  1. I can verify about the hats. I had Temple work done and it was a non issue. Hats, or bandannas both covered it up. There was just a tiny bit showing at the bottom but after about a week, just not really visible. btw, H&W will give you a decent bandanna after your surgery most likely. Even in a choice of colors. Just call to verify but I did get one right afterwards.
  2. I think Jotronic and H&W have the right to be upset and have the pic removed upon request. I would bet it is a webmaster thing like was mentioned. If you google "follicular dissection" in google images, Jo's infamous image is number 1. [EDIT ADDED] d'oh. looks like the google image is coming from her site ...
  3. PGP, I agree about the Shapiro hairlines, they are definitely and consistently superb. .
  4. I like this movie too. My first impression was that is was a cheesy coming of age flick, and maybe it is, but I like the way Sean directed it. I especially liked the part where he was sitting on the train, and started singing King of the Road, it then morphed into the real song with Roger Miller singing it. Great soundtrack and acting abilities I thought. Where do you rent for $7? Blockbuster rents them for about $5. Sometimes you can find recent movies at the Library for 2 bucks.
  5. Bill, No, I understand all of that. What I am wondering is say we take it to the extreme with miraculous unrealistic physiology to make my point. Extract a 4 inch tall strip side to side. Now assume the scalp has the ability to pull the gap back together and be closed. With this much hair and scalp removed I would imagine the visual results of the donor would be very much noticeably smaller. Well, on a smaller scale but those with 3-4 procedures I would think would almost fit into this category. I'm just wondering why the donor is immune to any visual impact, if not only for the fact that there are *substantial* hairs taken away from a "same area" mass. [EDIT ADDED] I just re-read your post and you say you do notice a very slight difference in density. I would think it would be more than slight, but good news that it isn't. .
  6. I'm trying to grasp this but can't make any sense of it at all, it must be an illusion of sorts. I'm wondering what are the actual physical affects of the donor area that has has several strips taken out. Let me try to explain this.. A normal unstripped scalp has so many hairs on it. Now, after a couple strip surgeries, there has been substantial hairs/skin/fatty tissue removed, but the surface area remains visually the same. How come it isn't noticeable? Do we lose surface area or does the skin get stretched after surgeries pulling the individual folicules farther apart? If it pulls the hairs apart, why wouldn't look noticeably thinner? I'm guessing the skin has enough laxity to keep from stretching so much, but that still leaves the fact that there are considerable less hairs there. .

  8. hairbank, Good luck with your upcoming procedure. If you get the 3000 your after you'll be dialed.
  9. Like Thanatopsis_awry, I used the Coalition as a starting point. Then I looked at each coalition doctors website and viewed their results and read every section of their websites to determine their methods, philosophy etc.. I did look outside of the coalition too but mostly found insufficient data. Little to no actual patient feedback. I narrowed the list down to about 4-5 doctors based on my goals and needs. Then I started looking at personal blogs for actual patient feedback on these doctors. I paid special attention to patients similar to me. I read through the all of the comments word for word and what their thoughts were during the whole process from beginning to end. To me this was the most valuable source of info of the research. Plus, a lot of these patients are not featured on the doctors websites, so you get real life experiences instead of chosen showcases. Not that showcases aren't real life but you know what I mean This narrowed the list down to 2. Then I chose the doctor with the most consistent results that matched what I needed. I consulted by phone a couple times, spoke to the staff, and eventually the doctor himself. During this time, I also used this forum to ask questions about what I was being told by this doctors staff to get unbiased feedback, opinions, and comparisons. I also searched for any negative feedback about this doctor on several forums and other external websites. Didn't find any. Then I spoke to actual patients of this doctor, and met one in person. I was then convinced I had chosen the right doctor for me. One thing that was very important was the donor closure. In my opinion Dr. Hasson stood out as having the best, most consistent results with an undetectable donor scar. This did weigh in in my decision. .
  10. I started sprouting at 3 weeks too. Now at 2 months I have hundreds. The early ones are almost full maturity and the newer ones are very thin and wispy. Sometimes I don't spot one until it is about 1/4 inch long because it is so thin and transparent, other ones are coming in a normal full strength stubbles. Abby, Consider yourself lucky to get such early growth. They will improve in time.
  11. Dang Trimox, that is some good coverage and growth and you are not even done maturing yet. What a difference this has made for you huh?
