  1. go together like pb&j, great for a cheap sandwich bad for a ht.
  2. Greg, I think Bspot makes a very valid point you should think long and hard about. Being a NW5,6+ and thinking about a ht ..it can only be done right if you have donor of 3-7k to really make a cosmetic difference. With that said, if it is something you decide to do...personally I don't think your back density is so bad that if you really got aggressive with scalp exercises, and make a commitment to Rx regime that you could get 3k, but I am basing that purely on assumptions as i have not seen any pics; and something tells me you have not contacted Dr.Feller? My advise is just based on my limited experience with my HT. My family hair loss history was fairly bad, I had aggressive stage of hair loss 4 my age. I waited nearly a 1.5 years to see what difference meds made.. after not taking from (21-25.5years of age big mistake in my opinion)... major+ impact on my hair, so I made the break. I couldn't stand seeing my self bald, just had to do something to make it right.. is it a risk, life is a risk brother . As for amount of grafts I would agree with John-in-nc in your case go large or don't go at all.
  3. Wow again, I believe the pics are posted on hlh, and if my guess is right doctor he received around 10k grafts bht. No final pics ever released and his staff that post on the forum keep delaying pics...amazing thanks Dr.Feller. I go to New York every year for work in July, this time I am going to make a visit to Great Neck (sorry if I sound ignorant, but that sounds like the boonies)
  4. Alec1974, You only got 1,500 grafts so the good news is you should have more. Bosley is not highly respected on this forum because they are a commercial hair mill, I believe most coalition docs have only one place of practice...bosley has more centers then Princeton review. I do live in the bay area, if you want to meet up send me a pm. As far as your quote "what gonna happen to me"...you will grow hair what % no one knows but stay positive, it is the best thing for you in a long road to re-growth....I highly recommend you read literature on the site regarding what to expect after your ht, to help calm your nerves. good growth to you man
  5. Your intention should be to help others, not just fatting your wallet, then sure if you are a doctors show-pony he can offer you a discount or possibly a free procedure. Then I think about someone like Pat, and something tells me he did not receive a free ht from Dr.Shapiro, what he did receive was that other thing......ahhh yes integrity / respect that is why I we all owe pat big time, myself a near bosley victim like bushy got lucky enough to stumble on this site before d-day. Thanks again Pat...rock on brother p.s b-spot 7k club wow, any dates for ht2?
  6. I have read some articles that recommended not taking propecia until you have fully passed through maturation in puberty...so at 17 unless you were fully matured physically I would wait a year or two, but definitely see a dermatologist/physician and see what they say...I think you are too young to take propecia but that just my feeling, if nothing else see a dermatologist/physician before you take propecia or any drug you plan to take for the rest of your life, to make sure you are not doing any damage or harm... just to be safe..
  7. baldhead, you can look at my blog(htn blogs first one), I posted month 1&2 pics...I had a megasession with HW and you can see for yourself, but I mention in my blog month 2 finally brought me back to square one...no hat lookin like I did before only shorter hair.
  8. unless you have a bunch of native hair left on top, I would say no. I would do it after if I could.
  9. body to head = +donor, but does it work..(scoop)..thats what this thread is about if that helps...no at least from the pics I have seen.
  10. Feller is really talented...he has done some very very good work, not to mention I have enjoyed many of his post on this and other forums (smart, straight shooter, and no BS at all). Congrats Doctor Feller
  11. Gorpy its bay not baby...found it funny being as I only have a handful of post (you taken a shot at me?...just kidding) GP, I guess that point I would hammer home to you, is a mega session is not walk in the park and should be given the utmost respect (if you have seen OFFICE SPACE the movie ??“ think of when the two programs Michael and Sameer get the breakdown on minimal security prison from and attorney playing the Jonnie Cochran role... "minimum security prison is no cake walk... the key is to kick some ones ass or become someones bitch".... same applies to ht do your research or become some ones bitch). If you for example go for more then 4k you will need to be very very patient, first couple of months you will see your self go backwards before you go forward. Also as others have stated grow you hair out longer before hand.... 3 weeks may not be enough to cover a strip 1.5cm or wider at a length of 25+ cm. In closing ht are not exact no matter what any one tells you, how your body takes to transplanted grafts, healing time, shock loss, and growth rates greatly vary from person to person. That is why researching your butt off before hand and waiting an extra month or two to do it for example may be the best thing possible (if you have done tons of research no disrespect intended again just my 2c). 4724 Dr.Hasson July 19th-06 32cm strip length- 2cm width Hair count = ? .... Will update after I have my follow up visit as best I can. (No disrespect meant at all, I have nothing but positive things to say about HW-Dr.Hasson)
  12. gp, first I would ask what size procedure you are looking to get, as that will play a significant role in how long it will take you to again look "normal". as for my self I would highly recommend getting two weeks off (as that will most likely coincide with your staple/suture removal date). If hat is out of the question at work...look into concealers and search for threads like the one you posted to see as many suggestions as possible. the more prepared your are after your ht, the easier life will be trust me if you are looking for more then 2k you will want some time to heal stress free. my 2c
  13. I too had shock loss that I thought was or could be the end of the world... and will not come back. I am now PO 2month and most of it is growing back, but even if I could go back in time and tell my self this at 4 weeks I wouldn't believe it so I know where your coming from on this. Also I have read that shock loss sometimes is greater in HT2 then the first (do a search on bushy he had really bad shock loss in his HT2 but now at 4 months looks Amazing), but even most of those cases have had it grow back.
