  1. I just had my second procedure with Dr. Shelly Friedman in Scottsdale, Arizona. Although I live in California, I really think It's worth coming to Arizona for this procedure. Dr. Friedman and his staff provided me with great service, made me feel very comfortable, and provided me with an exceptional level of medical care. I've had several transplants with different doctors and objectively conclude Dr. Friedman is the best I've used. Not only is their office the nicest I've been to, but I really like the fact they use custom cut blades, offer free laser treatment to stimulate the hair growth, set me up with hyperbaric oxygen therapy to further stimulate growth, but the method he uses to make the incisions, placing the grafts, closing the scar, post op care are all state of the art and exactly what I wanted based on the research I've done over the years. Their pricing was great and the gave me a travel credit which was great. I'm not a paid spokesman and they did not offer me any incentives for posting a positive review. I'm just a regular satisfied client and wanted to share my great experience with the community. They are really awesome and I give them the highest recommendation possible. If anybody has specific questions send me a message and I'd be happy to respond. Louis M
  2. Dr. Shelly Friedman and patient coordinator Carly Klein have been very helpful in allowing me to reach my goals. Although my scar may have stretched a bit, their office offered me a free scar revision. I was very happy with this. Thanks guys!!!
  3. Hey guys yeah my scar revision with Dr. pak really reduced the size of the scar originally was about three quarters of an inch wide something about that and now it's much smaller although it wasn't a pencil line like I anticipated. But, to Dr. Paks credit I think if I would've followed his postoperation protocol my scar would not have stretch as much as it did. I very stupidly started to work out with very heavy weights and did various exercises which put a lot of strain on my neck my head and my scar, and I'm confident that had a pretty negative effect on the healing. On top of that, I was drinking alcohol and smoking medicinal marijuana and both of those things are not good for the healing process. I do think that Dr. pak procedure is state-of-the-art as well as his facilities. His staff and he himself is absolutely great I would go back to him in the future for another scar revision, but this time I'll be sure to follow the postoperation protocol big time. If you have any specific questions regarding this please send me a private message or reply to this thread and I'll be happy to answer any specific questions. With regard to any pictures unfortunately Dr. paks office took all the pictures and if you gave him a call I'm sure he would provide you with all his recent scar revision surgeries and you can see from the multitude of his work that he consistently does high-quality work
  4. Thanks Carly, I appreciate you helping me get everything all set up and I really think you, Dr. Friedman, and the entire nursing staff were absolutely great.
  5. I just want to comment on my wonderful experience going to Dr. Shelly Friedman in Scottsdale Arizona. I have the unfortunate experience of having my first hair transplant at the hair club in Orange County California with Dr. John Gaffney, and he did a terrible job. I had a second transplant with Dr. Michael Meshkin, and third one with Dr. Brandon Ross. I really wish I went to Dr. Friedman first. His office is state of the art, his protocol for preop and postop surgery is cutting edge, his surgical facilities, staff and procedure was 100% better than all the other places combined. I am an actual patient, I do not work for Dr. Friedman, he didn't ask me to write this post, and I have no financial interest in his company. Just for your information. If you're considering a hair transplant you should check out Dr. Friedman. Certain things like post op laser therapy for free, the lateral slick technique, no scabbing protocol are just a few ways that I feel Dr. Friedman stands out as a far superior hair transplant surgeon I will probably have one more hair transplant in the future and Dr. Shelly Friedman is the definitely the doctor I will use. If you have any questions regarding this please send me a private message and I'll be happy to share my personal experience with u.
  6. Dr Ross is wak. I would be cautious to use him, I had terrible results and a terrible scar. Some patients had luck with him but definitely not me. I'm actually going to dr. Friedman this month and I can tell you from my personal experience, that Dr. Friedman's office staff and facilities are much nicer than that of Dr. Ross. I also think that Dr. Friedman's office has a better approach they use the lateral slip method and offer laser therapy as part of the process.
