  1. it's true what mbm and dakota are saying: i never filed an official complaint. the only thing you might get if you google my doc would be negative posts i made on these forums. and after awhile those posts get buried in the google search. a lot of guys don't want to admit they got an ht let alone got a bad one....
  2. fishman, firstly, no one is accussing you of being naive. you simply have not done your due diligence. i have not been to this clinic, but i did go to a clinic for my first ht that uses multi or "mixed" grafts. now, that's really just a euphamism for minigrafts or micros, which is an outdated technology. it means they use larger grafts that consist of multiple hairs. the reason they do this, as they admit, is that there is less of a chance of transecting the follicle. it also will give greater coverage, as common sense dictates. the problem with using these grafts as oppossed to FUs is that they create a "pluggy" look especially when used in the hairline. now it might look acceptable from far away or in a picture, but believe me, up close it is not flattering. top modern ht surgeons ALL use TRUE FUs. it is cosmetically superior. now, if you are okay with having a pluggy looking hairline, then by all means go to this place. but if it will bother you then you should look elsewhere. i HIGHLY reccomend you see patients of theirs in person. just ask them for refferals. also, if you are concerned about cost, believe me it is much more expensive to fix a bad ht than it is to do it right the first time. best of luck to you!
  3. i didn't notice a difference, but it's so hard to tell if hair is growing faster... it can't hurt you and is good for your joints, so there's nothing to lose, but don't expect any miracle growth.
  4. jessdog, sorry to hear about your bad experience. hopefully a top doc can help you sort it out if you are indeed interested in going under the knife again. one point to note, and this is not to defend deyarman, but very few docs actually place the grafts. they generally excise the donor strip and make the incisions and the techs do the placing. that being said, the techs do need to be very good at what they do, and an unexperienced tech can ruin even the greatest ht doc's work.
  5. Bill, i have no legal agenda. the lawsuit is no longer being persued. i am just going into the clinic with a list because the "doctor" claims to have no unsatisfied patients. i would like to illustrate to him otherwise.
  6. I'm gonna have to concur with ht55: i don't know what that patient looked like before (maybe he was slick bald) but that does not look like a dense packed hairline. i have seen much more impressive work from other docs...
  7. misterno, there's two approaches you can take: 1)Try for overall coverage with average density in one megasession--you could do another session later to add more density. 2)focus on the front first and then finish the back in a 2nd surgery. with this option you can also add more density to the front while getting coverage in the back in surgery #2. For the first option i would talk to H&W as they seem to draw huge numbers consistently. for the second option you can also consider docs like feller, shapiro, and rahal. you must be realistic with your goals and plan accordingly. good luck!
  8. misterno, you have a ton of research to do before getting an HT. just live on these boards for a few months and you'll soon understand both surgeries and what they entail for your future.
  9. david, there is a community here that can and will support you with the hairloss concerns. but i do think if you have been suicidal 5 times that you NEED to get some help. please contact someone and get yourself some treatment for your depression. we want you to live and get healthy, and then we can help you sort through the hairloss.
  10. Bill, i have been back and forth with karamikian and even tried suing in small claims court. he claims that he used true fus when anyone who looks at my pics can tell are minigrafts. i need testimonials because he is claiming he has no unsatisfied patients. i know for a fact that he does (some i have already spoken to) and just want to provide further evidence.
  11. If anyone has had a bad HT experience with Joseph Karamikian please contact me. I am looking to recoup some of my money from him and all I need is a short testimonial from you. Thanks so much.
  12. Looks like you're right on track Steve-o. I am just 4 months post and have been feeling some little stubs for a while now but haven't really seen any growth yet. i have a feeling this month will be a growth explosion (i hope!).
  13. dewayne, good luck with your upcoming surgery...nervous at all?
  14. Perhaps use your Ht as a stepping stone for a whole new look AND lifestyle. Wouldn't you rather be healthy and alive to enjoy all that new hair?
