  2. Akaki Tsilosani says: "Some hair transplant surgeons assert, that their transection rate during FUE procedures is below 5% as a result of their big experience and exclusive instrument use. Transection less than 1% is impossible. So, it`s difficult for us to believe. In our practice, follicle transection percentage during FUE is 10–15%.This is truth, but transected follicles will grow back in the donor area because the root of the hair remains there. That`s why we consider rechecking harvested grafts under microscopes to be important. Each grafts transection is checked and only good ones are counted and transplanted. Transplantation of 2000 grafts by FUE during 1 session with manual and small punches is simply impossible. Only 600–800 grafts may be transplanted. We have 10% transection, others 1%??? So, you choose..."
  3. For FUE we use titanium covered punches from Ellis Instruments: for 1–2 hair grafts – 0,75 mm punches and for 3–4 hair grafts – 1,0 mm punches. In case of FUE per session (up to 8 hours) we use 2000–2500 follicular units (4000–5000 hairs). We use special machine for FUE. It is used by surgeon only for rotating titanium covered punches (0,75–1,0 mm), which are used only for initial incisions. Graft extraction is always done manually. Watch our videos about FUE on site or YouTube (and a new one with more details is coming soon). The price for FUE in our hair transplant center is 2.5 Euros per graft now. The price was 2 euros per graft in 2009. The price per graft is fixed no matter of the scale of the surgery. Unless any discount is provided. Discounts take place often in Talizi. Our survival rate in case of FUE is the same as in case of strip surgery – 90–92%. By our experience, average hair quantity per graft is – 2 hairs per graft. Hair/graft ratio varies 1,7–2,3 hair per graft and depends on patient's skin feature.
  4. We make such reports for every our patient and keep it in our database, so if the patient comes for the next hair transplant surgery we can see improvements and changes on his head. If patient requests this report we provide it.
  5. Our clinic participates in all major workshops of International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. Last one was on June 25-27, 2010 in Bangkok. It was hosted by famous Thai surgeon – Damkerng Pathomvanich. Almost all famous Asian hair transplant surgeons participated in this meeting: Kenicharo Imagava – from Japan, Tommy Sungjoo Hwang – from Korea, Bertam NG – from Hong Kong, Sanjiv Vasa – from India and Akaki Tsilosani – from Georgia. Leading figures of hair transplantation also arrived in Bangkok from different continents: Mario Marzola – from Australia, Jerry Wong – from Canada and Dow Stough from the USA. They really adorned theoretical part of the annual meeting with their scientific reports and made some demonstrative sessions: Mario Marzola – initiator of wounds trixophitic closure presented a masterful technique of strip excision and plastic, Damkerng Pathomvanich – his open donor method, Jerry Wong – formation of coronal slits. Akaki Tsilosani with Iranian colleagues: Akaki Tsilosani and Jerry Wong (Hasson & Wong, Canada):
  6. Before operation doctor uses Folliscope (phototrichogram system for hair and scalp analyses). This system consists of 50X magnification digital camera and computer software, which allows us to count the quantity of follicular units and hair, grown per square centimeter, hair shaft diameter, telogen–anagen ratio and many other details. In case of FUE, we never harvest miniaturized hair. In case of Strip method, every harvested follicle as a rule must be transplanted. For creating recipient sites, we use different needles or Sharpoint micro blades. For example: 1 hair grafts – 21G needles (0.8 mm diameter) or 0.75 Sharpoint micro blade. 2 hair grafts – 20G needles (0.9 mm diameter) or 1 mm Sharpoint micro blades. 3–4 hair grafts – 19G needles (1.1 mm diameter) or Sharpoint 15 micro blade (1.5 mm). Maximal density per sq. cm we have achieved in case of scientific research during our practice was 100 follicular units in 1 cm without decreasing survivability (92%). But in everyday practice we plant up to 70 follicular units in hairline and front sides, 30–35 f. u. in midscalp area and 20–25 f. u. in crown area. 45 double-hair grafts are placed in 1 sq cm and density of 89 hairs in was achieved: 100 grafts (70 double-hair and 30 single-hair FU) are placed in 1.0 sq cm and 156 hairs grew up: We are getting detailed report about grafts quantity from assistants during each operation:
  7. Hello! Dr. Tsilosani had his vacations and came back today. He will be happy to answer to all your questions here. Please post questions and I'll post his answers as the representative of the clinic. linchpin gave good answers to all your questions mentioned above, and I'll give you more information on these subjects in a few days.
  8. Scar gets almost invisible in some time (year or so) see pictures above. There was only 3500 grafts transplanted so density is normal, and pay attention to patients hair structure - he has low density hair on all of his head. And the patients hair color and structure are not best for hair transplant, but after 2nd transplant of 3000 grafts it will be ideal hair transplantation result. As soon as the patient will come to Talizi for 2nd surgery I'll post photos here.
  9. I don't know what the patient gonna do actually, but as soon as he will send us some photos after 3rd hair transplant I'll post them. Unfortunately there will be poor quality photos, I think, because the patient lives in Kazakhstan and Talizi clinic is in Tbilisi, Georgia, so he will take photos by himself and our photograph will be unable to shoot him.
  10. 10600 grafts were transplanted in 3 surgeries. There are photos where the patient has long hair, where 8100 grafts were transplanted in two surgeries above. There are photos taken the next day after the 3rd hair transplant where 2500 grafts were transplanted also. I can't understand what you mean. Please rephrase your message.
  11. Hair transplant price for this patient was 1 euro per graft with strip method and 2 euro per graft with FUE.
  12. Here are some photos of hair taken by folliscope (50x magnification) Front: Side: Crown:
  13. Here are some photos of Maksim before third hair transplant at Talizi clinic: Indoor: Outdoor: After 3rd hair transplant. 2500 grafts were transplanted (2000 strip + 500 fue): Maksim on city excursion the day after hair transplant:
  14. Yes, angle is a little different, but there are hairs transplanted in that area and the patient also uses medicals and that's why you see that difference.
  15. The same patient is on all photos. You can watch second hair transplant of Maksim at Talizi on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajmAvnmk0Ig The patient comes at 13th of December this year on 3rd hair transplant and I'll make some HQ photos of his head from all angles.