  12. Dakota, I'll do my best in answering you. I haven't seen your head but what I would do is scower the blogs for nw6's and compare how many grafts they had and how it looks. I found these all from various doctors and graft counts... NW6 - 4946 grafts NW6 - 5227 grafts NW6 - 3280 grafts NW6 - 4326 grafts NW6 - 3400 grafts NW6 - 7804 grafts NW6 - 2600 grafts NW6 - 4800 grafts NW6 - 7550 grafts - Bill NW6 - 7319 grafts - Jotronic
  13. Hi Jobi, Read the very first post in this thread. It is explained there. I never noticed it because the pittedness of the damaged scalp is only visible from the sides and top, above my level of view but in plain sight of others. I posted pictures of this in this thread showing this with the different views. The rough hairline I could see. I have several 5's and 6's right up front. That's one thing, but permanent pits are another. If that wasn't bad enough the really disturbing thing is that Dr. Rassman denies there any pits at all and the follow up letter indicates that I had a "great" result. I would gladly post my follow up letters. Go back and take a look at the pics I posted and tell me if there is any way possible that these are not pitted and if the result is "great". This is why I stated in another thread that I question his ethics. Even though he did not do the surgery himself, he is not providing an honest assessment of it. If you don't have honesty from your doc, no matter how painful it may be to hear, there's really no where to go from there. How could you trust anything said from that point on? Also, If you notice, I did try to resolve this directly with the doctor first before posting here. I had 2 consultations with Dr. Dassman before coming to this forum seeking advice.
  14. Dr. Feller, Wow, that's pretty scary and you make some very good points.
  15. You think the percentage is really that high?
  16. The offer of the free grafts is not what I find dishonest or unethical about Dr. Rassman. It is what occurred on the phone with him afterwards from which I derive this conclusion. I will send you my contact info to see if you get better results.
  17. Pat, You can refer to my first post on this forum. Unfortunately, although I tried, his was never resolved and due to the circumstances stated in that thread it is a dead end to discuss on the forum, neither do I want to really. After that thread I tried to come to a fair resolve with the doctor but received less than an honest and in my opinion ethical response.
  18. No I wouldn't. I think the Coalition recommendation is a worthy collection and starting point for further research to decide where to go, however I wouldn't trust my surgery with just one sources opinion. That is why I give just as much weight, or more, to the patients feedback, photos, blog stories, personal contact with actual patients etc.. I commend this site for its strict standards in selecting a doctor for Coalition recommendation and actually hold them to it over time to retain this status, for the most part I would say one would be in good hands with any of them. That said, however, each patient has individual needs/goals so a selection from a Coalition Doctor list would understandably be narrowed based on this personal criteria. Although all may be fine surgeons, only a few may be a better choice for your needs. There is one doctor in the Coalition you couldn't pay me to go. From personal experience I find him unethical and untruthful and not to have the patients best interest as priority. Which makes me wonder about these aspects of other Coalition Doctors. Some things can not be found out until after the fact. From my perspective, the Coalition is just a recommendation. The source of this recommendation ( hairlosslearningcenter.org ) is reputable and knowledgeable and can be trusted to provide accurate info, so the recommendation carries sufficient weight. However, to me, a recommendation is just a starting point to begin further research and not to be taken as definitive advice. [EDIT ADDED] I have to add, so this post isn't taken the wrong way. I did use a Coalition doctor for my second surgery and am pleased with the results so far.
  19. He can still post here on this forum right? Since his work is obviously good and serves a much needed niche market I would value his continued postings of results and general forum participation. The users on this forum are actually as valid and valuable a resource for recommendation as the forum coalition. In the end, it's the patient makes the choice for what's best for him/her. His exclusion from the coalition for this technicality may be acceptable for some, all considering. .
  20. ngtgb, It scares me to think of the stories you will be telling your grandchildren..
  21. Goldstar, As Bill stated... .. including buzzing/shaving them down if there are any there. You could even pull them out with tweezers and they would still come back.
  22. air1, Real good growth for 3.5 months. Looks like the rest of your hair is just fine too. Congrats, I know you'll be very very happy in 7-9 more months.
  23. Spend some more time here and you will see that this is not the case on this forum. Also spend some time doing research through several sources, not just this forum. Read, read, read and ask a lot of questions and look at a lot of patient blogs, follow their progress and their comments. PM them and ask them questions. By comparing this with what you are reading etc.. eventually you will start putting all the pieces together. Don't feel rushed, take your time. Once you have, eventually you will be able to tell the difference between real and bogus info, or sales pitches by insiders. There's a lot of info that none of us are absolutely sure about, but even that is discussed fairly here. I have no affiliation with anyone here on this site and have not been compensated by any doctor or forum owner in any way to participate here. #1) Regarding your 1st question, here is the best explanation I have found for the reason it is requested that you shave your recipient. I didn't want to do it either but after considering the reasons I had no problem with it. Shaving the Recipient Area For a Hair Transplant #3) Here's a good link of tips of what to do/expect after a surgery. HT Tips Hope this helps.
  24. Excellent coverage and density and natural looking, very nice.
  25. Hi air1, Looking forward to seeing your pics. How identical is your hairloss with your twin brother? Is it *identical*, or minute differences, or not at all the same?
