride treatment: Please disclose if you will be using Topical Dutasteride alongside any other medication and at what doses & frequency: Please indicate the dose and frequency you will be using Xyon’s Topical Dutasteride, ie. as per Xyon’s recommendation; 1 pump equal to 2% once daily. Bloodwork - If you have any blood work results prior to starting treatment with Topical Dut, please post them here (i.e, Free Testosterone, Total Test, DHT, Estrogen, SHBG, Prolactin etc) Starting Point Photo - Please try to use clear photos and avoid using dark settings. It would be best to take the photos in the exact same position and in the same spot/room so that in the future updates are consistent. Lastly, feel free to blur, shade in or crop your photo in order to hide your identity if you so choose, however, please allow for the photos to still be clear for the sake of comparison. 6. yep.. great interpretation of the data.. just skimmed through the study, the mean serum change after 4 weeks is impressive even if it is only 10 subjects being tested. Would really love if it included a better hair assessment but I'm not sure how much they would gather after 4 weeks anyway
  7. @Melvin- Moderator Can we create one separate thread strictly for posting result photos and updates for xyon products and restrict any other comments? It would almost be like our own case report study on the forumn. Discussion and questions can take place on a separate thread so that we don't take away from progress photos? Lmk what you think, I will be coming on the topical dut soon too
  8. A whole webpage full of hair transplant results.. I’m triggered
  9. Very normal, and I got plenty. They're often in grown hairs which is a sign of hairs growing too.
  10. You have a slightly thin spot near your swirl which is common and very minor thinning I would say closer to your mid scalp. That being said, you don't have a reason to be as worried as you are, your friends did you a favor pointing this out to you with a lot of time ahead of you. Being afraid of a shed is nonesense, that's short term thinking. If you can't endure a little bit of a shed now to benefit afterwards, then imagine how you'll feel as it progressively gets worse without any intervention. Do yourself a favor and stop reading every comment online from often times neurotic people who don't know how to measure the trade-offs for themselves.
  11. If you’re taking hrt, then you should be waiting to see what it will do for you
  12. Unfortunately you are not a candidate for a hair transplant. Your donor does not contain enough grafts to cover the area of loss. The idea to hair transplant the front and have a system for the back isn’t very bullet proof either. In the case that at some point in the future you decide you don’t to wear a system anymore, you will be stuck with scars from donor incisions. If you were to consider a hair system anywya, then try the full thing now and see how you manage with it. how has smp treated you?
  13. Looks like a tiny bug plucked your hair
  14. Dr. konior is regarded as one of the best in the world. Dr. Nadimi has come up here a few times with great results I believe Dr. Shapiro was regarded as one of the top for a long time as he’s also one of the ogs in the game As for the first comment, dr hasson and Wong are in Vancouver Canada but shouldn’t be an issue for American to get to them. There is also Dr. rahal in Ottawa.
  15. You need to tread lightly because some hair transplant in between natives could end up damaging native hair and as a result a loss of that natural density. I hope someone who knows more about that can speak on it. But I also agree that you don’t need to consider an ht yet. I understand your concern for density, but I think your medical route will likely do more to return some of it than an ht that will begin to deplete your donor too.
  16. Great result! you should be buzzing They left your donor looking in tact and great too
  17. Very nice native hair behind the transplant. Can you take a photo less zoomed in so we can see a more encompassing photo of your situation? It's great to hear how much Dr. Couto cares for the patient and I have no doubt you'll get the result you want second round.
  18. Great result mate, very nice to hear that you are feeling more confident and doing better.
  19. I would test the following: Total Test, Free Test, Estro, DHT, SHBG, prolactin. Depending on where you live this will be a bit more difficult as at least here in Toronto doctors are stiflers for giving out blood work for whatever reason, even though you pay for two of them. This is my original blood work testing below which I hope to repeat again soon before going on the Topical Dut: (before fin, and then 1 year after)
  20. • The percutaneous absorption and excretion of 1% and 5% solutions of minoxidil labeled with carbon 14 were measured in 12 adult male subjects. These subjects were randomly assigned to the 1% and 5% minoxidil testing groups, and all received nine topical applications to a bald area on the scalp, with the radioactive solutions applied on days 1 and 9. Urinary excretion of radioactivity was low, with mean values ranging from 1.6% to 3.9% of applied dose. No radioactivity could be detected in fecal samples. Recovery of radioactivity from the skin surface and from scalp and pillowcase washes was in the range of 41% to 45% of applied dose. No adverse reactions or notable abnormalities were noted in the subjects during the study. Although minoxidil is poorly absorbed through the skin, systemic doses in the range of 2.4 to 5.4 mg/day can be anticipated if application is made to entire scalp. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamadermatology/article-abstract/545803 According to this study, the systemic dose of the amount of topical minoxidil is on par to that of which is prescribed orally, 2.5-5mg. My hunch is that you will tolerate oral minoxidil at low doses well if you do tolerate topicals. The main difference of course is you will get more sulfate transfer as oral will pass through your liver quicker. So if you come off it, you should expect some shed but I don't think its drastic. When I was applying rogaine topically after 2 years, I cut it out cold turkey and over the next few months didn't experience much change. I did this primarily to try to gauge how much minoxidl was doing for me, but I had made the decision to switch over to oral anyway 2-3 months later and started on 2.5 mg initially for the first year. The side effects I receieved early was some mild diziness and maybe some fatigue, but all of that subsided for me a couple weeks in. I can tolerate 5mg well too, but recently its been hard to get a hold of 10mg generic tabs here in Toronto for whatever reason
  21. I hate to sound like a fin shill, but how do they control for the depression that hair loss inevitably causes for literally every man as they find out they're balding? I haven't honestly looked into it, but I'm sure if there was a survey that scored how men felt in the first year of discovering hair loss and how their identities were affected it would score negatively. The same would most likely be true for men who continue to bald over the years as well, of course some men learn to move on which is great, but we see examples on here alone where have men in their 50s still getting hair transplants to address their hair loss. The other issue for me is that the perceived benefit will vary for different men, a guy in his mid 20s say with mild hair loss at that point will perceive far greater benefit on it than a guy say who started it as a NW3+ and the medication hasn't done anything for him. Of course these two ppl would have a different assessment of the risk to reward for them individually. Simply saying that men become more depressed as they go on fin excludes the underlying issue for their anxiety and depression, as if it exists in a vaccum
  22. @Melvin- Moderator I'm going to ask my doctor for hormone blood work this week and then I'll start the topical dut, I was wondering what frequency will you be taking it? Wondering if I should first start once a week and reduce my fin to maybe 0.5mg ed to try to better gauge what its doing on its own, though that isn't perfect.
  23. How long have you been on dut? I agree that $2k is not enough compensation, I would want at least half, as it looks like you only got half the grafts to grow. Not all is lost for you of course, looks like you do have strong hair behind the hairline and could likely get this revised with great success.