  14. Pat I agree hair count info is useful it helps empower the end customer. As hair count is more comparable then graft count(given the variance discussed in thread), it is not a reach to think more records will be kept (again its not rocket science its a spread sheet). Your food label comment made sense, ironically I shop at my local farmers market co-op no labels but taste and quality second to none. I do think as a patient of H&W I would like to have a complete detailed break down, I read this forum almost everyday why not get more numbers to compare accurately across the board.... a coalition standard. My reality is I flew out of the country to see Dr.Hasson for I found his product quality to be second to none. Wanted to put a positive note for my HT Doctor, I do not work for H&W at all, but I did have a good experience all around with my HT so far, Dr.Hasson was honest and straight forward. But yes numbers can help keep alot so I finish as i started; I agree Pat.
  15. no clothes being washed here so I think you missed my point.. look on this site under photo's and you will find people with similarities with equal results from the top coalition docs, so that was in response to your graft trimming post in the thread. Seeing people who had HT in person with my hair type helped me alot in making my decision along with YES pictures (this showed me the good and bad sides of HT). I am saying research alot and see it for your self in person if that makes you happy (takes longer but more useful I agree).
  16. I think why some H&W patients, like myself, take issue with the notion of graft trimming (sub Fu's) is simple... it would me we have been suckered. Also the theory of sub Fu's to produce more grafts would make even more sense if a 4k graft NW6 looked better with 4K from another clinic, that is when the common hypothesis on this thread is put to rest. You have mentioned this before your self Pat ??“ 5-7 years ago 2-3k was a pipe dream now it is common place...same arguments then as now, and I don't see it changing much. I myself had to choose between H&W and Shapiro Medical and there were pros and cons for both clinics (please note both are cream of the crop), my 2cents is do your diligence and visit a few clinics before you jump in.... if you plan to let them cut you open, nothing we feel better then knowing you made the right decision. Also Pat your HW visit was a great read, keep up the good work. 4724 Dr. Hasson July 19th 2006 Strip 32cm long ??“ 2cm wide I am keeping a blog with pics and journals from day one on (and will continue through 365), will share once I reach month 3, so judge for your self.
