  1. There was me thinkng you were the bloke in your avatar ! Don't know how your hair was pre-op , but you'd never guess from your current photo's that you'd had a HT ! Nice one !
  2. All you can do is wait and see . Give it another 2 to 3 weeks and you'll find out 1 way or the other,
  3. It is ridiculous . One of those urban myths that spreads around the internet and some people take it as gospel - although I'm sure a few oddballs may have tried it .
  4. I've seen a few posts recently referencing poor transplant results after visiting Dr K . I'm not a cheerleader for Dr K , and he's a big boy so can speak for himself ( if he still has permissions to post on here ) .I had a surgery with Dr K and I'm happy with the results to the point where I'm presently considering a second pass with Dr K. What I've found irritating the last few weeks is certain posters , who should know better , referencing all these bad results . What bad results are these ? There's a poster on here whose growth has not been as he'd hoped ( to date ) , but there's still time , and hopefully things will turn around for him . If things don't improve , I'll be interested as to what discussions and outcomes are arrived at . Any other examples of potential or actual poor results ? Also need to bear in mind that there may be a number of reasons for a failed HT outside the surgeons control . It was also mentioned about the Dr having previously been a recommended surgeon on this site but no longer is . As correctly pointed out by HTsoon , the reason was partly political so I wont bore you with the details. I was asked by another forum member several months ago as to what had happened to Dr K and his absence form this and other forums . I was also interested in this myself so put the question to Dr K . Again , I wont bore you with the details , but it was a simple case of economics . The custom generated by this and other forums / associations simply wasn't worth the outlay against the returns generated . I don't know how much it costs surgeons to be associated with / recommended by forums such as this , but I'd guess it's not cheap .The financial aspect also being exacerbated by virtue of the fact of Turkey being an incredibly competitive market at the moment .
  5. Looks great Pete . As a fellow previous NW6 , glad to see you're happy with your result . Only had a quick glimpse through the video but will check it out properly when I get a chance .
  6. Of course it happens , but a bad transplant can also occur due to poor surgical skills on the part of the surgeon / technicians . There's a well known Turkish surgeeon on here who got greedy and compromised quality for profit , and it's quite likely he'll never get his reputation back . These are the kind of surgeons who should be exposed . On the flipside , it's also true that people can kill a surgeons reputation due to unrealistic expectations. I've seen cases wher the result looks solid to me , and others , but the patient just doesn't see it . Another reason why a transplant can fail is due to patient physiology . It's something at present that neither the surgeon nor the patient can predict . It's not the surgeons fault and it's not the patients fault . It's an issue that has not really been addressed , and it's a topic I like to see more research on . It can be that the grafts just don't take from the off , or can even be a good transplant initially but for some reason ( possibly due to poor blood supply ) the density decreases after a year or more .
  7. I'm around 5 weeks ahead of you and I started feeling a bit twitchy around the 8 month mark . I thought to myself that I'm pretty much where I'm going to be . Good news is the hair seems to have kicked in a bit the last 2 weeks . Whether that's maturation or new grafts I honestly don't know . I'm a lightweight compared to you fella's - I'm a strictly lager and cider kinda bloke !
  8. Cheers Louis - yep , lots of different opinions on the periods required to excercise for maximum laxity.
  9. Hey ontop , Thanks for the input . Yes , it's a bit of a conundrum really as we wont know how it works out until the deed is done . Did have a brief chat with Dr K after the surgery and he intimated I should have at least 2k plus grafts to go at . Hopefully the second pass will be my last , but if need be would consider a 3rd surgery ( including BHT if necessary ). If the chance of scar stretch wasn't a concern , I'd go with FUSS in a heartbeat. Unfortunately , like you say , you just can't predict how it will turn out. I will seek out other opinions and see what comes back. Thanks again !
  10. The scar from my initial surgery is really very good . I reckon I could get away with a no.2 cut if I tried it . A slight concern over doing FUSS again is if the scar stretched after a second session . At the time I did the HT ( last December ) the Dr said my laxity wasn't great , so I may not even have an option to go FUSS . The crown to be addressed is around 75 cm2 , so hoping around 3k grafts are available to get decent coverage .
  11. All you can do at the moment is wait it out for the 12 month result and see how it is then .Some people are late growers , so really hope this kicks in for you .
  12. i may do , but want to keep all options open . Still hoping to get 3000 plus grafts for the 2nd pass , and if FUSS is likely to be the optimal solution , laxity permitting , that may be the best way to go.
  13. Presently considering a second pass to address my crown following my first procedure last December . The scar can take a fairly long period to fully heal after the procedure ( apparently the tensile strength of a wound reaches about 70% at 6 months ) I'm around 9 months post op , so would think it would now be safe to start scalp laxity excercises ? I'd assume there would be little chance of any scar stretch by this stage ?
  14. Did they all say you had limited donor ? I'm guessing you had an online consult , so it may turn out better news when you have the actal physical consult . I'd feel comfortable with any of the surgeons you mention. I had my HT with Dr K and I'm pleased with the result to date , although I need a second pass to address the crown . Your'e right though , if you do have a limited donor , you need to be extra cautious . If you're in the UK , why don't you arrange consultations with some UK surgeons to get a better idea on your donor ?
  15. Interesting on the Tio Nacho shampoo . I don't take Amazon reviews seriously anymore ( If I ever did ). Reading the comments sections , they just come across as less than beleivable . Not just this product , plenty of others as well.
  16. Your information on Dr K is not quite correct . He does the extractions and incisions , but his technicians do the graft placement . This is pretty much par the course for most surgeons , with a very limited number doing the graft placement also . As far as responses from ex-patients , I got similar none responses , but I wouldn't read too much into that .
  17. Looks great . How many gafts were placed over the two procedures ?
  18. tl2 - We all make mistakes in life , so as long as you learn from it you wont make the same mistake again. Although you took a big financial hit on it , the good news is that you had a very minor HT , so things could have been so much worse had it been a large procedure that seriously diminished your donor . Spend as much time as possible researching surgeons and reviews . As far as the ARTAS device is concerned , I'd be amazed if the manufacturers don't insist on a training programme to any organisation that purchases it .
  19. Eh ? What a bizarre statement / point of view !
  20. You'll be fine . You're currently in the post op paranoia stage , which may last for a good few months !
  21. Highly unlikely . Some Dr's say to sleep incline the first few days post op . others say to sleep as normal .Personally , I slept as normal . If the hairs that were shed were longer , that would likely be normal shedding . If you do lose a transplant post op , it will also bleed . Was there any bleeding on the scalp ?
  22. We're a nice and polite bunch on here for the most part . As to your question , there is virtually zero chance of any damage being done . Not sure why you think there would be .
  23. I think the no. of posters responding negatively to your posts tells its own story . To give you the benefit of the doubt , It may be a lost in translation issue , but your posts come across as harsh and negative . I've not seen any of your surgery results posted on the forum , but you're setting yourself up for a fall with your current posting style , if and when you do so .
