  1. Glad things are going well for you. Hopefully the pain is now gone and you are able to sleep now and staples have been removed. It sounds great you are able to conceal the transplant as well, by moving your hair forward, this way no one has a clue of any hairline work. Now that some hairs have shed, just be stress free for the next couple of months when you get that full head of hair. You already made that major step of getting this procedure, now you just gotta wait for the rewards. How is the donor area right now? Good luck.
  2. I have read that smoking depletes vitamin B and greatly increases repair time for any surgery. An article I read stated, something about nerves and tissue repair being affected by smoking. I'd imagine both forms of smoking are dangerous as other chemicals could be introduced into the blood stream. I do know, that cigarettes have certain carcinogens and chemicals that do accelerate hair loss or cause it. I read all this, but the docs can probably give their professional input.
  3. Sparky, I too am thinking about whether to use saw palmetto. It is for a healthy prostate and finisteride does help the prostate as well. The whole patent issue is what I always thought, but then some people said saw palmetto doesn't work as good as finisteride from personal experience, although scientific studies have not been done for those claims. I am thinking of also giving saw palmetto a shot, maybe using it together with meds may help? Anyone else here have good results using saw palmetto? Is there a certain dosage that is preferred? Saw palmetto comes in different mg, or standardized, or extracts, etc. What would be the best one to take? Any ideas?
  4. Ravenroost, how is it going with the transplant today? Ready to go back to work? good luck
  5. Secondtime, how are you doing with the transplant. Hope it's going great and everything is going as planned. The pink/redness issue gone or concealed? best of luck
  6. Ronsaheri, I don't know if it's due to 4:40am and being tired or just confused, but I am really confused of what just happened in the previous post. I don't think I was arguing or challenging you about anything before? I do think he has had great results and continue to do so. I do believe other doctors do a great job here as well. I have seen FUE results that were great and strip results that also turned out great. I know he is able to do a good job with body hair too and helped severe cases. Did you go for a procedure? Would you like to share your results? I think I read something about pubic hair in your post, sorry, but some may find that acceptable, but even though I am wanting hairs, I don't want those hairs, they belong below. It is amazing that they can be transplanted on the crown area but I think chest hair/beard hair and other body hair would be better in my personal opinion.
  7. Yea well, I gotta do it in August due to the schedule I face, otherwise I wont ever find time. But hopefully New Joizey, where I am from, wont be that bad. I'll try to leave at night and come back at night and try to limit my outdoor stay.
  8. Thanks for sharing that experience. Well, this is going to be my first one. I really can't wait and obviously I do wish to have a great result. My situation today is, I get that finger pointed with statements such as your losing your hair, your goin bald, and etc etc, from every single person I see it seems plus the not making eye contact but looking up at your scalp looks while people are talkin to you. So, I said to myself, screw this, I think the only way to repair that situation is to repair the scalp. I booked the surgery and now it's just waiting game. Gotta finish up the final semester of university, and im off to the doctors seat for the procedure. But I hear yea on the more then one procedure part. I really don't want to go through it again, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I'd like to have my life back honestly. A big part of that is having amazing hair again. Age 18-19 was my prime, age 28 right now is Norwood 3V. After seeing a lot of people results, and how well they turn out, it just motivates me more. I am sure your results will turn out great, that is a great doc. I wouldn't worry one bit and just let the fun times begin, wait a few months and then hairstyle how you want, the way you want to.
  9. I can understand your situation, I am worrying about these things too and I haven't had a transplant yet. I am scheduled for sometime in August. Till then, I have too much time on my hands when im not busy studying. I just became a "Hard Core Real Hair Club Member' like two posts ago. So, I got promoted in forum ranks. lol. I end up on these forums and look and read and research. I tell you what, I am starting to have so much knowledge on grafts, zones, placement, and etc, I think I should go take a doctors exam and some hands on training and become a doc lol. Seriously, it's gotten that bad. But glad I could help by letting you know to stop worrying and your fine. Your situation is nothing. You are good to go. Just get plenty of rest and stop stressin, remember, don't stress. Stress is one of the reasons we all end up in the hair restoration seat in the first place. Your welcome, and good luck to you.