  15. Jinny, unfortunately there is no way we can predict when your redness will go away. Mine lasted 5 months from HT #1, although it was just pink by that time. the severe redness took a few months to go away. your plan to use your existing hair to cover up is your best bet. there are products you can try which might help speed up the healing: emu oil, distilled witch hazel, vitamin e oil. best of luck!
  16. dewayne, you missed one point: you can't have a badly misshaped noggin! i did the buzzed-real close look for 2 years before getting an HT. while i could have lived with it, i did get a bit bored with the look after a while and it's nice to have some options. on the plus side though you never have to think about styling your hair, drying it, and you can save some bucks on haircuts and styling products.
  17. TS, are you plannnig on doing just the front or the vertex and crown too. If it's the latter you're gonna need way more than 1500....
  18. I'm not gonna beat around the bush--that is terrible work, and this doc should not be doing transplants. Firstly, you can drive a truck through the spacing on those grafts. All that blood indicates large incisions and therefore minigrafts were likely used. I know because my first HT looked very similar--big bloody scabs, 2-3 hair grafts in the hairline (do you have those?). Check this link to see pics from my Ht with Feller and the last one is from my first HT http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/256...941091453#3941091453 The 2nd HT I had there was such little blood and the scabs were tiny. It's simple really; small incisions=small grafts=minimal bleeding. While the end result isn't horrible (plugs) it definitely isn't modern HT work and I'll bet it looks worse in person than it does in pictures. I personally would never give a surgeon a 2nd chance to "fix things." In my mind offering further free work is an admission that the doc doesn't know what the hell he's doing. Sorry to be so blunt...
  19. NO TO BOSLEY AND HAIR CLUB!!!!! Gianotto I have never heard of. Dr.Feller is close by in New York and is one of the top 5 HT docs in the world and he's reasonably priced. Here are the other docs I considered: Rahal, Alexander, H&W, Shapiro. If Feller wasn't close to me in New York I would have traveled as far as I needed to go for a top doc, and there are only a handful.
  20. the two top docs to see in the ny area, imo, are feller and bernstein. feller is more aggressive and bernstein is a conservative doc, so you'll get a good range of opinions as to what your approach should be. regarding getting a natural result, in the hands of a top doc you can attain very natural results, especially to the untrained eye. Most of the public still thinks ht surgery involves doll plugs. as far s post-op recoevery and detecability, it depends on how much native hair you have. the more native hair the easier it will be to camoflauge the work. however, keep in mind that most docs will require you shave the areas to be worked on so they can see where they are transplanting--this will allow for a more successful HT. also, redness can last for up to 5 months. best of luck!
  21. Growth is suppossed to just BEGIN at 3-4 months. You have a very long way to go before panicking about growth. You can only judge a HT success after 1 year. The growth comes and goes in cycles, so you'll start some growth then it will seemingly stop, then suddenly it takes off again. So BE PATIENT! Also, after my first HT the redness/pinkness lasted for about 5-6 months.
  22. "All these threads talking about famous men and their hair troubles are pretty childish. Does making fun of someone rich and famous for being bald make you guys feel better??? Grow up and focus on your own damn life and balding head." One more thing vincehair, if it's so childish and a waste of time, how come you're reading this thread?
  23. Getting an HT is all about how you look, and celebrities are all about their looks. So yes, I think it's natural we would be interested in this topic. If you're not concerned about your looks you wouldn't even be on this forum. What I can't understand is why Travolta's make-up and hair people can't get a better color match for him.
  24. When I consulted with Dr.Feller he not only told me what punch size he uses, he let me see the actual tools and check out a surgery in progress...
  25. AVOID MHR AND BOSLEY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!! If you're in NYC go see Dr.Feller in Great Neck. He is considered one of the top five HT surgeons in the world, has a stellar reputation, and is reasonably priced. EDIT: Just noticed this is 4 years old. Where do you guys dig these posts up from?