  17. Bill, To be honest I am not looking forward to the flight home(used almost all my FFmiles to upgrade to 1st Class for the way home only), I have a lot of vowels in my name(persian/american) so I will have to take my hat or bandanna off to go through customs should be a kick to the people working that shift. Lastly getting the same feeling as back when I played sports in high school, thinking about nothing but the game coming up. Glad I choose Dr.Hasson or I would be more nervous then regular, one bright spot..don't have to worry about my jump shot being on. good luck in October Bill, will keep you posted bayscholar
  18. Mark, I went to see Dr.Hasson in Vancouver for a consultation a month ago and will be flying up for my procedure next week. As for the extra cost of going once before your procedure, sure its not a finical plus but you really get a sense of familiarity with the office, city, food, staff..etc this may seem dorky to some. Again I am going from CA so your flight time will be longer, but still feel its worth it. Most posts above are pointing you in the right direction get on propecia and stabilize your current hair (3-6months). I think both docs' you're debating are excellent, lastly I feel your pain on the market...crap stocks cost me some grafts. Any how I will write a post after my procedure next week and drop some pics shortly after that. Good luck on your quest for hair, Bayscholar
  19. I agree with Jake and Hairbank stabilizing your hair with Fin for a year before a procedure could help prevent shock loss and help maintain for the future as your very young still at 24 I presume you still have some hair on top and should make your focus and goal to save that hair while researching before your procedure as much as you can. I am 4 years older then you and just got back from my consultation in Vancouver last Friday, yes H & W are exceptional (I am having my first procedure in a few months with Dr. Hasson). The tuff thing about hair loss and hair transplants is that often times waiting can be your best asset and friend, by that I am implying if you wait till you have a better sense of your future hair loss or expected hair loss you can better approach you procedure for hair line, graft decisions, also letting propecia or other dht inhibitors time to reduce dht suppression so you can actually help prevent some shock loss, stabilize your current hair and in some cases even improve hair quality. Do as much research as you can looking for people with your characteristics...age, hair type, density, nw level, and see what procedures and or medications worked best for them. Again if you choose to H & W their work speaks for its self you will be in the hands of one of the best the world has to offer. Take it from me four years ago I almost went to Bosley to have 900 grafts put into my hairline, luck this forum and a few years of research has changed my understanding and out look for the best, and I hated waiting from 24 to 27 but now I have a much better sense of the battle to come and the correct steps to win. Best of luck
  20. Dr. Cooley's did some great work on this lucky guy, thanks Pat this was a great piece.
  21. just to add I know joe's work was done by Dr. Wong but I still felt frozen when I saw him...amazing. Just wanted to add that... thanks joe if your out there keep the dream alive, hair loss can be killed to me you proved that. thx, ab
  22. Wareagle72 To answer your questions, first I arrived at the clinic a couple of hours before my consultation just to make sure everything was ok for my meeting with Dr. Hasson. As I was leaving I realized I had left my glasses in their offices went back to get it and on my way out again held the elevator for a guy on the same floor, he was wearing a world cup hat. I asked him his favorite team, like mine he was rooting for Portugal so we talked about soccer for a minute or so, he then asked me what I was doing in BC I told him visiting H & W, he asked me if I wanted to see some recent work well you guessed it was leaving the day after hair wash and his grafts looked amazing so densely packed it was very pleasing to the eyes (this is just me and him in an elevator), I asked him if I could buy him a pop and pick his brain on the procedure he had with Dr. Hasson while we watch some soccer. We went to a pub for a few hours and it was like I was hanging out with one of my friends back home (he was the same age as me 28), couldn't believe how pain free things seemed for him, at the end we exchanged emails and both look forward to see each others future results, and this was just a sign of things to come for the weekend. As for what separates their clinic from others, I would honestly have to visit all my top doc's clinics (in the top five) before I could definitively articulate the difference but again I will stand by my assertion that Dr. Hasson is as good a hair surgeon as there exists point blank. The work I saw by accident and random clients stopping by and may be a few show ponies possibly (but seeing Jotronic in real life knowing he was a nw6+ in need of repair... I almost had a stroke (trying to be funny and still make a point here). Look god has blessed me with a good mind which has helped me to make an honest assessment on the best out there just not a good head of hair to wear...that I believe is about to change. Again I will echo if you are thinking of having a hair transplant I would visit Dr. Hasson and Dr. Shapiro before making a decision, if you do I believe you to can feel the presence of excellence in the room. For me in the end I choose Dr. Hasson the final call between my top two #1 doc's.
  23. troy you are correct that with specific characteristics their approach can work best, it may or may not be the best for every person looking for a hair transplant that is true. I was very excited from my visit, felt really relaxed and comfortable around Dr. Hasson it was just my impression, not to say Doctors like Dr.Ron Shapiro are on a lower plane that would be crazy talk, I think there are five guys that make out the best of the best. I believe Dr. Hasson to be one of them that's all.
  24. Flew to Vancouver to have a consultation with Dr.Hasson this Friday, note to any one flying from SFO you take domestic terminal to an international location go figure -anyhow on to my post. I live in San Fransisco and have visited a handful of local doc's including one a family member had a good procedure with, and one out of state. I was very close to choosing the one my family member had a procedure with even paid the deposit(July 14 date, just felt in my gut the good didnt cut it). Glad I got lucky and stumble onto this site, after meeting Dr.Hasson my debate and quest has ended. To say I was impressed would be an understatement, skill-class-peerless (I ran into at least 6 or 7 past clients of his with my dumb luck an was blown away), that's what I left with. If you plan to get a procedure do not fail yourself and spend a plane ticket to go visit the best hair doc in the world its well worth the cost. cheers ab