  10. In your situation you explained, i personally think it's not a big deal, but rather the severe cases of constant sun exposure that may be affected. If that was the case, then most hair restoration patients would be forced to remain in darkness until they can step out? I doubt anyone does that. Someone has to go outside and get the mail or the paper or something. In your case, it's probably no biggie and not to over think it. I think you should relax and your good to go. That's a minor thing.
  11. I found this answer on IAHRS website, it's actually a featured topic, it gave a link to a response to the topic here Sun Exposure after Hair Transplant - Bald Truth Talk - Hair Loss, Hair Transplant and Hair Restoration Community Seems like people should be careful and avoid sunlight?
  12. Dr. Beehner, thanks for that detailed explanation. I guess those two therapies used together, would be a big benefit. Now, if you are using both therapies together and decide to let go of Minoxidil, would hairs grown by propecia be affected? Would they shed too or just the ones grown with rogaine. Propecia is easy to use, just a pill a day whereas rogaine you have to take time to apply it and all and wait for it to soak in. I'd imagine a lot of patients end up just sticking to propecia if they get sick and tired of applying rogaine.
  13. At 10 days that closure is VERY THIN, i can't even notice it until the hair was lifted. Even at day 5! That's pretty good stuff right there. You seem to heal pretty quick, even regarding scabs etc. Good luck.
  14. I have the one your talking about and I agree, it is a lot better then that little cap nozzle they have. The other one disperses it properly. I believe they got those still on ebay? Did you check there? You may be able to find one there. The new one is a pain to use, broke it up and threw it away and back to using the old one. Hope you find that one online. Here is a website that shows a picture of that specific one that you are asking about, however, I'd call to make sure if that is the one, and not the newer one. http://www.hair123.co.uk/acatalog/spray_maximizer.html
  15. I'd rather have better hair and ways to conserve it, it's something that can't grow back if it's completely gone and without transplantation. You can still conserve your hairs that are bound to be gone through meds. However, ED can grow back. ED can be regulated with Levitra or Viagra instead of surgery. Honestly, there isn't any other proven effective treatments other then finisteride, minox, or hair transplantation. The other thing that could possibly be used to reduce factors that may accelerate hairloss could be nizoral to reduce inflammation, something like nioxin to give you a thicker hair look, and toppik or couvre or something to conceal your hairs to buy you time.
  16. That's a super amazing result. What a major change with the amount of grafts used. So dense and thick. This patient is most likely thrilled with what his transplant achieved. I really like this result. I gotta agree with fingers crossed, that is A+ work
  17. corevettester, I just found out about it too. Heard about it within the past 2-3 days regarding the 5%, if it really is up to 5%. I have heard of some transplant patients having varying physiology that might affect the transplant like you read, but other then that 5% it's new to me. Is it 1% total failure rate and then minor to moderate complications (including such things as certain conditions, permanent shockloss, scalp infections, excessive bleeding, and etc that might hinder optimal growth) included in the rest of the percentage? I googled and saw coalition doctor, Dr. Charles, website stating: "What is the success rate of hair transplants? Generally there is a 96-98% success rate if great care is taken with the donor tissue and it is reinserted into the recipient sites with in a 3-4 hour time period." I am quoting the above from Dr. Charles website and those are not my words but a professionals. Hope he doesn't mind me adding that valuable information that I just came across via google to the question, but if he does then have it removed mods. On a side note, Dr. Charles, has a great easy to use website, with some fantastic results! Then I found this info, http://www.baldingblog.com/2005/08/31/hair-transplant-growth-success-rate/
  18. My fault, i saw your 9 day and then jumped to the 2 month, that's why I thought that. But even so, it seems you are the lucky ones that grew it quick after the procedure. Usually, a lot of people take longer. left you a comment
  19. By the way Fue & Strip have their benefits and advantages and even disadvantages. Both procedures grow hairs. It just depends on what you want and what your comfortable with. Some benefits may outweigh others. From cost to yield. Right now I am leaned towards FUE. I keep my hair really short on the sides. If your satisfied with a couple of doctors on the work they do, then you can compare their prices to decide. If your satisfied and made up your mind already with Dr. Umer, then you get the procedure and come back, share results and show other members then.
