  1. All these clinics produce both good and bad results. No one knocks it out of the park every time.
  2. I don't know about "more complex" but yes, this is the process that would most likely damage the follicles resulting in transection and lost grafts. I feel this is a very weak link in the HT industry at the moment. A lot of the time a HT will still turn out fine but because the technicians are skilled and take their time. But then again I have read many posts with sub-par results or different results of different sides of the head because one technician was better than the other etc. Even if the result is great you have no idea how many grafts were lost at the hands of a less skilled technician when they perform the extractions. From what I've read Lorenzo with with a very skilled person, but that can change. You might for instance get a new technician who is on her/his 3rd transplant and still learning. You just dont know before the operation. Unless you ask. Unless you talk to the doctor in your consultation and have him tell you exactly who will be working on you, how long they have been there and then go check results of other patients that have worked with that technician. Seriously, if they are doing half the job they should be known, and considered an important part of a hair transplant when considering a doctor. Ok, thats my rant for the day. (ha) Good post.
  3. Good thinking. Not even the best doctor can guarantee a great strip scar. If your head looks good shaved you are going to be fine in the long run without a HT. And you'll save a LOT of money.
  4. Extraction is not smart. Potentially in train wreck-territory. And to be honest the hairline is not well planned at all. If the OP has a history of NW5-6 in his family history the doctor should have considered this. He should have kept his natural hairline and just worked on filling it in. The OP deserves a full refund and all his follicles back.
  5. Sounds like the surgery was a nice experience. I do feel that this is a very aggressively low new hairline. I hope the density will match your normal hairline. Please keep us posted every few months with new pictures. Happy growing.
  6. Hey guys, I saw this picture in another post discussing something completely different and thought "Hey, wait. Why doesn't someone try this on purpose with a virgin scalp?" Why not leave a strip sized piece of untouched scalp when doing FUE on the off chance that the person might need the area for FUT in the future? This would make it much easier to go for FUE in the first place in an attempt to avoid a strip scar. Then down the road, if needed, they could always go strip. Sounds pretty simple. What do you guys think?
  7. I agree with Spanker. Without meds it might not work out too well in the long run. I don't this this is true.
  8. How old are you? what kind of hairloss is in your family history?
  9. Ah. Good to know. Sorry about that. About your hairline. It might be a "little" low. I'm sure you could get something near that though. Maybe with a big first pass and then a touch up a year later. But yea, like the others said don't go beard hair. You want to find a Dr. who specializes in FUE and knocks out great results consistently.
  10. Hi squiggle, When you mention folliclitis, do you mean pimples on your scalp, or another symptom? About the HT, Looks pretty good. But yea, a touch up would probably do you right. Can I ask if your hairlines looks 100% natural in real life? Its a bit hard to tell from the photos. Do you notice people looking at it strangely at times or never? Thanks.
  11. Nice change. To be fair it would be good to see his hair combed back cleanly. In these after photos there is some very selective coverage happening. I know. Thats how I wear my hair His donor does look good still though. Pretty nice.
  12. You should seriously take your time and go to a few other doctors for consultation. Don't go for the first doctor that is charming and has nice pictures on his site. If he was okay with the idea of using beard hairs on with your donor and situation I would walk away. Thats a red flag. Take your time. There is no rush. In a year you'll know 100 times more about exactly what will be good for you.
  13. ok. Then I would suggest you stay on propecia and wait a good year. Read up on this site about all the different options and what a HT can and can't do. In a year or so you'll be ready if your still interested. You'll know where to go and exactly what you want. I always do that with tattoos. I want something then wait a year.
  14. In my opinion it is too young. You might be fine with yourself in a few years. Have you ever tried shaving your head to see how it looks?
  15. Hi ralphnyc, It is a sort of odd design but Im sure it'll be a good start to your HT journey. I would have gone for around 3000 to get the whole frontal third area and made the side and top connect a bit more smoothly but again you can hit that up in the next round in a year or 2. Good luck growing.
  16. Here is a recent good FUE result with no strip scar. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/173759-2-781-grafts-dr-diep-11.html There are great FUE results and great FUT results out there. FUT might get you a bit better yield but you are contending with a scar that may or may not become problematic. Also down time is longer. With FUE youll be fine in a month. You have thick hair. I think you can get away with FUE from a great doctor like Lorenzo. 2500 grafts.
  17. Yea. upload some good photos. That'll help. Also you might only have temporary shock loss and that would be the reason for the thinning. That means it would come back again. Also Propecia will really help you keep what you have. might be worth considering. keep checking here. there is a lot to learn and you still have options. Hang in there.
  18. Yea will all the recent talk about FUE donor damage this is a disappointment. Let us know what you find out.
  19. This is just wrong. All recommended doctors should be obligated to tell a patient the full story about hair loss and MPB progression. Also should be obligated to discuss donor numbers etc. etc. That being said, at 3 months you are still early and in the "ugly duckling" stage. Your hair should look a LOT better in 4 months or so. This is part of the process of the new growth. One thing I would say is to get on propecia asap. Itll help you hold on to your hair for years longer and thicken up what you have. About the overall situation you could go see a therapist. Find a nice one. they are good to talk to and might help you relax and sleep better. Again you will be looking better in a few months. Hang in there.
  20. A HT is such a delicate balancing act up front. See those hairs on the right side. Thin and lighter. Thats how your real hair would be if you had a perfect natural hairline. This is a glitch in the whole idea of a HT in my opinion. If that font hairline is even a bit unnatural looking or contains thick donor hair (even singles), A normal person might feel something is "not quite right". They might not know its a HT but might get a sense of something being a bit "off". I wonder if your hairline seems super straight because you lost hair behind it? Or maybe its just not a home run hairline. Totally fixable I think but more procedures etc.
  21. I agree with the rest of the guys here. Do what you can now and shave your head when you need to. It might not look perfect but a HT on you wouldnt look perfect either and youll save yourself some serious regrets. You will be 35-40-50-60 one day, and will be happy you just accepted yourself for who you are and moved on.
