Senior Member Garageland Posted July 30, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) This patient came to see Dr Wong with the goal of achieving as much coverage as possible in one session. He had a very large area to cover and it was a challenge for Dr Wong with his fine donor hair to be able to get effective coverage over the the entire area. Dr Wong was able to harvest 5446 grafts in one session to address the entire balding area from the hairline to the back of the crown. For many Norwood 6 patients coverage of this area with acceptable density is rarely a possibility. The photos represent close to the 1 year mark from surgery. The patient started Proscar a few months before surgery. 1228 singles 3480 doubles 748 multi hair grafts Edited July 30, 2015 by Garageland --- Former patient and representative for Hasson & Wong. Senior Member Spanker Posted July 30, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) Well, technically, coverage like this is usually possible. It may be at ten grafts cm but you can cover as much area as you want to. Seriously though, the density is actually very impressive for such a large area. His fine hair isn't helping which is why it's even more impressive. Great case. Senior Member Garageland Posted July 30, 2015 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2015 Spanker, You are right and I edited my post. Coverage is possible but getting the density to be cosmetically acceptable is the challenge. Thanks for the comments. --- Former patient and representative for Hasson & Wong. Senior Member fortune11 Posted July 30, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2015 What a transformation. We can debate extraction techniques (FUE / FUT) to death, but ultimately surgeon skill is paramount, this result is a solid proof of that, esp given the hair characteristics here . Great result, one can only imagine how crazy good it would have been if the patient had coarse / thick / black hair . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FUT #1, ~ 1600 grafts hairline (Ron Shapiro 2004) FUT #2 ~ 2000 grafts frontal third (Ziering 2011) FUT #3 ~ 1900 grafts midscalp (Ron Shapiro early 2015) FUE ~ 1500 grafts frontal third, side scalp, FUT scar repair --300 beard, 1200 scalp (Ron Shapiro, late 2016) http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/185663-recent-fue-dr-ron-shapiro-prior-fut-patient.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Senior Member gbhscot Posted August 6, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted August 6, 2015 Impressive! A huge improvement. Will the patient be seeking to undertake another procedure in the future to add further density? His hair characteristics are very similar to mine (thin, blonde, straight). Does anyone know of similar cases to this? I am trying to build an idea of what outcome I could eventually expect.

I believe the proscar helped. For example they place grafts in a "U" pattern in the lower crown, but hair adjacent to it looks more dense too. But that could just be due to more length. 3382 FUE Lupanzula http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/185463-3382-grafts-lupanzula.html
