. Obviously it worked very well and only servers to remind me of why I need to stay away from this stuff. I could get VERY used to this look.

I think you already did:) By the way, it's the very first time I've seen someone using toppik without any suspicious look. Not to encourage you Joe, sorry:)

That is not a bad idea but the problem I see with that is:

1.) I'm not an expert at putting this stuff on.

2.) I don't like encouraging the use of make up for men:)

1-You are the only one that I've seen to ever use it such professionally, simply the best:)

2-Agreed, speaking of toppik , what do you think of SMP as usage of permanent toppik effect??

Toppik is the cocaine of concealers. You plan on just a shake or two for a night out, but before you know it you can't leave the house without a five minute fix in the bathroom.

Never looked thicker Joe. ;)

Awesome Joe. Your hair looks great. Prior to my transplant I couldn't leave the house without toppik and been off it for a few months now waiting for my transplant to grow out. However, I still don't rule out the use of it later. I completely agree with Aaron. It's like a drug for some, once you start it is hard to get off it. It's that massive instant density effect. I ended up buying like 3 bottles as reserves for an emergency if I lost two bottles somehow. That's how precious the thing was/is to me. They got a pump spray attachment that disperses it into the scalp efficiently. Makes it a lot easier to apply. I was even able to create artificial temples, lol. That's how good I got applying that stuff.

But your hair is lookin great in those pics. Looks very very natural.

True that! Perfect analogy!

For a minute i thought you put pics up of Jason Gardiner ; )

BAHAHAHAHAHA! At least I'm honest about it, right?

Sean,

You are exactly right. I was addicted to the first commercially sold concealer known as GLH. Here is one of the old infomercials for it. I still don't know what the woman in pink was doing there:) The problem back then, in the mid-nineties, was that I couldn't get the color right. I always had a lighter shade than my hair and I looked like a skunk because of it.

Joe,

I thought you were a man. And now you're wearing makeup? :-)

But seriously, Toppik can certainly aid the appearance of thicker, fuller hair. It looks good on you.

I was given a sample of Toppik at the 2010 ISHRS Scientific meeting and did try using it once. For some reason, I couldn't seem to apply it in a way that provided me with any extra fullness. In fact, it looks somewhat clumpy on my crown. But like anything else, if I practiced, I'm sure I could master its application. But I prefer going all natural at this stage :-).

Thanks for sharing!

Bill

Joe

How long did it take you to find your " sweet spot "? Did you find it, or did your hair stylist just fix it and that's how it happened? I'm sure it takes some tweaking!

NHP,

Sorry, I missed your question. I never realized what a sweet spot was till well after I had my second procedure but my understanding of it was very limited. I think I truly became aware after my third procedure and I had time to grow it out longer than I've had it since I was a teenager. So I think once I really started to grow my hair out it took about a year to see the various lengths that worked and did not work. That's a year of growth AFTER my result came in from #3, not a year out from the procedure itself. My hair dresser at the time really would only give input as to what looked good or what did not look good. I'm the one that came up with the concept or recognized it anyway.

Paulygon,

Wow, old thread:) I need to update my pics as it's been three and a half years since my last run in the chair with Dr. Wong. In fact, last month was my 12 year anniversary of being a patient of Dr. Wong and I just got a hair cut:) Maybe I'll take some shots this weekend. Thank you for your comments.

I can't believe the before pic of your first session with Dr. Wong to the pics of you on the tracks, absolutely amazing!

2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now.

Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018.

Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.

Wrote a book for newbies called Beating Hair Loss, available on Amazon

If you could have those 4,000 grafts back from the previous work, what would you do with them?

3,425 FUT grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Nov 2013

1,600 FUE grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Dec 2018