  20. I don't think a lot of people here are arguing that Dr. Umar isn't a good doc. His results have shown it over and over again, including youtube. He has helped severely disfigured people regain their scalp and hair, which is a very noble thing to do. But correct me if I am wrong someone, I believe he turned down to be a coalition member from what I have read? Maybe I am mistaken? Maybe that's why he isn't on the membership yet? All the docs listed here are great too by the way. It's that screening and membership process that makes them known to members on this forum. I didn't know who most of the docs were until I read and researched about them here.
  21. I think the patient said 2440 grafts were implanted, but then again the user Shangla suggested 50% growth, so that's why it probably looks the way it does Sparky, oct 29 ones kicked ass. Did any hairs even fall out after the procedure? Seems they sprouted on contact.
  22. Well granted he is a coalition doctor, I don't think most docs would even offer any kind of air fare full or partial or hotel accommodations, food, plus another surgery complimentary. If anything, I have heard of partial refunds without these other add ons. So, that's why his customer service surprised me. Granted some people may not achieve optimal results they seek, but rather then to argue to instead help due to the result was pretty honorable. I mean, I know there are cases where people do not achieve what they seek, what is it 5%?, but the admittance and help in correction for the patient is a big thing. I think his clinic is going above and beyond to help. How many clinics would do that? Some would not even re-connect with that patient, while some may say ok next surgery would be cheaper, or some would say partial refund. Everyone spends thousands of dollars doing this, but to have some sort of customer satisfaction guarantee is rare. But anyway, that's the first time I heard of such an offer honestly. Although, obviously everyone wants and should get the best result the first time. I am sure tons of other people have been in those shoes. I have seen results of other clinics and doctors not on the coalition that left some people totally scarred with big donor scars, while some with plugs from the past, then some with other issues, and I am sure most people don't get that kind of service. In the case of one of my relatives, bosley kind of gave him a nasty scar that is very visible the first time around, he went back for a special discount rate due to the scar for another procedure thinking they will fix it, he ended up with another 1 just as big and he is scarred mentally and literally with two scars now. In this case, for little wolf, this clinic recognized that the growth isn't what is satisfactory as that user Shangla said "I would rather give a very honest opinion that hair growth is only 50% which is not according to our expectations and standards( this may be because of human related factors or X,Y,Z factors etc). It may be because you are one of those rare cases who also show hair growth in 10-12 months which probably will not happen in your case. Still we should see for 2 more months." I too think this particular result is unsatisfactory for anyone with 2440 grafts. I would be mad if anyone had to go through the hassle, pain, wait of hair transplants and at the same time not get any feedback or help after all that mess. At least, they want to help, unlike money making places, in my personal opinion, like Bosley etc. Don't know how many unsatisfactory results each and every clinic has, but looking at this doctors coalition page, he doesn't seem to have bad results. Another thing I find kind of surprising is, I don't think I have seen those high norwoods having transplants before? I'd think a lot of doctors would turn them down due to the area to cover with the donor supply? But nevertheless, this doctor achieved great results on them with the lack of donor supply for their full scalp. That probably helped them emotionally, you can see it in their pictures by their expressions. I think all of the coalition doctors chosen here by the operators/leaders of this forum are great doctors, they each are gifted in the art of hair restoration (strip or fue). This forum does a good job filtering good docs and keeping crooks out. I trust this forum and the help and advice it offers. The mods do a great job adding their input to the discussion and helping those that lack knowledge. I've learned a lot from them. This doctor was chosen by them after a review, and I am certain, due to the results, and service is the reason he is respected and here today.
  23. Wait a sec, complementary surgery, a 50% ticket to the country of the surgery, free 2 nights stay, and food to please a patient who was unhappy about his results. The doc realizes the results didn't please the patient and then does something you rarely hear. Talk about trying to make sure the customer is happy. That's class, that's class, talk about great business ethics. I don't think many doctors would offer such customer service. Dr. Mohmand, you got a thumbs up in my books. I guess that assures and gives confidence to a lot of people that may have surgery with you. That if something doesn't go as planned that you got their back. Obviously, in rare cases anything can happen, some may not achieve the desired result. But it seems you are going all out to make sure the customer is happy. Pretty honest business practice.
