Has Hair Greed Got Me? Lighting is everything!

Alright guys, as I venture on my final journey. I’m starting to get the hankering for more grafts in my hairline. I should be grateful to be honest, there was a time I looked like this 😢 : 

But still I’m reminded that lighting is everything and in bright lights my hairline is still see through: 

 

However, in normal natural lighting it looks pretty good see below:

 

Am I being greedy? Should I focus all my grafts on my crown and temple peaks and forget about the hairline? I’d like to know your honest thoughts.

I have retrograde alopecia, right above the ear so it makes it look worse in certain angles.

This was before any surgery you can see it looks a bit thin already.

Hmmm anyway, back to the question…. Tough decision to make. Which bothers you the most ? And how many grafts do you think your going to be able to obtain ? It’s a personal choice mostly, for me I would prefer to get the hairline as good as possible. This is what we all see. And then some coverage In the crown.

To me your beard looks like it can a massive amount of nice thick single grafts 🤩

It’s a tough one, the crown bothers me the most right now. But if I can make the hairline slightly denser it would be ideal.

It depends on what sort of hair style you want to sport.

Instead of a slick back, what about a side part type of style? Maybe some more in the front would help there:

I would have confidence knowing that Eugenix will do the best for both areas ! They will treat your crown like a king 😂

Hi,
Firstly; you're rocking the slicked back hairstyle.  We'd need to see what your hair is like with other styles to get a better impression though.
Have you ever considered micro-pigmentation?  I understand it's not for everyone but I've seen some good results in the past.

so everyone that has had HT on hairline will look like this under bright lights ? Id say this is good bro, obviously not perfect like when you were 15 but like you said big change from where you came. Work on the crown, and the one pic i saw you used toppik and looked great

I’ve considered it, but it faded after a few years. I wouldn’t want to keep retouching it, that would get pricey.

Pretty much yes, well in particular with us higher Norwoods. The illusion of density in full effect.

Yes, definitely you’re right, I’ve only had one hairline procedure, so it’s to be expected. I’m still very happy with the results, they’re nothing short of amazing.

tbh i don't get this concept of illusion of density and its probably a simple one lol I cant be that dense, can you explain what it means illusion of density ? I mean when I hear and see how the docs are moving hair from donor to the recipient and "dense pack" will that not result in dense-ness ? lol my b

Of course it is a matter of personal preference @Melvin- Moderator, but if it is me and I have to choose,  I am going for the crown.

The front looks plenty dense to me and you when you hit your 40s and then 50s, what you have will look even more age appropriate.

Given your dense beard and some scalp grafts remaining, you may be able to accomplish both goals.

@Melvin- Moderatorhas a great video and their is a great thread on it. But basically the higher the loss the greater the illusion needs to be. We just won’t have anywhere near the density we had. In most normal lighting it’s going to look fine. But introduce either bright lighting and/or water and hello scalp !

It's every 2-3 years it needs touched up right?

I think there is an ink variant that actually disappears rather than fades over the years.  Perhaps it's worth giving it a shot to see if it's for you.

I fired up Photoshop and did an edit to your photo to get a general idea of what micro-pigmentation results may look like.
It's of course not perfect (looks more like hair fibre!), but food for thought.

If i'm on your place will focus all grafts to crown, as watched today your video with Eugenix, and there will need much job for crown, and maybe if you are so much "greedy" , then hairline maybe just little fix by beard grafts, as this looks amazing if compare your first photos, very good density, and in 40-50s it will still look good.

As you prefere now some kind "italian" hair style , maybe its cause of that more visible at light, at daylight it looks pretty nice, however wish you any way yhou choose, to fast start growth hair .

Old schools is old school always support for Sopranos style ,  i was never brave enough to have such hairline, but simple such hairline looks at someone good or not, in your case "italian" hairline looks nice   , so soprano keep it up

Secondly, you’re going to Eugenix who are Kings of BHT which is only suitable for the crown so if I were you I would try to get as much beard grafts as possible into the crown along with some scalp grafts to get it to the density you desire.
This way you could probably still save some more donor area to use down the line if needed. 

Granted I don’t believe in BHT as much I did in 2019 but maybe Eugenix can do wonders with beard grafts like no other Doctor can.

@Melvin- Moderator crown procedures need many double and triple grafts for high density result, you already had 3 procedures so it will best if you can calculate all the double and triple grafts you had from previous procedures to estimate if you still got enough for the density your desire, it's not easy to get average density over the crown if most of the grafts are singles, you should consult with the doctor which option will best if you got only majority of single grafts, if it's worth invest at the same procedure over your frontal, even with 3500 single grafts it may be hard to achieve average density over crown, so you need to make a plan with clinic if you won't be happy with the next crown density result can do another small touch up procedure around 1000-1500 grafts from back head, beard, whatever after 9 months.

You could split the difference like I did with my last procedure - it all depends on the amount of grafts you get.  Just 700 grafts in my crown made a huge difference, the remaining 400 grafts went to my frontal third and temple points and I'm so glad I addressed those areas too. 

That's the conundrum with surgery.  You want to address everything but the limited donor supply forces you to prioritize.
