  1. A 32-year-old female visited the office of Dr. Carlos K. Wesley with the desire to fill in her hairline. He performed a 1753 FU session and she returned approximately two years later for follow up images.
  2. The list of speakers at the upcoming International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery Conference in San Francisco has been announced. The meeting takes place next week and should reveal quite a bit of new and interesting information regarding the various treatments (both medical and surgical) for hair loss. The attached program has been divided into three separate parts due to the size of the file. ISHRS_San Fran (1).pdf ISHRS_San Fran (2).pdf ISHRS_San Fran (3).pdf
  3. One of the advantages of the relatively thin grafts produced by follicular unit extraction (FUE) as compared to their strip harvest counterparts is that they can be more easily placed into recipient sites that are created in a more dense pattern. Here, Dr. Carlos Wesley describes this in a patient who desired a hairline advancement using FUE.
  4. This 40-year-old received 2460 grafts to address his receding hairline. His session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley (NYC) included a number of DFUs (double-follicular units) tucked away behind his new hairline to provide more coverage and an improved facial framing. He returned with a renewed self confidence about 9 and a half months later to display his new hairstyle!
  5. This 35-year-old African-American male sought treatment for his rapidly-thinning scalp. He underwent a 2200-graft FUT session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in NYC. The patient returned to the office about 11 months later wearing the same short hairstyle.
  6. A 48-year-old man with Type VI MPB underwent a session to the frontal half and mid scalp involving 4358 grafts. The accompanying video montage illustrates his transformation from before, during and about one year following the follicular unit transplantation (FUT) approach with Dr. Wesley.
  7. This 23-year-old athlete desired two things: 1) to add density throughout the frontal half of his scalp, and 2) to be able to continue to wear his hair at a very short length. These images and video show this patient's progress from follicular unit extraction (FUE) at both the 1-week recovery phase and the 7-month early growth stage.
  8. Here is a 42-year-old man who wanted the fullness of his hairline back. The results of a 2326-graft follicular unit transplantation (FUT) session with Dr. Wesley can be seen at 11 months after his surgery. The patient is ecstatic.

  12. Patients frequently ask about the short-term as well as long-term look of the back of their head after undergoing FUE. So, here are examples of various patients from our practice who have undergone follicular unit extraction (FUE). This montage of pictures and video clips of patients from their 20s to 50s illustrates the process of hair regrowth in the donor area from which the transplanted hair follicles are taken. Please note, this approach to surgical hair restoration differs from the scarless surgical approach developed by Dr. Wesley. And, yes. He will provide an update on the progress of instrumentation within the next few weeks.
  13. For the video demonstrating the trichophytic closure surgical technique for FUT above, we've now included a password: trichophytic. Please use this password if you'd like to view the footage in the future. Patients commented that it "was a bit too much" when they accidentally came across it while perusing other less graphic before/after videos from our practice
  14. Dr. Carlos K. Wesley, served as the primary author on Hair Transplantation in the 7th Edition of the http://www.amazon.com/Smiths-Plastic-Surgery-PLASTIC-SURGERY/dp/1451109555/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top textbook. The release date has been announced: September 9, 2013. This textbook enjoys a rich history in Plastic Surgery and is the only remaining single-volume text that attempts to cover the entire field in a comprehensive manner. Despite the availability of competing content on the internet, this text has long been considered the premier reference for plastic surgery residents and practitioners. Dr. Wesley approached it with the following in mind: What does a plastic surgery resident or young plastic surgeon need to know about hair restoration in order to: 1.take a written exam; 2. appreciate the commitment that good hair restoration requires; 3. be able to refer patients appropriately and; 4. be generally well-educated? The comprehensive hair transplantation chapter covers all aspects of the procedure: preoperative planning, anesthesia, donor harvest and closure, recipient site planning and execution, eyebrow transplantation, donor scar revisions, camouflaging scars from facelifts and brow lifts, correction of "pluggy" transplants, and the future of innovations in surgical hair restoration. -- Carlos K. Wesley, M.D. 710 Park Avenue New York, NY 10021 www.drcarloswesley.com
  15. Sure! Here's an update on the patient (including recent video footage and overhead images)... He also recently composed a personal testimonial describing his experience with Dr. Wesley's office in detail...
  16. Thank you for your comments! Here is an image of the patient's resultant donor scar after FUT with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley
  17. All available appointments have been filled at this time. However, Dr. Wesley will likely return to the Los Angeles area the following year. Thank you!
  18. Thanks! For those who can't see video, I have attached before/after images of this patient (including his donor scar at 9 months) after FUT with Dr. Wesley.
  19. I am writing to let you know that Dr. Wesley will be conducting in-person consultations in Los Angeles this month. On Monday, June 17th, he will be seeing patients at an office located near Downtown Los Angeles. Please note, the physician, not a consultant or a salesperson, will be meeting with you and answering your specific questions directly. In addition to discussing the nature of the procedure (as well as advancements on the horizon), Dr. Wesley will determine whether or not you are a candidate and the size of the session he anticipates you can have. As spaces are limited, please contact Loretta, the appointment secretary, at 212-249-9393 or email drwesley.office@gmail.com to arrange for a 45-minute consultation. To view images of Dr. Wesley's various patients, please view here.
  20. This 28-year old patient was most concerned with a natural appearance after surgical hair restoration. He can be seen before and nine months after a 2276 graft session with Dr. Wesley. His donor scar can also be seen in this video montage.
  21. All available appointments have been filled at this time. However, Dr. Wesley will likely return to the Boston area the following year. Thank you!
  22. This 55 year-old man received 1709 grafts to the frontal third of his scalp. He returned after 11 months to say "hello" to Dr. Wesley and his staff. In general, salt and pepper hair coloration enables greater coverage with a smaller number of grafts as compared with a different hair color that contrasts sharply with the color of a patient's scalp.
  23. All mid-day and afternoon appointments have already been filled for this date. There is one remaining appointment in the morning schedule. Dr. Wesley's appointment secretary, Loretta, may be reached at 212-249-9393.
