  1. A 32-year-old liked his short hairstyle. However, the progressive thinning atop his scalp became hard to ignore despite his near-shaven look. He was skeptical of finasteride and preferred to address his hair loss with a follicular unit extraction (FUE) procedure with Dr. Carlos Wesley (NYC). Using a 0.8mm motorized punch, 2331 grafts were harvested and stored in the patient's platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and ACell prior to subsequent implantation. Results can be seen before and postoperative day #1.
  2. This 31-year-old had grown frustrated by the progressive thinning of the hair throughout the frontal half of his scalp. A 2215 micro graft procedure with Dr. Carlos Wesley helped fill in not only his hairline, but also regions of future loss within the patient's mid scalp region. His results can be seen approximately 16 months after his follicular unit transplantation (FUT) procedure in which both platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and ACell were used as storage solution.
  3. Please be advised that Dr. Wesley’s schedule in Los Angeles on May 11th has been completely filled. If you are interested in a consultation with Dr. Wesley, your name can be put on a waiting list or held for a future regional consult in LA by calling Barbara at 844-745-6362 or 844-PILOFOCUS. Dr. Wesley's previous surgical patients living in the Los Angeles area can still arrange for a brief post-op follow-up appointment.
  4. A 30-year-old male wanted to better conceal his thinning scalp. However, he was somewhat averse to surgery and was a borderline surgical candidate due to the density and hair caliber within his donor area. He, therefore, underwent a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and ACell Matristem mesotherapy procedure followed by skin micro pigmentation (SMP) in our office. His transformation can be viewed in the video below.
  5. Dr. Carlos K. Wesley was quoted today in the New York Times in an article about new procedures and drugs that target women's hair loss. Please read the article here.
  6. Dr. Carlos K. Wesley will be making his annual visit to Los Angeles on Monday May 11th, 2015 at which time he will be conducting in-person consultations. He will be seeing patients at 515 South Flower Street (36th Floor) (across from Maguire Gardens and the Los Angeles Public Library). For this one day in May, Dr. Wesley will be able to answer your specific questions through a careful examination of your hair characteristics as well as a review of your medical history. As space is limited, please contact Dr. Wesley's Office Manager, Barbara, at 844-745-6362 to arrange for a 45-minute consultation. Please note, the physician, not a "consultant" or a salesperson, will be meeting with you and answering your specific questions directly. In addition to discussing the nature of the procedure, Dr. Wesley will determine whether or not you are a candidate and the surgical fee for the size of the session he anticipates you can have. To view images of Dr. Wesley's various patients, please view here.
  7. Many patients have inquired about the current status of development for the piloscopic surgical technique. Therefore, Dr. Wesley wanted to share a link from his recent presentation delivered at the 2015 American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Meeting that provides both an overview and an update. We hope that you find this helpful.
  8. A 28-year-old patient wanted to "erase" the donor scar from a previous FUT session that was previously performed at a different clinic. Using a 0.75mm motorized FUE punch, Dr. Carlos K. Wesley (NYC) transplanted nearly 300 grafts into the scar which can be viewed 10 months after the procedure.
  9. This 46-year-old woman was bothered by the progressive thinning in her hairline and temples. A treatment at the office of Dr. Carlos K. Wesley (NYC) involving 1367 grafts as well as PRP and ACell therapy yielded results as early as 3 months postoperatively. Here, the patient can be seen 6 months after her FUT procedure.

  11. Dr. Wesley will be in Boston on Friday April 3rd, for his yearly visit, to meet with patients and to conduct initial consultations. Please call Dr. Wesley's appointment secretary, Barbara at 844-745-6362 to schedule your consultation or email her at info@drcarloswesley.com
  12. All of the pictures posted are of the same patient, just at different angles. (look at his eyebrows in all of the pictures). In two of the before pictures, the lighting makes the patient's hair look lighter than it actually is in person. I hope this answers all of the questions above. Billena
  13. Over 500 cosmetic surgery professionals convened in New Orleans, Jan. 14-17 for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery’s (AACS) 31st Annual Scientific Meeting. Attendees participated in four days of in-depth, cutting-edge programming, and networking events. Dr. Carlos K. Wesley (NYC) was featured on the first day of the conference in the Technology Series entitled, "Technology: Advancements in Hair Restoration". Just as with his 2013 ISHRS Conference presentation in San Francisco, Dr. Wesley plans to make his entire presentation available to the general public via a video posting in the near future.
