  1. This is a great point. Since this Dr is using the entire donor area the patients don't end up looking like they have a depleted donor area because you don't end up with a thinner section where grafts were taken surrounded by thicker areas where hair hasn't been extracted. Since it's all even everywhere you don't notice it because there's no contrasting area. I can see this in myself with my repair. Since my existing hair on my sides and back are already thin, it's taking less hair on top to blend in with it to make it look even all around. I'm not trying to get an extremely thick area to match the rest because the rest of it isn't thick either. So how this Dr is using the donor is an interesting idea, but I really do think there will be a high number of failures in the long term results.
  2. The good: He is getting some very impressive results while leaving the donor still looking good. The bad: He is using the entire donor area without allowing for any future hair loss and he is going way out of the safe area which will cause a high percentage of these patients to lose a lot of transplanted grafts over the next few years without having any available donor hair to use to fill in anywhere. You can see he goes right up to the current bald area all the way around their heads and all the way down to the nape where retrograde thinning will occur in a lot of these man. Remember these are almost all NW 6 patients that were shown, so there is going to be a large number of them who start thinning in the donor area, have their bald area widen, and start losing from the nape upwards. You can't say it only happens to a small percentage of men because we are only looking at NW 6 men. We aren't looking at the general population where many of them won't progress to this level in the first place, so the chances of it happening on men who are already NW 6 go wayyy up.
  3. If you were going to do something it should be similar to the position of black line I'm showing here. However I don't think you should do anything. I'm showing this because I know some guys insist on getting work done and think they need to improve things that don't need improving, so if that's you I want to make sure you don't screw up your life too bad.
  4. First of all your hair looks fine. You shouldn't do anything. With that said, even if you insist on lowering the hairline, your design is bad. corners must be above the temple points and not be going down into them. trust me that it will NOT look natural at all if you do it your way.
  5. I don't think it was negatively affecting my beard hair, but it was thinning my chest and other body hair. I think you may be fine to keep using finisteride if you are only using beard hair and not hair from other areas.
  6. I had several BHT transplants and I did have one session where a good portion just grew right from the beginning and never shed, but it only happened that one time in one area. Interestingly though it was in an area that was completely bald and had never been touched with transplants before. Anyway, please keep us updated on how the abdominal grafts grow as hair from that area is said to not be the best for transplanting.
  7. No. It's not going to matter. You are fine. I don't know what hertel is, but anything that can do damage would have to be spilled onto the grafts for any chance of doing any damage and even then it probably wouldn't matter unless you kept it on the grafts for an extended time or if the grafts were touching some chemicals somewhat regularly. It would have to be something very strong to damage your grafts with a one time spill on them.
  8. You guys have to realize that this is 4 years later. Most of that thin, miniaturized hair he had before the hair transplant is probably gone now and you are only seeing the transplanted hair.
  9. I like it much better at that length rather than buzzed off. I never liked the shaved side with long hair on top look.
  10. True and Dorin aren't known for megasessions. They prefer to do 2 smaller sessions. There are pros and cons to each method. Most men tend to go back for a 2nd session anyway to fill in any spots that they feel may be lacking, so planning for 2 sessions to begin with isn't always different than what ends up happening many time anyway. The idea with planning for 2 sessions is, for example, they can transplant 2000 grafts to the frontal half during the first transplant and then when you come back for another 2000 grafts you can decide if and how much you feel you need to thicken up the front while using the rest for the crown. This can sometimes get you closer to where you want to be using less grafts than if you used all 4000 in the first transplant and then decide some spots in the front are still too thin to your liking and want to add more grafts there. Obviously there are pros to doing one megasession as you get more hair in a shorter time, but a two stage transplant can conserve grafts on someone in your situation who may lose a lot more hair in the midscalp in the coming years. There's no right or wrong way. That is just their philosphy and it also enables them to take their time, have the Dr more involved throughout the entire procedure, and get a good scar on FUTs because they are not pushing the limits of your scalp laxity. I've had several procedures with Dr Dorin over the past few years and I have been very happy with them. I'm an extreme repair patient, so my personal experience and outcome growthwise isn't going to be what a normal patient would be getting. However I have seen some of Dr Dorins hairline work and I think it's among the best. He doesn't do a straight line, so it looks much more natural than some other hairlines I've seen. In your own picture you can see how he draws a wavy hairline. EDIT: You can see an example of the type of hairline Dr Dorin creates in a 2000 graft procedure from them here.
  11. I'm also seriously thinking of getting some temple peaks and hairline work done using body hair as well, but I keep hearing everyone say not to use it there. The problem is I don't have any scalp donor to use. I've looked at some of Dr Umar's work and it looks like it can be done. Sorry that didn't really help you any, but know you are not the only one tempted to try this.
  12. I think this is where you are going wrong. Body hair to scalp transplants are harder and require more skill than scalp to scalp hair transplants, so it's not easy work that you can simply go to any hair mill to get it done. Try going to someone who has been doing BHT for a while and has some results they can show you.
  13. You can try cutting the fin dose in half. It shouldnt make a difference in the effect on your hair, but it may lessen any other side effects. If you feel better taking it twice a day then take half a pill two times daily rather than 1 pill two times daily.
  14. If you do decide to do this then the next question is where will they implant them? If they mix the 200 grafts in with the rest and scatter them all over then there is no way to tell if they grew or not. If you put them all in one area then if they don't grow you will have an obvious empty spot.
  15. There must be a lot of variation in different people, probably depending a lot on what type of body hair a person has. My beard and chest hair that was transplanted grow faster and longer than my scalp hair. It grows several inches easily.
  16. Potugal, Wow. That's a big change. Looks great and at only 6 months it should still get better.
  17. Gabreille Nelson Mukhia, Have you seen many patients 4 or 5 years after having a large amount of body grafts? I'm asking because on myself I had my first body hair transplant about 6 years ago in 2014. The hair does grow in kinky, wiry, coarse, etc. so after the 7 month to one year evaluation it doesn't blend as well like you mention, but I've noticed that after a few growth cycles once you get into year 3, 4, or 5 it really starts to act more like head hair and it grows much softer. I can't tell the difference now between native hair and the body hair that was transplanted several years ago. The latest procedure or two is still a bit coarse and kinky, but I suspect that will soften up just like the rest in time. So since most clinics will be evaluating at the 6 month to one year time frame I wonder if they are really getting a true idea of how body hair will ultimately grow on the patients head.
  18. My dad had thick hair like this well into his 60s and with little to no gray hair.
  19. The lower back part of my crown is 100% beard and chest hair. I was completely bald there before. It doesn't look any different than other hair and it grows several inches long if I let it. There are no issues with length or appearance. For the first two years there is a difference in how it feels if I run my hands through it. It feels a bit more coarse, but that slowly goes away over a few years. I can't tell the difference anymore in the oldest ones that were transplanted.
  20. I'm glad you had more put in the front as I felt your hairline area really needed a bit more. I can't wait to see this once it's grown in.
  21. It should continue to thicken up at least a little bit over the next few months.
  22. A bad hair transplant can certainly end a relationship, but rapidly going bald can do that also.
