  1. Instead of getting better this is getting worse day by day. This week i spoke to 4 docs. Talking to two more next week. All of the docs are coalition members With the first doc I had an in-person meeting. This doc is known for his honesty and integrity and is considered amongst the top two in the industry.Let's call him Dr. B. He told me that my donor density is not good, just 2.2 on back and 1.6 on side and that being only 27 I dont make for a good tranplant paitent. I should never have a transplant. I appreciate his honesty. Second doc Dr. D (again in-person) tell me that since I am so young I should go for a moderate transplant of only 1200 grafts on the front 1/3 region. Third doc Dr. S (web consult) tells me that I am too young. Good possibility tht i will loose tons of more hair. This is kind of similar to what the first doc said.I should take a extremely conservative approach. He draws me a hairline that would rather suit a 45 yr old than a 27 yr old. He recommends around 1800 follicles to be tranplanted. Fourth doc, lets call him Dr. H(web consult)has not given me a hairline but recommends a transplant of around 2800 grafts. This doc is known for this hairlines. I respect all of these docs. I am 27 and almost bald on top. I dont have much donor is what all docs say. Has anyone every faced this situation before. Pls advice
  2. I tried searching for this answer on the forums but couldn't find a link. Sorry if this has been asked before. Does anyone know of a more affordable place to buy Finasteride other than drugstore.com ?
  3. I definately plan to go for a mega session. Currenlty I keep my hair really short (see picture). Keeping it long doesnt make sense since I get a horse shoe pattern and thts def not the in-look for 27 yr olds I have received some good advice on this forum Here's my plan: I'll grow my hair long on the back at the donor region for abt 3 weeks before the surgery. Will try and schedule something before some long weekend. Week after tht is off. So eventually will aim for 12 days off. Hopefully the redness should disappear in this time. Will also use some hair product to further give me some cover. Guys does this sound realistic ?
  4. $175 is way too excessive and I was a bit taken back when I was told about this charge. It's good to be living in an internet era and its good to have forums such as these where one can discuss these matters. A doctor can choose to charge whatever he/she wants to and i guess we have a choice whether or not to consult him/her. He's a doctor as well as a businessman. He knows he good and in demand and also knows that few patients would choose to go with someone else after paying $175 (~35 hair strands). But forgets that there's enough competition in the market and this may greatly discourge a lot of potential candidates. I am just doing my research and am not here to defame any doctors. I think his work is truly good but just as "B spot" said...I aint paying no salesman to show me the car.
  5. Hi, I would like to meet some Dr. Rose's patients personally. If anyone present in the tri-state area (NY,NJ,CON), please kindly response. Thank you

  7. Hey all, I started web consultations with few of the docs and in-person with few others. Now the ones I sent pictures to, kindly responded saying they wanted further details and it seemed like they actually bothered looking at the pictures. Dr Epstein on the other hand simply gave a one line response saying that he has looked at my picture and would like me to come in for a in-person consultation. I had asked, in my email, for an cost estimation which was not provided. Moreover his website mentions that they can provide digital image of what we can expect from his procedure. Again, this was not provided. On calling Dr Epstein's office I was asked for $175 just for an initial consult. None of the other docs behaved this way. This has all left a bad taste in my mouth for Dr Epstein. It just sounds too greedy. Why does he have to mention all this on his website when he simply is going to ask for $175?? As I mentioned before, other docs atleast bothered to look at my pic and came back with genuine questions. Is this another Boseley.? Are all those other posts about how good Dr. Epstein is, just a self promotion ?

  9. JohnH, When I let my hair grow out I get a Horse shoe patten on my head. It's not too pretty and being relatively young, it makes me look weird at work. Most of the roots on the top do not sprout any hair. Anyways I did send my pictures to fews docs. They advised me to let grow my hair for 2 weeks and contact them again.
  10. Just when I got myself sort of mentally prepared for the transplant, I got this other thing to worry abt now. Being only 27, I am already poked fun of enough at work. I guess John_in_NC is right..I got to suck it up
  11. I plan to take a week off right after surgery. Can this week be used to grow hair at the donor area and hide the scar. I have about people complaining the the hair around does not grow for 3-4 months. The way I am seated in office, the entire floor here will notice whats going on.
  12. Thanks for your advice Pat and HairBank. I tried using Propecia but noticed some side effect and thus discontinued. Don't currently used minoxidil, although i used to. I used it for 8-10 months but noticed that it wasnt helping. Hairloss was ON as usual. Thanks again
  13. Helpful form members, I will be consulting 4-5 coalition doctors in the next few weeks and will probably go in for a transplant a month or two later. Not that I don't trust the docs but i want some honest opinions. 1. How many hairs should I get transplanted. I think I am a norwood 6 patient 2. could the transplant harm any existing roots. If you look at my pictures I still have some roots left.
  14. Gentlemen/Ladies, I am heavily contemplating getting a hair transplant procedure done. However I have just one concern. I work in a corporate environment. Right now I keep my head shaven. But after the transplant, 2-3 months down when your newly planted roots begin to grow, isint the hair going to look weird ? I mean, just a few hair growing here and there, it's going to look real ugly. How does one deal with this ?
