Hi. I'm 12 days post-op FUE Hair transplant and I'm thinking to start PRP sessions to stimulate hair growth on the transplanted and thinning areas. Few questions comes in mind while I'm thinking about this and it's listed below. 1. Can I start PRP session 14 days post operation? 2. What is the minimum number of days/weeks before each PRP session? 3. How many PRP sessions do I need to make sure its effectiveness? Another side question regarding post-op FUE HT is this -- when can I start using a regular shampoo and not a baby shampoo after the transplant? I was using Avalon Organics Biotin + B-complex shampoo and conditioner before my HT and it's actually a really mild shampoo(almost the same as the baby shampoo), so I was thinking if I can replace the baby shampoo with this and probably help a little bit in stimulating hair growth. Any answers or suggestions are welcome. Thank you guys

I've decided to give Nizoral a shot especially since I actually occasionally get a good amount of dandruff / itchy scalp. Thinking it can help on both hair loss + general comfort front. I found this one on Amazon - it states 1% Ketoconazole. From anyone's personal experience has this been helpful and do you use it 2x a week? If there are other brands please let me know. I don't dye my hair, etc https://www.amazon.com/Nizoral-Anti-Dandruff-Shampoo-Ketoconazole-Dandruff/dp/B0000Y3CRY/ref=asc_df_B0000Y3CRY/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312128069938&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15053025502169565335&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9060351&hvtargid=pla-581290570016&psc=1 Also, I read some reviews from Amazon that it actually caused or accelerated hair loss. I'm not sure if these are just false claims. I'm trying to see a dermatologist but can't get an appointment under my insurance for almost 2 months. Thanks everyone!

I’ve always debated this and not sure which is the correct stance. When I have shorter hair it’s much easier to skip washing a day, but now that I’ve grown my hair out (I went from after surgery to no haircut in six months), I would prefer to wash it every day.Part of me thinks if DHT builds up on the scalp washing it every day would be a good thing? Although I see many people with no hair loss only wash their hair twice a week. I do use essential oil’s in a spray bottle on my hair after every wash so drying out my hair does not seem to be an issue. Although one thing I hate with lighter hair like myself is when your hair is long and wet it does seem to clump together and the weight of the hair pulls down resulting in showing more scalp but when my hair is dry the density looks near 100%.

Hey Guys, So it's fairly common knowledge that for the first few weeks you are to wash with baby shampoo and not directly under the shower head, but what about after? What are your guys thoughts when did most of you return to showering normal? For me it was around the 3rd week. Can Shampooing My Hair After A Hair Transplant Effect The Growth?

Have you guys used Revivogen? It appears to be less harsh that Nizoral, but also quite expensive. Anyways just wanted to get some input for those who have used it before, if it's worth buying. Revivogen Scalp Therapy For Hair Loss

Hi, This is my first post on the forum, I am 38 yo and slowly losing my hair but nothing major just yet. I am considering a HT but not at the moment so was looking a combination of non surgical treatments like minoxidil and shampoo etc. Can anyone recommend a combination for me that will slow the loss down or stop it until i get the HT? I have been offered Finasteride but not comfortable with taking that kind of medication so would like to try a combo of minoxidil, shampoos, saw palmetto etc. If anyone has had any success with a combination i would be greatful to hear more Thanks, Pt

Hi everyone. First post on the forum, glad to be here. Firstly apologies, no doubt my below question will have been asked previously. I'm currently on day 13 post op FUE after 2500 grafts on my frontal zone. Tomorrow (day 14 post op) I will be shampooing my recipient area for the first time, as per the instructions from my surgery. I still have quite a few scabs, and was wondering if it's okay to shampoo them and how to go about it. I don't want to damage or upset anything up there. I plan on using baby shampoo for the next couple of weeks. I look forward to your advice, best regards J

