Senior Member orlhair1 Posted December 14, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 14, 2012 Well after enjoying my new hair for some time now and having such a positive experience the first time, I have booked round two with Dr. Ron Shapiro at the end of January. I am shooting for about 1500 grafts via FUE. I want to fill in the temple corners some and thicken of a couple of areas. Senior Member BadBeat Posted December 14, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 14, 2012 Hair greed! I did a 1500 FUE with Dr. Ron earlier this year. Turned out spectacular. I'm sure yours will as well. Good luck!

Senior Member StaggerLee123 Posted December 15, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 15, 2012 Good luck Orlhair the fine tuning will improve upon an already very good result. I think you said your scar was really fine so i guess you don't want to risk it again with strip?
Senior Member orlhair1 Posted December 15, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 15, 2012 Thanks StaggerLee123. Yes, I had such a good scar, just did not want to risk it. That, plus I have been really impressed with the FUE results from SMG led me to go that route. Senior Member Janna Posted December 18, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) We took a video of Orlhair's donor scar from the strip procedure at 10 mos post op and it was difficult to see his scar line. So, we've been curious as to how short he can cut his hair without the scar showing through. The upcoming FUE procedure for Orlhair will give us the opportunity to fine out how short he can sport his hair. I've spoken to Orlhair about this already, and true to form, he's on board. The plan is to shave his donor area in prep for his fue surgery so we'll start the shave at guard #3 and take pics, then #2 and take pics, then #1 and take pics. We'll take pics from our usual distance and some close-ups to see how visible the scar can be detected at different guard #'s. We wish we could do this type of documentation on more of our patients but this type of situation is rare. We plan on doing this type of documentation with a recent FUE patient so Dr. Shapiro thought this would be a great opportunity to see at least one of our strip scar cases. Thanks Orlhair for consenting to this and we'll post the pictures soon after. Senior Member wb280 Posted December 18, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 18, 2012 Janna, i will be having the same issue too, having my scar from the previous surgery being exposed for the first couple weeks after FUE. Senior Member Janna Posted December 18, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted December 18, 2012 Yes, since you'll need the donor area shaved for your fue procedure, it'll give you a good indication of the hair length you'll need to cover over your existing strip scar. Regular Member Thomas2012 Posted January 27, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted January 27, 2013 orlhair1, Best of luck, I just had a procedure done about a month ago at SMG. I'm sure I will be back in the future sometime for a second round like you! Just curious as to why you chose to do a FUE as opposed to getting probably more donor hair, maybe 1000 more?, thru a strip procedure if the donor scar was hardly noticeable, I would assume a second procedure would give you the same result. By having a second procedure does it make the scar ultimately bigger?
Senior Member orlhair1 Posted January 27, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted January 27, 2013 Thanks Thomas2012. I decided on FUE this time because 1) I don't need a big procedure this time, 2) I have been very impressed with FUE results from SMG, 3) recovery is quicker, and 4) there is always some small chance that the scar might not be quite as good as the first time. I am sure you will be very happy with your results.....just be patient.....the wait can seem like a long process, but before you know it you will start seeing those hairs come in!
