  1. Congrats B-Spot even if the 1000 post was planned...lol!!! I looked at it and shoot I only have 15% of your post's so thanks for the inclusion to the posse...so if that makes Bill-Urlacher...BSpot- L.Briggs....DOES THAT MAKE ME... REX!!!!!NOOOOOOO!!! Well at least I am on a good team....keep up the good work B.
  2. no simple yes or no....avodart has not been approved for hair loss by the fda so clinical trials have not been done for long enough to establish its long term saftey...with that said I take .5mg of avodart daily and find it to be superior for me vs propecia. I think it is the best drug out. I suffered a shed months 4-6 that freaked me out (usually sheds are a sign that medication is working properly and if you ride it out will come back stronger my hair is looking better). I think my final 2 bits of advice for you is that while avodart is in my opinion the best hairloss drug on the market you should see your general doctor and inform him or her of your decision and let them know you want to get a yearly blood test to check your levels and make sure it is all good. Lastly Dr.Wong is a great doctor if he gave you advice I would take it over many others. hope that helps
  3. personally for your level of hairloss I would go to see Dr.Feller in that area hands down his profile is listed under the coalition surgeons...with that said nj/ny area has other very good docs also part of the coalition...go see a doctor in person to let you know if you are a good candidate or not.
  4. Tam, Send me a -PM- and I will explain further... I looked at SF docs a ton before I flew out of the country to see Dr.Hasson....Shoot I had some friend and family get work done in the area so I believe I speak from experience.
  5. good luck Jersey, you are in good hands with Dr.Feller your lucky he is in your back yard.
  6. I had a in person consult with him, and I would echo he is honest-straight-shooter Doctor...just does not do much more then 1.5k in one session. His techs have been with him for many many years and in SF/Bay area it is him and Dr.Panagotacos...I walked away thinking not amazing but Dr.R is good(personally slightly better then Dr.P)..yes, I have seen his finished work first hand. my2cents
  7. LOL I must say Bill is an animal when it comes to posting does the man sleep?...Hbank you are no slouch either....beer on me if either of you makes your way to SF. Good work helping others regain hope!
  8. Hbank, Your one year pics(outside) look incredibly natural, I don't think I would be able to even guess HT...thats huge in my book, plus Dr.Wongs work looks good too. Thanks for the update and oh yeah...solid advice for a thousand + posts. Bayscholar
  9. Hey Folica sorry no ONE answer would due justice....for me I would include 4 Doctors for FUSS (strip-HT) that I feel are the cream of the crop for various reasons (custom blades, slit angle, hairline/temple, and most importantly results)...hope this helps. dr hasson - Vancouver, Canada dr ron shapiro - Bloomington, Minn dr feller - Great Neck, NY dr rahal ??“ Ottawa, Canada
  10. Hey Folica, I would not limit your self to Arizona Doc's only (15k is a lot of money 2 spend on a HT so whats another 1k for covering traveling cost -see the best of the best). With that said, from the pics I have seen on the net, I would choose Dr.Alexander over Dr.keene again from pics only. Bayscholar
  11. Something, While I do think it is good 2 wait and review information before you hang someone(allow for due-process of law)....this situation called for quick and immediate action by her Doctor. If you look at the original thread on HLH forum you will see that sites moderator responded immediately that this patient should see her Doctor ASAP...and whether you realize it or not is very serious. Dr.Fellers post on that site while very informative may at best be a placebo calming pill that will help relax her (hope I am wrong for her sake). No matter who the work was done by...a spade is a spade...and I am confident this sites vets(Bill you got nearly 2000 post WOW) will say the same regardless of the Doctor...no alliances here man just real help for hair-loss suffers. thanks Pat for your post Bayscholar
  12. Eman (YES)...but This depends heavily on your specific situation and characteristics.... compounded by the uncertainty the future may or may not hold. But I will say this.....As a patient of Dr.Hasson if you go for one pass (assuming 3.5K+ focusing on a region lets say frontal half, as full coverage 1pass tend to be less impressive-my opinion) yes you will most likely be ecstatic (assuming your expectations are realistic..Dr.Hasson will most likely surpass them) leaving you to contemplate naming your first born son Victor. May your future be a hairy one! Bayscholar
  13. Agreed great responses ... S&P- it does not get more real then that, even I wondered about HCM in the past but one can never replace a look from within....Bspot I see the 6.5k grafts have not affected your ability to give great advice, spot on again. Take it and run with it mikeshair that is some great info from two seasoned vets.
  14. Your hair is looking very natural G8 nice face framing by your Doc. Good growth & thickening in next exciting months.
  15. Just wanted to chime in that one and done is very rare (nw4+)...sure go in hoping for the best but just remain realistic that a second soon after or in the future (5-10years will be needed)...considering your age and the very real problem of hair greed...So in the end two HT are not needed for good results, I just find more often then not are needed for great results. 16. Yguy, spot on yo! Mrjb, Real point about people...sad but true... I find it funny that I get a "smile and a hello" now with my morning coffee (nearly 5k grafts later)....when before my HT not even my name for my drink was taken...next please.