Hi Guys, Recently I started using Nioxin 2 shampoo based on my stylist's recommendation. I have been on their website and done a little bit of internet research on it and I found out that they don't make any claims for regrowing hair per say, but indirectly through their cleansing mechanism. I have used it for about 3 weeks now and my experience with it has been pretty good so far. It leaves the scalp with a very fresh feel, kind of how mint feels in your mouth . I am using it 3 times weekly. While reading I also came across the Nizoral shampoo which contains ketoconazole which is proven to be effective against alopecia. However the 2% solution leaves the hair dry and should only be used only 2 times weekly. I wanted to get your opinion on how your experience has been with the Nioxin shampoo ? And which do you feel is the better of two ? Should I switch to Nizoral for the next one and which one (1% or 2%) to use? Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Hey guys. I just wanted to share this exciting little discovery with any of you suffering from dandruff/dry scalp/dermatitis/etc. I've had a problem with it since I was a kid (dermatitis and dry scalp, specifically) and have never found anything that would really work. I tried all the dandruff shampoos over the past 20 years and have never had much success. My scalp has even gotten so bad at times that it gets all red and scabby and super itchy, which is not only painful, but can be quite embarrassing as well. Oddly enough, after my HT several months ago and buzzing my head completely, it all stopped (I assume because the hair was so short and the scalp was able to breathe? I have no idea). But once my hair started growing back in, the flaky scalp/dandruff started back up at full force. I tried coconut oil, which helped a bit with keeping the scalp moisturized, but the flakes would pick back up a couple days later. (Not to mention, the oil stays in your hair for a bit and looks really shiny - which you may or may not care for.) Anyway.... Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is proving to be my miracle cure. At first, I simply applied the vinegar directly to my scalp to really give my scalp an aggressive cleansing. Since then, I have added the vinegar to my regular shampoo at about a 1:1 ratio and use it about every other day. So far, it has stopped the flakes and itchiness completely.... 3 weeks and counting. Hallelujah. Side note: Try to followup with something in your hair that will mask that vinegar smell so people don't smell the ACV when you walk by. It's not the most attractive scent out there. (Speaking from personal experience....) Would love to hear if anyone else has success with this.

A common postoperative concern that my patients express is, "when can I safely shampoo my hair?" Our patients always return to our office the morning following their procedure. During this visit, we remove the protective bandage and perform the first hairwash. It also allows for any fine adjustment of follicle placement. The answer to "when" often depends on the characteristics of the follicles during graft placement (i.e. if the grafts are "slippery" or if the placement of a neighboring graft alters the depth of a nearby graft). Perhaps one of the most important characteristics is follicle root depth. The mean depth of a scalp hair follicle is 4.16mm. Our patients are generally able to gently wash their own scalp (including the grafts) on postoperative day 3 or 4. When we note particularly long grafts (as seen below), patients may safely perform a gentle shampoo slightly earlier (days 2 or 3). It is important to realize that these determinations are made by the physician performing the surgery as they are based on intraoperative findings. Fortunately, I believe all of the recommended physicians on this network are involved in all three phases of the procedure (pre-op, intra-op, and post-op). So, be sure to get your advice from them after the procedure. This patient had grafts over 5mm in depth. His pattern is seen day one postoperatively. He was able to perform a gentle hairwash on day 3 as a result of his hair characteristics.

Hello all, I've been using Regaine and Revivogen combination with very good results for some time now. Lately in the past 2 weeks I decided to add (greedy man) an anti hairloss shampoo called seba med in the mix to see if it gives something more. The problem is that I have noticed increased hairloss (medium to small hairs fall) which got me to look maybe one month before or more. I noticed also that this fits the period where I started this shampoo. Could the shampoo caused this hairloss??? It works with caffeine and gingo miloba which claims it increases the blood flow around the follicles.. It says do not leave no more than 2 minutes and I have observed this instruction. Maybe it spoils the minoxodil-revivogen combination? What do you guys believe? I am thinking to stop this. P.S. At the same period i stopped taking vitamins for hair, just to give my liver a rest. Dont know if this relates.

Hi, New guy here, and 29yrs old. I have been losing hair for years but I had such a thick head of hair that I didn't really notice until maybe 8 months ago. I just assumed it was all part of the daily 100 or so that everyone loses. It sucks and my hair line has receded maybe a little under an inch and all the hairs on my head seem to have become flimsy and each strand is thinner. Although, I am only losing hair from the top. I am considering cutting up Proscar..but hearing about the side effects is freaking me out. I'd be happy just to keep what hair I have left if I can avoid the possible horrors of finasteride! Is there a shampoo or combination of topicals that will allow me to stop losing what I have left? I don't need regrowth necessarily but it would be a plus. Proscar is a last resort for me but..I heard that the earlier I start something, the better. Thank you all. I'm sure you have fielded this type of question before so thanks for answering again.

I found this site when researching transplant, and it's clear that I am way too chicken (and stingy) to do that at this point. Someone at a salon once recommended Nioxin shampoo, so I bought a huge jug and used it mostly consistently until it was gone with no discernible result. I know myself well enough to limit what I do to a once-a-day shampoo, because that is what I am most likely to do consistently. So, forum members, what is your recommendation for a once-a-day shampoo? While I am new here, I am not new to forums. I will read up on other posts but I would like to hear the latest from you guys that use it now. What product should I try, and why?