  7. Hey buddy, sorry for the delay. Yes, I did have smp on my scar from Dr. pak and although I think he did an excellent job, I was expecting something different. Sometimes I like to get my hair cut short with a little bit of a fade, and I thought the SMP would allow me to do that without the scar being noticeable, butthat was not the case. Scar is still noticeable, but looks much better than it did. I think for me at least, having hair transplanted into this scar would be what I am looking for. I really want to be able to wear my hair really short on the sides without seeing the scar at all. I thought the SmP would do that. But the scar is still shows even with the SMP. Depending on what your goals are should drive you to the decision. If money isn't an issue at all, then I would say it can't hurt. But in my case I thought I could wear my hair very very short and the scar wouldn't show. So depending on how wide your scar is and exactly what your goals are is the real issue. The SMP definitely made an improvement. But it wasn't what I thought it was. Dr. Pak did an excellent job and he and his staff are absolutely wonderful. So I think if I did SMP anywhere, I would've had the same result. I do not think that I was clear enough about what my goals were and ideally I would like to wear my hair very short without seeing to start all. I think in order to do that the best thing for me is to have fue done on my scar. Well if you have anymore questions let me know Annello reply without delay
  8. Donald, I have been using Revita for about 6 months now.. I think it's great, especially when you read all of the ingredients.. BUT... I have not really noticed any difference in my hair.. When I first started using it I thought I would see some major growth.. But that was not the case.. But I still think it's one of the best shampoos out there.. I also use the conditioner Revita.cor. It's worth trying it for sure..
  9. Yeah Dave- I will have new hair institute give me some pics and I will show them online.. One of my scars is like a half-inch wide from ear to ear.. It's pretty bad.. So I'm excited about the scar revision technique Dr. Pak was telling me he would use on me to prevent the scar from stretching out.. He said since my scalp was pretty elastic, generally, that leads to increased stretching.. So his technique would mitigate that as much as possible. One downfall, which I did not consider, is that if you do the SMP over a scar and then grow your hair out, for the a certain amount of time until the hair covers the scar, there will be a line where the scar is, so it could look a little weird.. But still a heck of a lot better than it does now.. I did not know about SMP until I came on this site.. And although there seems to be a growing amount of people doing this.. I thought having it down my a hair restoration surgeon would be worth paying the premium than going to a tattoo shop or some permanent makeup aestaticion.. I just hope I am as excited post-procedure than I am now..
  10. I just met met with new hair institute.. Dr. Rassman and Dr. Pak regarding a scalp micropigmentation procedure (SMP). I have 2 scars from previous hair transplants.. One is pretty bad and when I wear my hair short, it looks pretty noticeable. So I've been researching tattooing my scar or camouflaging it - and it looks like the SMP is going to be my best option.. They are going to do a scar revision on one of my scars that stretched pretty bad and SMP on the other scar.. When the scar revision heals in 6 months, they said they would do SMP on that scar as well. One thing they are going to do for the scar revision is a double layered suture with some dissolveable stitches on the inner layer and staples on the outer layer. They also said they would put some A-Cell under the scar as well.. So it sounded much better than the traditional trycophytic procedure... So I was pretty excited about that.. The price, if anybody was wondering was $3,000 but since I agreed to allow them to use my photos they offered me a $500 discount.. So I'm paying $2,500.. If I decide to do my entire head with SMP, which I think I am leaning towards, so I can have the option to wear my hair shaved, it would be an additional $3,000.. I think all things considered, it's going to be money well spent.. So I thought I would share that with the community..
  11. yeah, I went to the hair club for my first transplant and they were the WORST. Dr. Gaffeney did the worst job and I had to have another doc fix what he screwed up
  12. Well I guess after the 18 months of no growth, he just figured it was attributable to the tanning bed exposure and that was the only reason for no growth. So I am really hoping that this recent procedure works. I'd hate to wait another 18 months to realize that it was not the sun exposure after all and was for some other unknown reason.
  13. Yeah, it was the third. At this point, I don't want to say who the doc was, because he was super cool, and I dont want any comments to appear to disparage his name or reputation. But he is one that was recommended by this site and has a great reputation and credentials. So I dont think he or his staff did anything out of the ordinary, but maybe its my scalp has too much scar tissue and not the grafts just wont grow. I'm not sure. I'm about 4 month out since his free procedure and have not seen any growth yet.. and believe me, I look every day, a few times a day. Plus I'm using rogaine, propecia, revita, revita.cor, all sorts of stuff.
  14. Well I know it was a dumb move, I was planning on covering my head, but totally forgot, and after I was done tanning, I totally freaked out, because I did 2800 grafts. The next day I went to see the doc, and he said the same thing, since there is no sun burn on the grafts, don't worry. But after a year went by, then 18 months, I said.. Doc, I dont think it should take this long.. Then finally he agreed to give me another procedure for free.. So I dont know what the deal could be. My first procedure before the tanning I experienced a major amount of growth. So I am just wondering if perhaps scar tissue could cause little to no growth on subsequent procedures if grafts were done in the same exact location or what.
  15. Thanks AAron.. It's just that my last procedure was a failure, I think it was because I went into a tanning bed within the first week of my transplant and did not cover my head. My doc said not to worry, but over a year went by (18 months) and I did not experience any growth. So he was cool, and gave me another 1800 grafts in the front, I am just worried that maybe these wont grow, and that the tanning was not the reason that the last one did not grow
