  1. I remember that so well and it annoyed me a hell of a lot. It is good that the industry is getting more interest and publicity but it was very misleading. I am sure the transplant has made a big difference in Jason's life but I would feel uncomfortable going in front of millions of viewers knowing he was wearing a load of concealer.
  2. It is not necessarily the clinic's fault as that maybe all the patient has sent but I have to agree with Rootz on this. The size of the area with 2800 grafts will not give a full head of hair. The lighting, angles and blurry pictures give the impression it is denser in the front hairline area than it actually is. The coverage will look full but will additionally look fuller when the hair pinned back is unpinned and falls forward naturally over the transplanted hair. Very good for 7 months though.
  3. Johnyg, The problem with chain clinics is knowing which surgeon is going to perform your surgery. If it is Dr Ball, then try reading across the forums to contact some of his patient. I have not really seen much of his work and don't know a lot about him. He has in the last few days started to post some of his work on here, so the moderators might be able to tell you more about him. Alternatively, there are lots of top surgeons on here which you may want to consider also if you do more research.
  4. Dr Feriduni is excellent at strip too but because he does larger fue, this seems to be forgotten about . Dr Feriduni will have the techs playing a large part in FUE which is not a problem as his high quality consistent results speak for themselves but just making you aware. I still think this is one key reason why some clinics are in a position to achieve better results with larger FUE. I am certain with Dr Konior's ability, his FUE would be excellent although I would like him to post more of his work. Currently as you will know, Dr F has a lot more documented cases of FUE. With Dr K, he performs every part of the surgery which is quite rare in hair restoration so you get his full attention at all times. They are both outstanding surgeons, you will not go wrong with either and you should get a great result. If I was picking on absolute results based on what you have stated for picking Dr K for FUT or Dr F for FUE, I would go with Dr K FUT but that is just my opinion.
  5. People on other forums say dismissive things like HRN is "just an advertising site" etc. but I think comments like this miss the whole point. Bismarck, I have read all the hair forums and I will confidently say that this is one of the best forums around by a long stretch.
  6. Or just have both to maximise the amount of hair you can obtain.
  7. That is not entirely true. I would say sessions up to 3000 in one sitting have proven to be a success by a limited number of doctors. Dr Lorenzo is an exception and nicknamed the robot but even other surgeons I think of highly doing larger session fue have techs do a lot of the work which in states in the USA is illegal. But above that in onc session, there is yet to be a clinic who can consistently push out sized sessions of 3500/4000+ by FUE. That is not to say it cannot be done in the future as the procedure evolves even more. There is a difference between the large and mega session.
  8. Recovery time has always been better for fue and scarring will nearly always be better with a GOOD fue surgeon. I emphasise good as with a bad one, you can end up being far worse off than having the dreaded "smiley face" as some people refer to . IF strip scars for everyone after one procedure or several turned out pencil thin for every time, there would be some argument to this but it is clearer to me now they don't. I have just had shoulders surgery and at first the closure was good but 7 weeks later I have a stretched 2 inch scar on my shoulder. Scarring will be worse for FUE if large punches are used and if you end up having too many grafts taken (made even worse if the surgeon does not formulate the pattern correctly), there is a higher chance you would look thin in the back whereas strip is one line and if it turns out good, then on that scenario a linear scar would be better. I have poor fue scaring from a rubbish clinic, large punch and clustered together. Had I seen a good surgeon - it would not have happened. Also donor area with low density could be a problem too. Overall though I agree with you. I don't like the clinics who over exploit the idea and use it as hard sell but fail to produce and demonstrate consistently a high standard of results. The good surgeons who I think do great FUE don't even use this as a selling point and let their work do the talking which is how it should be. One thing I have noticed as that when people have FUE, they never shave down to the bone. Now when people want a strip scar repaired, pictures are always shown shaved to a zero. I am interested to see cases where patients have had a large proportion of their donor taken via fue and shaved down to the bone to see the scarring. People often make this comment you can shave down and buzz your hair with fue if you lose the battle with baldness, but this is not entirely true.
  9. No I get it Madman. The forum is here to help obtain valid information and debate is part of it.
  10. You trying to start a war on here - be prepared for a backlash haha.
  11. Have you narrowed this search down solely based on money?
  12. n2se5, I don't use Minoxidil but I may do one day down the line in the future. Most people I think use 5% if they do use it. Maybe someone else who uses it regularly can comment and help.
  13. I agree with the bottom statement but not the first one. He is implying he has a 1 to 2 percent transection rate and for a larger session size I am not so sure.
  14. I agree with you about the use of beard hair Liamw. I wouldn't want to use beard hair either for the same reason. If you have shave your hair to that low grade, you will probably see the scars from FUE too. I would FUE into the scar in my opinion.
  15. No this is why so many people cut up Proscar as its exactly to same as Propecia. A lot of forum members do this.
  16. Proscar (5mg) is made by Merck who make Propecia (1mg) so yes they are the same. The drug is Finasteride and the only difference is the amount in each tablet.
  17. Very important topic this is - there is no valid argument for not doing it.
  18. n2se5, I have been buying 5mg Finasteride through Dr Edgar for a while. I know he is legitimate as he is a GP in the UK and the medication comes out via LLoyds pharmacy. Email him as he is very helpful, affordable, keeps in close contact with you and willing to answer any questions within hours. Cutting 5 mg Proscar into 5ths is the same as 1mg Propecia but much more affordable. I have never taken brand 1mg Propecia. I have always cut brand Proscar in quarters (not fifths) and I used to spend a similar amount on Finasteride of the price you stated. You can email him on drstevengedgar@gmail.com
  19. It will vary on how much surface area is covered, how many grafts per square cm you have in the different areas of your scalp and your donor characteristics. You have already answered your own questions - the more aggressive and dense the hairline, the more grafts you utilise and the less you have left for further hair loss down the line.