  17. If you are going for hairline work I would go with Dr.Shapiro - personally(based only on int-pics..I have not seen a patient of either in person) I would choose Dr.Shapiro.
  18. wow LL, your m4 pics look like a chea-pet in the works congrats I have some hair envy...your crown looks remarkable for the early stage you are in. I hope my second procedure a year or two from now brings me near those numbers from Dr.H. Good growth in the next very fun months. bay
  19. Went to a party a week ago and I am never one to make the elite party pics in the past...guess I got lucky this time (almost wish I was warring a t-shirt reading: Got Hair?)...long time in the works but I have a pic w/hairline....yes.
  20. Thanks for the detailed breakdown, makes me seriously consider Dr.S for #2, enjoy the next 6months nothing like knowing what to expect to help calm the nerves. Spot I like what Dr.Shapiro did with the sides leading to the crown should help that transition area look good (most HT with NW5+ have that problem for few make it to 6.5k+) Good growth B-Spot and enjoy Da-Bears this weekend.....you mentioned ground works for #3...dude hair greed is real. Peace Bayscholar
  21. Mabuhay, Dr.Rahal does some amazing work, he is one of the best young HT doc's. Some of the best hairlines I have seen are his work, and his rates are very reasonable considering his skill. Given your pic, I think he made a good suggestion(grafts). Bay
  22. Hey Emusteve, You have narrowed it down to Shapiro & Hasson....your major concern seems to be the future and if this is the right choice for you (now and then)....are you my long lost hairloss brother, sounds like you re-typed my blog....seriously your almost the same age as me and have a similar type of hair loss (aggressive for your age...I also can't use Rogaine as it make my scalp red and itchy). If you decide to go ahead with strip Ht you are choosing between two of the best doc's the world has to offer period same two docs I had ranked 1a and 1b....As for 3k vs 4k you should remember it is a very rare case that a person at your age would only need one pass or surgery (I am saying this from experience) so go into it knowing you will need two HT at least. First HT will lay the foundation and the second one will fine tune it up (you may get lucky and only need fue to fine tune your first)....so with that said I feel either 3 or 4k are good estimates 1.5k is usually a standard estimate from a doc the does a max of 1.5k hence that's what he recommends for you (I ran into the same thing and wondered how does one doc think 1.5k will do it and another says start with 4k and #2 will hopefully get 2-3k=7k plan)... you will in the end need much much more then 1.5k for a full restoration. Look I was in your shoes almost 5 months 2 the day, I asked myself............. SELF-do you want to be bald and miserable as you are today for the rest of your life.... or do you care to gamble/chance(that you could end up worse in the future, if meds don't work or only work for 10years lets say) and get a megasession and hope it brings a solution(in the form of hair and lots of it, ).....move forward 5months-it has and I will never look back because of it (older members may disagree with my next line)...looking good from 30-45 with that chance of looking like an ass monkey from 45-60 if meds fail me and HT idustry does not advance in 15-20years....with how my hair is today I could give two shits, I am already planning #2 and just wish I could have told my self those first 2months after my HT....be easy brother its gonna grow like crazy. 2 shave or not 2 shave what is best?....Well from what I had gathered from the internet + speaking with both doctors that must shave and those that don't....it depends on your level of loss and your age, some one who is 45 tends to have a much more defined pattern (NW level) then some one @ your age....it becomes even more important for you to give your doctor the best view he can possibly get...why jeopardize something so important for the ability to look normal faster (1week vs 2months)....you only get a few chances at this you want it done be as exact as possible. Good luck hairloss brother, take your time and make sure you want to do this as you can't go back once you go strip (in my case to being bald as hell....no more )...its just the way it is.
  23. Well D I'll play Devils advocate here... pushing 40 is drinking, and I am at work on Saturday (congrats on finishing finals that's always reason to drink)... listen you do not have to shave your head get buff 2 accentuate your chrome dome (that's the nonsense I was told at 24, look I did it and I did not look tuff + I have trouble gaining mass- I am slender....so slender shaved head = cancer look...thus the shaved head pump iron theory is not for every one). Second your picture is not the best quality as Bill mentioned so until you can improve the picture quality... your current state is a guess to us, and it will be difficult for any one on this forum to accurately inform you on what is possible. Example...from your pic as poor as it may be, it appears as though you have major hair loss in your frontal 1/3 region (i.e. hairline to midscalp region) if and I stress if you notice your family loss patterns to be one in which the front goes early and the crown stays you are not as dead in the water as some may imply. You see the point that Bill makes 4 you is very sound and comes from having experience with HT's & being a very helpful person - to a lucky newbie like yourself... find out what you are dealing with (family hair loss patterns, hair quality, and get some opinions form coalition docs... that will require getting better images to them) before you begin your fight... again the more prepared your are for battle the more likely you are to win....so take a year and research research and research some more...look for people with your hairloss patterns and similarities in hair. Find out which cases have been successful and which have not... be informed and reasonable in your expectations and anything is possible....rush into with a pipe dream and your likely to have your dream burst (and as others have said, once your start there is no going back). Stay up hairloss brother anything is possible
  24. The HT community will miss Dr.Seager. Advanced HT today are a credit to him and his pioneering.
