  1. thanks tc, irish, mick, hmo....irish what you said really rings true for this patient, it was a big deal to him, tough to lose hair at an early age as you guys know.
  2. Dr. True performed an ultra-refined follicular unit transplant of 1691 grafts on this 3V patient in his mid 20's. 708 singles, 975 doubles, and 8 threes were used to add 2682 permanent hairs to the receded hairline zone. This patient has been using Propecia for 2 years and has enjoyed not only a stabilization in the crown but a recovery of density as well. Donor density: 68 FU/cm2 Donor strip: 20 x 1.2 Hair: Medium texture with wave
  3. Micro, raph, hmo, mick.....all welcomed comments, thank you....this patient definitely on the younger side that we would treat but fortunately he is doing well with Propecia and yes raph i would say the propecia is having affect on the middle region, i suspect if the forelock thins more, it may call for a second session, things are pretty stable at the moment
  4. Happy new year hair enthusiasts! Dr. Dorin initially saw this patient 3 years ago. At that time, just under 20 yrs. old, Propecia was recommended as an initial step. 14 months later, after seeing the patient's success and committment to medical therapy, Dr. Dorin felt comfortable moving forward with a frontal session of 1256 follicular units. A total of 2,120 hairs makeup this hairline restoration - 461 singles, 723 doubles, and 69 threes. Donor strip: 16 x 1.2 Donor density: @ 66 fu/cm2 Medium/coarse texture Average elasticity
  5. thanks F_H_D.........we met this patient almost a decade ago heading toward a classic 6 pattern - pretty neat to see where he's at now....i think everyone likes to see the instant "wow" results but there are also many cases in which we have to strategically manage one's hair loss over time; to be able to adapt a each patient's goals and unique set of circumstances
  6. This case illustrates how a series of treatments over 9.5 years can be successful in keeping pace with progression of hair loss. When this patient had his first HT in 2000, he presented with a 3A hair loss pattern with recession in the hairline corners and behind the forelock ??“ 200 singles, 200 doubles, and 317 triple hair FU's were transplanted. After a year, the hair from his grafts grew in but further loss of native hair was evident behind and into the forelock ??“ however, even having lost more hair, his transplants kept his appearance stable. In 2001, 200 singles, 412 doubles, and 477 triple FU's were placed in the hairline and front for added density. After three years, with continued progression, only transplanted hair remained in the front and top. In 2004, 341 singles, 839 doubles, and 109 triple FU's were placed throughout the front, top, and crown. With noticeable thinning taking place in the vertex region, the patient started Propecia as well. In 2009, still using Propecia, there was no remaining native hair throughout the balding pattern. His pattern was purely transplanted. With his three treatments totaling 3149 FU grafts consisting of 741 singles, 1451 doubles, and 957 triples, Dr. True left this patient with just one linear scar in the donor area. This patient reported that one of the most satisfying aspects of his experience was that he went bald and had his hair restored without anyone but his wife knowing that he was losing hair or having treatment. 7. hey labrat....i've seen just as good a result with a standard closure, each patient case is unique as to the best approach...supporting the external closure with an internal dissolving suture is very effective and something we have been using for over 15 years..trichophytic i have to say on the right patient can produce a very desireable scar.
  8. this is well done....nice to see the result from different angles...good stuff*
  9. Just want to preface this by saying this patient came in for his follow up on a rainy day with a knit cap so in not so high in terms of style points but a very realistic view of coverage acheived with 2700+ grafts. *Propecia use @ 2 yrs currently *2717 Follicular Units: 1282 singles, 1435 doubles
  10. Janna....nice result, hairline looks supernatural, top should be kicking in next few months.....great progress so far, look forward to the next update*
  11. bosco, Dr. True and Dr. Dorin have been utilizing a blend of strip/fue over the last few years with great success
  12. Mick......i like the variety of results you show, im sure its helpful to prospectives out there...nice growth for just 4.5 months*
  13. Janna.....another great result! i agree, good call on the haircut
  14. Dr. Dorin performed an FUE procedure on this patient who presented with a class 2A pattern. 752 follicular units were transplanted: 291 singles, 326 doubles, 135 threes - 1348 hairs *Patient requested shaved hair style Donor area before
  15. thanks for the comment Spex....he just did a follow up treatment will update on the progress.
  16. Dr. Dorin saw this patient recently for his 8 month followup. Treatment evolving nicely, will update after a year. 2103 follicular units were allocated to the front and top. * 2103 FU's transplanted: 1570 singles, 1133 doubles - at total of 2266 hairs moved * Strip - 29 cm by 1.2 cm * 60 FU/cm2 * Medium texture * on Propecia since procedure
  17. This patient presented to Dr. True with less than ideal donor characteristics (fine hair/below average hairs/fu) and an extensive balding pattern. Goal with the initial transplant was to address the frontal third and bridge region with mild transition into the crown. While the result is not as full as would be with better hair qualities, nevertheless its been a meaningful and significant transformation for this patient. A second treatment is planned for 2000 - 2500 fu's to address the front/top and extend coverage into the vertex. Specs: Donor density: 62 FU/cm2 1.7 hairs/fu 3158 grafts: 1081 singles, 2024 doubles, 53 threes - 5288 hairs
  18. very nice result Janna....i would say this patient is in great shape unless that bugger hair greed kicks in*
  19. is the patient using medical therapy, would explain to some extent the thickening of the vertex fringe
  20. i agree......great cosmetic change with one pass....if you can get the hair direction right to create the whirl pattern there tends to be a layering effect that can create nice coverage with fewer grafts. theres definitely no controversy treating the crown with someone over 50 with the kind of frontal density and above average donor he appears to have.
