  1. I echo what Melvin said. If you're going to stay in NYC, @Dr Blake Bloxham does great work. Feel free to private message me if you'd like. Please keep us posted on your journey and happy growing.
  2. Haha, thanks for sharing. I've heard a LOT of stories about them
  3. As Melvin stated, you need to be on oral finasteride for at least 1 year to fully assess whether it's helping you or not. You can take up to 1mg daily as well. The chances of side effects are about 5%. Hope this helps and feel free to reach out privately if you'd like.
  4. Which topical dutasteride do you use? I'm looking to start using topical dutasteride
  5. Dutasteride is more powerful than finasteride because it works on 2 isoforms of 5-alpha reductase. Hence, the chances of side effects are higher with dutasteride than finasteride. This probably explains why docs are hesitant to prescribe it for hair loss as opposed to finasteride.
  6. I agree with what others have said. See your physician about finasteride and minoxidil and wait at least a few years for stabilization. Ask your physician if it's appropriate for you to be on oral minoxidil as well. More and more studies are coming out demonstrating its safety profile and efficacy. About 5% of people experience side effects from finasteride, which translates to roughly 1 in 20 people.
  7. Sorry to say, but definitely asymmetric and easy to spot. PM me if you have any questions or if you'd like to discuss further.
  8. 4-6 months is when you'll see early growth. It's all patient specific
  9. I think 1.5 years is best since you have fully reaped the benefits of the prior hair transplant with growth and maturation/thickening. But I think 1 year is the minimum.
  10. Yeah, it appears you have diffuse hair loss. Your hair loss looks a LOT like mine. It's good you're on minoxidil and finasteride. Are they both oral or is the minoxidil topical only? Speak to your physician, but I think you might want to try oral minoxidil. I think it would be appropriate for your to get a hair transplant.
  11. As Melvin mentioned, you should be consistent with your finasteride and minoxidil usage. If you start getting side effects from the oral finasteride, try lowering the dosage and if you're still getting side effects, switch to topical finasteride. I'm starting to recommend my patients use oral minoxidil as well since it's been shown to be very effective. Consult with your physician first. You should consult with the surgeons recommended on here: https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Consult-a-Physician/hair-transplant-surgeons.asp?sr=HRN As always, please feel free to reach out and let the community know how your journey goes.
  12. Topical finasteride won't have systemic side effects since it's not systemically absorbed, it's locally absorbed. The only side effects I've seen from topical finasteride is irritation around the scalp and that is likely due to scalp sensitivity to a component mixed in with the topical finasteride, such as as alcohol.
  13. Liposomal finasteride is better absorbed and thus more effective than non-liposomal finasteride.
  14. You have to be very careful because there is a high likelihood of cancer with this technology as well.
  15. I have been saying for the longest time that hair cloning is the best avenue for us to get to a limitless hair supply. Hopefully this announcement is actually consequential and not hype.
  16. Great question. Stay on the minoxidil and use topical finasteride as well. There are topical finasteride/minoxidil combos you can get and peer reviewed research has shown it's effective and the side effect profile is basically nil. I personally use Morr F and it works well for me. Forum members use a variety of brands and they can chime in as well.
  17. Are you on minoxidil and finasteride? That'll help give you better results.