  14. A 29-year-old patient came to our office wanting to lower his hairline and maintain a very short hairstyle. He can be seen before and after a 1352 graft FUE session with Dr. Carlos Wesley in NYC. A 0.8mm FUE punch was used with platelet rich plasma (PRP) and ACell serving as the graft storage solution during the procedure.

  16. A 46-year-old woman sought more density in her thinning recessions within her hairline. In her 1623-micrograft session of follicular unit transplantation (FUT) with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in New York City, her left side received a slightly greater emphasis due to its slightly more significant thinning. Even by the fifth (5th) month her early growth is apparent. This accelerated growth may be the result from the storage solution used at Dr. Wesley's facility. The combination of platelet right plasma (PRP) and ACell as a hair follicle storage solution has often resulted in earlier growth for patients.
  17. Thank you for your comments. Regarding the specific medical questions, I will let Dr. Wesley respond to those this week. In response to requests for examples of male patients treated with scalp injections of platelet rich plasma (PRP), we are posting results from a previous male patient in his 30s. Bothered by the thinning in his crown, his response to PRP treatment can be seen at various stages throughout his recovery. Please note that not all patients can anticipate such benefit. Just as with surgical hair restoration, proper patient selection for PRP treatment is very important.
  18. Dr. Wesley has been invited as a featured speaker at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Conference. This 31st Annual Scientific Meeting entitled "Technological Advancements in Cosmetic Surgery" will showcase some of the world's top surgeons with sub-specialties ranging from Rhinoplasty to Liposuction. The presentation will take place on January 14th, 2015 in New Orleans, LA and a preliminary schedule of presentations can viewed [https://c.ymcdn.com/sites/cosmeticsurgery.site-ym.com/resource/resmgr/Annual_Meeting_2015/AACS_Program.pdf]. Dr. Wesley has been invited to present on the Technology panel, "Advancements in Hair Restoration." Specifically, the presentation is to focus on the novel sub dermal approach to intact hair follicle harvesting (piloscopy []Recent Advancements in field of Hair Restoration Surgery) that has demonstrated a 45% improved survival rate over traditional follicular unit extraction (FUE) []Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) in NYC - By Dr. Carlos K. Wesley, MD. These findings are statistically significant. As the Founder and CEO of Pilofocus [http://www.pilofocus.com/company-profile.html], a surgical device company dedicated to the development of this hair follicle harvesting technology, Dr. Wesley has presented the original findings from piloscopy []Pilofocus | Scarless Hair Transplantation Surgery - By Dr. Carlos K. Wesley, MD at the International Society of Hair Restoration [http://www.ishrs.org] (ISHRS) Conference in 2013. This presentation, however, will include updated information regarding not only findings in the donor and recipient areas, but also the experiences of patients who have undergone this surgical procedure.
  19. This 28-year-old female came to our office fed up with her progressive and distressing hair loss. She was referred to our office by an endocrinologist. After examination with a magnified folliscope, Dr. Wesley determined that she may be a good candidate for treatment with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and ACell. She returned just over five (5) months after her treatment for follow-up evaluation. Her results can be viewed below:
  20. Thank you for your comments, bismarck. We should emphasize that shampooing of the donor area can be performed on postoperative day 1 for both our FUE and FUT cases. In this particular case, his donor on postoperative day 1 status post FUE can be seen.
  21. Thank you for your comments, PupDaddy! We have attached a few images of the pattern designed by Dr. Wesley. In this case, he used a number of double follicular units (DFUs) that are tucked away from the hairline in order to generate a backdrop of healthy density within the surrounding fine micrografts.
  22. A 46-year-old man came to Dr. Carlos K. Wesley's surgical center in order to return the frontal hair fullness that he once had. A 2343-graft session to the frontal half of his scalp can be viewed before and 12 months later. One important aspect of achieving his results was the use of DFUs (double follicular units) as well as the combined use of PRP and ACell as storage solutions while the grafts were incubating out of the body.
  23. This 49-year-old gentleman wanted to finally cover the balding crown that had been bothering him for many years. A 2284-graft session by Dr. Wesley allowed for coverage over this large surface area. ACell and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) were used as storage media. The patient returned 10 months after his follicular unit transplantation procedure.
  24. This 40-year-old man really wanted to reverse his "hair fortune" and add density atop his head. His concern was a natural appearance - even if it meant going "zero to sixty" (as a patient coined when very little recipient hair initially exists). A 2605-graft session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in NYC helped frame his face with a natural-appearing hairline as seen before and 17 months after his procedure.
